You must have done an amazing silicone job on the roof!!!🌧️💦 You’re pretty clever 😉 I think what you are both doing is fabulous. Way more interesting than watching new caravans which are all very similar. I love seeing what you are doing and I’m sure you are inspiring a whole new group of people to follow in your footsteps! I’ve watched you from the start and I hope you gain a lot of new subscribers😀😉🥰
Great job so far. One piece of advice. Replace the prado. Great vehicle for sure but it will be right at its limits towing that van. We found out the hard way
Really enjoying your Reno, love DIY. Put an access door in my van when it was 8 weeks old, nervous Nelly I was 😂. It all worked good , but you showed something I wished I thought of and that was using the staples. Tucked that away 😊. Look forward to seeing the journey
Missis and I are two months into our 25 foot reno, Jayco Sterling, almost the same layout as yours, It's hard when you only have the weekends to get stuff done, I need to work to pay for it all, I'm in Brissie as well, would love to catch up and share tip trick and challenges.
Going as far as you are, what is your plan with the plumbing? As a plumber/ gas fitter myself that works on a LOT of caravans, all I see is leaks from JG fittings due to over pressure, we have been getting a lot of interest in full JG (push fit) to Auspex (crimp system) replacement. Also on the pressure side of things, remove the Pressure Limiting Valve (if one is installed) and replace with a Pressure Reducing Valve, PRV will limit static pressure where the PLV does not, protect your system.
Majority of the plumbing will be staying the same as it’s all there already set up with jg fittings, I’ll definitely keep an eye on it all though for leaks. Cheers mate!
Ok, well I highly suggest installing a PRV to the mains water inlet, set the pressure to 350kpa, easy enough to do with a pressure gauge, that will protect your system, I am in Boonah and our local caravan park has 900kpa water pressure being delivered to vans, you can imagine the leaks I go too.
Great info for the caravan water pressure, I had JG pipes burst on my van , fortunately underneath , had to replace all pipes throughout, but I have put a pressure reducing valve on, @ SuthoMate where are they available around Brisbane. Any particular one you recommend? Thank you . Cheers
Working in QLD work boots.....wow what a lot of work but looking forward to seeing the end product. Question, if I can please: Doing the big lap, are you restricted to an off road van or do you think you can get away with a good on road van and then just explore in the ute when you get a base.?
No it definitely doesn’t restrict you!! I’m a firm believer that you can tow almost any caravan to any of the popular “off road” destinations, only difference is more chance of components rattling loose without off-road suspension
@@nowornever_aus I was gonna say it didn't look like meranti. It's not always easy to find. What would be your suggested alternative? Tas oak I've heard could be okay? Jarrah too heavy..?
Hi Guys….. I noticed that you used structural Ply and not marine ply to fix the floor, is there any reason for this as I thought marine ply would be the go. also, I noticed you didn’t insulate behind the bed, any reason for that as well. Many thanks guys and good effort Peter
Hey Peter! Just keeping the floor the same as what is already there, and as for the insulation I just wasn’t too worried about the small amount of foam “insulation” that low in the van wall 👍🏼
Cedar is a water proof timber but is only a light soft timber and expensive now , but also moths and silver fish don't like it , that's why old cuboards and dressers made 100 years ago had cedar in them draws they new the stuff back then , amazing how's its all forgotten now and we rely on sprays and chemicals 😢
Your doing up an older van thats cool makes sence giving the new ones are very expensive today , but my vans 24 years old and gee im to scared to poke around to find the nasty stuff 😮

I totally love the green paint. I have an Elddis Affinity 2015 and I watching your videos for ideas and advice. Just wish I had a husband to help lol.
I am enjoying watching this project evolve so much. I have a 35-year-old Viscount Grand Tourer with an aluminum frame.
Thank you! Can’t beat the old ally frame vans!
Thanks for sharing the rebuild details, your experience is showing.
Thanks mate!!

One piece of advice.
Replace the prado.
Great vehicle for sure but it will be right at its limits towing that van.
We found out the hard way
Thank you mate! We don’t have a Prado though, we have a Ford Ranger 👍🏼
Opps.
My apologies.

Absolutely awesome video. I will watch the hatch install a few times as I need to do the same to get to an awkward area under the bed as well.
Thank you so much!! Glad it helped!
Nice work! Better than a new one mate 😊. Looking forward to the rest of the build
Thank you!!
You are awesome. Great problem solving.
Cheers!
You' certainly know your stuff 😊
Helps when you know what’s between the walls!
Looking good 👌
Thanks!
Well done mate
Cheers!
This is a cool project to watch, cheers
Thanks! 🙌🏼
Make sure when putting in new timbers paint them in a west system 2pack apoxy to stop the rot again makes the timbers water proof
Cheers mate!

Cheers mate! Yes I ended up finishing work because it was taking me waaay too long to get it done!
We wont tell anyone all hush hush doing a fantastic job there

awesome love your work, what would we do without a Multi tool
Such a handy tool!

I have tagged you on Instagram for reference. 👍🏽

@@nowornever_aus thanks so much. Learning heaps from your posts. Owe you a beer mate!
Hi guys, wat bonding agent are you using on the wood to aluminium
Sika flex
How did you fix the timber when you replaced the rotted timber to the outside cladding in the bottom corner?
Staples and glue through the ply wall
Mate, you're doing a GREAT job on this new van. It's going to be a beast. 🙂 So tell me, did you end up getting any leaks? ☔
No leaks at all! 🙌🏼
@@nowornever_aus Excellent news!!! 😀
what timber did you use when you did these repairs in the framework? thanks for vid!
I used pine when we did this but now we are repairing more I’m using the traditional meranti

Yes they definitely don’t build furniture like they used to! Throw away society!
@@nowornever_aus but u can still buy them good timbers today the right timber for the right job
