well 37 of the 47 were working at Santa Rita county jail. But they've done experiments on mentally healthy college students, divided into two groups. And half were "guards" and half were "prisoners". After a few days they had to stop the experiment, because some of the prisoners were having Mental Breakdowns. Without ANY prompting at all , the "guards" became abusive. So the theory is that giving POWER to some people, causes them to abuse that power. They were not instructed to harm the students who were playing prisoners, no name calling or taunting.
It takes a very mentally strong person to NOT abuse their power, someone with Empathy and true compassion, someone with morals and ethics. And it seems that police officers get more corrupt with each year they work in that field.

First, what employer in his/her right mind would think that it would be okay to hire someone who received a "D" on ANY of the requirements. You need to get at least 80% to pass your written drivers license test.
Second, there MIGHT be a good (or at least acceptable) reason for hiring these people notwithstanding their psych evaluation grade. There are many reasons why a person might not have performed well on the evaluation.
Also, the evaluation might have uncovered an issue that could be remedied (with some type of treatment).
Third, we have a HUGE problem when leadership refuses to accept responsibility for its hiring decisions. This is the law enforcement culture in a nutshell: it is NEVER their fault.
Finally, if I was a member of that force, I would be looking for another job. I have no respect for the blue line. However, I would expect ANY leader to show a little more loyalty to their staff.

Interesting. I'd like to see some performance records that corroborate the mental unfit for duty claims. Never mind. The majority were still working jail details. After six years most move out of that entry level position. Not everybody, but most will.

I feel so bad for the citizens of Alameda County that had dangerous LEOs lurking around on their streets. The public wellbeing is always an afterthought with the politicians and LEOs, because all animals are equal, but some are more equal than others.

I’m willing to bet this is how most departments are I mean we se video after video after video of these psychos assaulting innocent people and then laughing and high five-ing at the permanent damage or disfigurement they cause

I can remember back in the 70's and 80's and right up to today, departments having to lower standards to get "qualified in light of P.C." applicants. You get what you vote for. Glad Alameda Co. is taking a positive step to rectify this.

Not sure if it’s like this in Cali but in Illinois, they have age limits. I think dropping those would help. Older dudes are more chill, we don’t have anything to prove, we won’t chase the female cadets because most of us have been married and know women are pure trouble. I think it’s time to open the books to mature recruits.

The problem i would have would be if the psychological evaluations are biased towards political ideology its not hard to trace back to a time where certain religions or sexual orientations made you ineligible for law enforcement positions. Police and other law enforcement positions work at the behest of elected officials i hope this is not a move to replace police with officers more in tune with leftist or woke ideology, heck i wouldnt want it happening on the other end either. I want to know what the questions and basis is for these decisions.

You have zero reason to think this. You just made iup a whole bunch of stuff. You right wingers say that there are just a few bad apples. But when they test for the bad apples you make up a whole fantasy in your mind.

LOL,.... "heck i wouldnt want it happening on the other end either".
you are way too late for that. you might wanna accept the fact that right wing ideology is attached at the hip with WS/racism, and they have been in control of law enforcement since before racists started voting republican.
sorry that may have been too woke for you.

@@jr1252 many jobs that have high degrees of responsibility (like life and death) employ higher standards than below average 'passing' and this too should be one. We aren't talking algebra but mental stability/fitness!!!

This is a great thing. They get to keep their jobs and they’re not out they’re with a happy trigger. 10% of the entire office failed. That’s scary. Some of them had to passed and got lucky. Their co workers are definitely looking at them weird how they couldn’t pass a psychological test. Also I thought they had to be evaluated before they even get a gun. We need stricter rules to become a cop. It’s longer to get a barber’s license than it is to become a cop.
