    This video is a how to remove the carb from a CBR125.
    The reason for making it is my son's bike is running very poorly and keeps stalling plus will not tick over, so I have decided to strip the carb down and clean it.
    As the problem was not solved in this video I am making another video to reveal the real cause of the trouble, so look out for CBR125 Keeps flooding video coming soon. • "Sparky's Workshop" CB... #sparkyrides

      I did, but ended up encountering a bigger issue. I cant remember which way or how to fit the carb boot properly hehe Its not sealed properly on the carb to the engine letting air in the cylinder. Do you remember which way it should be? That would be such a big help. Thanks so much... love all your vids im a fan :D

    • @BikeMates

      White Knight hi it should only fit one way as there are lugs on the boot which locate it to the engine block, from memory the lug which sticks out fits near the vacuum tube.

    Hi Sparkey, enjoyed the video. Please help: My fuel filter came off the pipe, and re-doing it, the other side popped off from wherever it was attached. I can't figure out where. It looks like the top end of the pipe goes through a rubber mounting, then to the top end of the carb. I've taken the fuel tank off, and I am now also unsure as to where the small, reddish bent pipe top left - you called it the vacuum - should go back on. Please advise. Rgds, M.

    • @BikeMates

      64Shakur hi you need to unplug the fuel gauge sender wire as in the vid, remove vacuum and petrol tubes, then gently pull on the side panels to unplug from the tank then you can lift the tank and remove the vent and overflow pipes for the tank, then pull the tank backwards and lift off. Hope this helps thanks for watching.

    I need a bit of help, my CBR 125 is missing a few pipes, thanks to this video I have figured out the vent and drain pipes for the bottom of the fuel tank.
    However the lower front left of the airbox has a barb I assume a pipe is supposed to go from there to somewhere and I am not sure where? does it go to somewhere on the engine?
    Thanks!

    • @BikeMates
      @BikeMates  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi the pipes from the bottom of the tank are a breather and drain pipes but not having them should make no difference to the running of the bike. There should be a pipe from the air filter to the crankcase which is also a breather hose.
      Hope this helps

      @@BikeMates wow man after all this time didn't think you'd reply to an old video. Appreciate it. I think I found the Honda code for the part 950058061020. So does that mean I just need 2 of 8x610 tubes(not getting honda original too expensive) . And they connect to the tank and no where else at the other end just tuck them down the frame. In theory do I need them? Because the bike was running without them apparently. But unsure if that's why the bike stutters when going any faster then 20mph. Change gear stutters goes away until its time to change gear again. Thanks again

    Hey Sparky, me again - I have a carb related question.
    Recently my choke cable came off from the handlebars. The adjustable locknut is still there, but it seems to be missing a piece that connects that to the underside of the plunger, that slots into the "c" shape holder. Anyway, after fiddling with it my bike seems to have changed behaviour. It slowly cuts out when idling with the choke down even when the engine is warm, the choke still works fine as intended, bringing the revs up and it doesn't stall like that.
    Is it possible that you can push the choke cable too far down? I figure there is an adjustable locknut there for a reason and wonder if that's the issue I'm having.
    **edit
    I noticed I screwed the adjuster too far up, and the plunger wouldn't go further down. I backed off the adjuster and moved it down til what feels like the cable "bottoms out" and upped my idle screw. It seems to hold it's own. - So i suppose my question is still as above, is it possible to push the choke in the other direction? Like, what would happen if the choke cable was cut altogether? I don't know if you particularly need a choke to be used in 15c+ weather. Sorry for long reply.

    • @BikeMates
      @BikeMates  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yew Tree as you said you shouldn’t need choke at 15c. As for the cable going to far in, I’m not sure that can happen. Have you altered the mixture screw at all?

    • @yewtree9565
      @yewtree9565 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@BikeMatesHmm, well I noticed if I press the choke down as far as the cable could physically be pushed down there's a "springy" pushback effect and I think there's a spring inside the part where the choke cable sits in the carb, so I assume when the spring pushes back it'll set the cable at zero choke.
      With that in mind, I then brought the idle screw to around 2,000 RPM when warmed to normal temp which is around 15-18 when warming, and it seems okay now. That said, I noticed if I rev it to above 6000 + it would settle at around 2100 rpm for atleast a second or two before setting down to the correct 2000 rpm. It sorta hangs briefly. I haven't touched the fuel / air mix, but I think it'll all be okay now.
      What temp do you recommend using a choke at by the way? I've not found any definitive guides for the cbr on how best to use it.

    • @BikeMates
      @BikeMates  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yew Tree I think if all the settings are correct then there should be no need for choke above 12 degrees, but that said a lot of people use the choke every time they start the engine. There are no hard and fast rules. Ride safe 👍

      @@BikeMates the good news is. Carb stripped cleaned reinstalled fresh fuel and it started first time the bad news is that the fuel overflow peed fuel on the floor, am i right in thinking this is the float bowl height? I'm not sure how to adjust the float bowl on this carb there is no washer to move up and down like on most carbs , any ideas please , sorry to keep on , just want it to stop overflowing fuel . Thanks again

      3D Ag3nt yes I had the same problem, and you’re right there is no adjustment. I managed to find one on eBay and replaced the needle valve at the same time.
