Pre-Spawn Pike Fishing Ireland - Big Momma!😯

Start of Spring - Early march and while everyone was fishing shallow for big fish… we hit the deeps! It was still too cold for the big fish to start spawning, we gambled with our decision and it payed off! We found the big fish.

Great fishing. Do you add weights to your jerkbaits when fishing in 5 metres of water? My sinking salmos sliders and westin swims don't fish that deep

@@senanstanleyfishing Ha ha!! Was just about to ask when you'll start back on the lake trout fishing. I bought some trout lures before Christmas and itching to use them. I'm near lough Ree and lough Sheelin, so hoping to get out soon! Is it better using lures rather than flies this time of year?

@pronoun_dilemma both can work great this time of year, both are great fun, I will be doing lots of lure videos next week early season is quite good! When the insects wake up as things heat up, the fly fishing gets great!

When do the pike spawn in Ireland? And doee it vary from lake to lake?

Varys all over, spawning depends on water temp, weather conditions, there’s lots of factors that come into it. Some might start in march, some might spawn in June. I’ve caught large females full of eggs in late June, when most people thought they had finished spawning. It can happen anytime. Shallow lakes can be earlier. On large Loughs it can happen at anytime when the right conditions are met in spring and early summer

They're still not spawning here but defo moving shallower - on the lakes at least, rivers closed now :(
