- Had the opportunity to visit Kemble this afternoon as it wasn't too much of a detour coming back from Cornwall. It's a fantastic place to spend an hour or so with a massive array of aircraft that are stored or awaiting the scrapper.
The airport is home to an overwhelming amount of Boeing 747's with a fair few new additions courtesy of BA with the latest, G-BYGF arriving a few days prior.
A pretty much complete list of what I saw can be found below:
MK Airlines B747-200F
British Airways B747-400
KLM B747-400
Saudia/Air Atlanta B747-400
Corsair B747-400
Czech/Eurowings A319
AtlasGlobal A320
IndiGo A320
SkyAngkor/Avion Express A320
Jet2 B737-300
Jet2 B757-200
Strong Aviation B727-200
Unknown B727-100
Qatar Airways A320
Qatar Airways A340-600
Jettime B737-700
Turkmenistan B717-200
Plus Ultra A340-300
Aigle Azur A320
Air Italy B737-700
GetJet A320
& A few unidentified aircraft/sections of aircraft

It breaks my heart to see the lineup of 747-400s at Kemble, never to fly again :(
Same with the Jet2 757-200s and 737-300s, I grew up seeing them very often at Leeds Bradford, but those days are sadly just about over now.
It's weird seeing how much everything as changed in such a short space of time!
The fuselage at 7:42 has been purchased by a wealthy businessman (Johnny Palmer) and is now in Bonville Road, Brislington, Bristol and is in the process of becoming business offices! He apparently paid around £100,000 for the fuselage in 2018 but it has taken 2 years of planning to get the plane to its new location.
That's really interesting, thanks for the update on that!
Literally the backbones of long haul travel for decades, it breaks my heart! Will travel ever be the same again? ✈️😭☹️
We shall have to see!
Good video nice to see G-CELY
Indeed it was!
Nice one mate! Really want to go to Kemble one day
Thanks mate!
Didn’t know this existed until i drove past it the other day. Ive never been so spontaneously excited 😂
It kind of just appeared out of nowhere in the countryside when i went 😂
It would be amazing if they could sell them off and make some cash from it. I went to a restaurant in the Czech Republic which was in an old airplane. Very cool!
That would be amazing. Yeah it's interesting to see people using old aircraft like that!
You can buy bits of these 747 from ASI (air salvage international) they are based at Kemble
I'm sad. I wanna save them from that horrible scrapper. Imagine how painful it must be for those planes. How would u feel if u were a plane and had to go through that. LET'S STOP THE PAIN.
There's no pain involved here. And most of the materials from the aircraft get re-used. So its actually a very beneficial process
@@AviationUpclose really even the WINDOWS.
Airports just aren't the same anymore without 747's. Very tragic.
I agree!
It’s a sad sight. Can I ask where exactly is this filmed from as I was going to visit on Saturday but due to a bad accident on the M4 I didn’t make it... thx
The first half of the video is filmed from the A429. The rest is filmed from inside the airport
@@AviationUpclose i dont wana be rude but 500 747s are active
Nice
Thanks!
Are they for Sale or waiting to be scrapped?
I mean some of them like the JT 737-700s looks to be in very good condition,
I think some of the aircraft are for storage as well
A truly sad location for a TRUE aviation fan.
It's definitely an interesting experience!
So very sad; a Jumbos graveyard. Let’s hope some do fly again.
I heard Rossiya were looking at taking some
So sad to see all those planes...
Indeed. Very interesting though!
Have you passed your ppl yet ? Good video btw
Thanks mate! Yeah I have, just waiting for the CAA to post my license!
@@AviationUpclose Excellent, well done ! How old are you and what airline do you want to be flying for ?
Thanks
Ideally Jet2 mate
@@AviationUpclose brilliant , good luck mate.
Please specify your age don't worry if you qualified late I'm 28 and not yet even taken a 1st lesson yet I intend to take lessons and eventually become an airline pilot.
Why are many of the cargo door open?
Just how they've been left
surprised to see Indigo among them
Absolutely!
I hope that jet 2 757 isn’t being scrapped
Some of them will be staying in the fleet for a few more years
😕😞😔💔
I dont wana be rude but 500 747s still exist
Doesn't really make any difference to me. I found it interesting seeing the ones being scrapped there
Some commentary would have been good
Something to consider!
