    A truly sad day to be a British avgeek! Excellent footage of Negus' final moments in the air. So glad it's going to be preserved.

      Yea because it was possibly the last time this aircraft and others to run under there own power

    Every time a 747 makes it's very last landing, an angel gets their wings.

    Great video! Glad you caught the final landing of G-CIVB! So sad to see all the other the aircraft being stored/scrapped there. Luckily this one won’t meet that same fate.

    Why is British Away getting rid of the most iconic aircraft in British Airway's histroy. The 747 fit perfectly with that airline

    • @gamingplanespotter9209
      @gamingplanespotter9209 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Likely because BA are receiving newer and more efficient aircraft and the last one was due to exit the fleet in 2024, so even if they did get back into service, they would have been gone in 2-3 Years anyway and the other expenses will have meant that it wasn’t really worth it for BA to keep them, no matter how worth it is for us.

    • @glogmat
      @glogmat 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Because this aircrafts make no business sense at the moment, and I doubt it will ever take off again! I love this aircraft too, however survival is much more important.

    • @Gamerguy-501
      @Gamerguy-501 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@gamingplanespotter9209 oh but they have kept these aircrafts running in the skies forever and that makes sense. About the expenses

      @@glogmat survival is everything yes. But this aircraft whenever I heard it take off in the videos always gave me chills

    Had so many brilliant flights in the 70s/early 80s on BA 747 classics in Negus livery to the Caribbean and Seychelles.
    Fantastic meals and superb service with British Airways. Now retired from the airline industry at nearly 70 years of age.

    Such a fantastic video. Once again, thank you so much for letting me be a part of this video. It's a true honour. I can tell by how teary people are when they saw the 747 landing and pushbacked by Kemble. A big thanks to all the Kemble staff for letting the enthusiasts go to the airport and watch this special moment. And great video Casey!

    Beautiful video mate. Emotional times for sure. Who would have thought that the BA 747's would actually retire earlier than the KLM ones! Crazy... I'm gutted I never got to fly one of the British Queens. That was an incredible landing, and really well filmed. Historic scenes I'd say, especially when the Union Jack came out. I hope Negus will enjoy a nice retirement. I also hope that Landor and BOAC won't be forgotten and that they find a nice place to stay too. Great idea to collab for this one!

    Fortunately, Kemble is now G-CIVB’s new home! Hopefully we’ll hear about the other retro 747s soon. If the other two happen to be preserved, I wonder if BA’s retro A319 might get the same treatment when the time comes? Excellent footage :)

    🙁 taken 4 artic bulkers , 3 weeks to take away 3 of them from st athan Cardiff and one virgin one to derby where they get shredded! We then reload the shredded aluminium and take it to Swansea where they become alloy wheels!! As a shell got 150 tons of ally outa of it . Some goes on container to China for fridges etc. Totaly recyclable , but as a plane fanatic myself took loads of pics and Sat in them before destroyed by 30 ton machine . I've never had chance to fly in one ! But from cockpit at least 30 foot of ground and wingspan amazing. Traveling from kemble / athan last 3 weeks to derby no one woukd know 747 in pieces on bk of my truck 😥

    I can understand ,this adulation ,concerning the exiting of ba's 747 fleet but as others in the comments section have stated, it was going to happen anyway eventually, i have see many other types of aircraft come and go during the course of time, in the ba fleet as well, vanguards viscounts comets tristars etc etc, klm amongst others inc air france have also deposed of there 747's, all these are aging aircraft now and they have had their innings, it will be interesting to see if there will be so much sentimentality when the time comes for thr 787 and 350 to be retired, as a friend of mine stated once nothing lasts, and its a thowaway society that we live in , it reminds me when one purchases their dream car, and then eventually that will end up on the scrapheap, reminds me of mine, probably tin cans by now!!all the same a bit sad.
