I am an old man who grew up in the coal camps of Appalachia. My father was a coal miner back in the forties through sixties, and i am reminded of something he would say when someone wasn't happy with something about him. He said 'if you don't like my peaches, don't shake my tree'. People will always complain and blame others for their deficiencies, so just let them do their whining and complaining about how it is someone else's fault because they themselves are failing. Absolutely true. I lived in London for a year and was required to pay for health care and other services while living there. I also got a job (was allowed to) and paid taxes to the UK government and I was good with that! I adapted to their society because I was a guest in their country. It was satisfying that the company I was working for asked me to stay and work for them on a continuous basis.

I have a friend whose family has been trapped in Syria throughout the Civil War when Russia invaded Ukraine and Poland and the surrounding countries absorbed 1 million Ukrainian refugees in a matter of days he called me and asked me why why will European countries except European refugees but Arab countries want nothing to do with Arab refugees? It was a painful discussion because I know how much he and his family have suffered in Syria.

I am an old man who grew up in the coal camps of Appalachia. My father was a coal miner back in the forties through sixties, and i am reminded of something he would say when someone wasn't happy with something about him. People will always complain and blame others for their deficiencies, so just let them do their whining and complaining about how it is someone else's fault because they themselves are failing. An example of this issue in the US is the "invasion" of the Twin Cities by the Somalis. They accepted the offer to not be killed in their homeland, but they refuse to assimilate in MN. They want the locals to adapt to them and not the other way around.

Absolutely true. I lived in London for a year and was required to pay for health care and other services while living there. I also got a job (was allowed to) and paid taxes to the UK government and I was good with that! I adapted to their society because I was a guest in their country. It was satisfying that the company I was working for asked me to stay and work for them on a continuous basis.

I enjoyed my time in China and hope I was able to build bridges between western and Chinese culture. I think it is important for a guest, and when I lived there I viewed myself as a guest, to adapt to the language and culture of the nation you have visited and not to try and impose your views on them.

I agree with him in that greed is the underlying basis for the problems in underdeveloped countries as well as the more developed ones. There has and always will be enough shared earthy abundance for all people. If only the few in power wouldn’t hoard, steal and sell more than their share. I am an e -pat. I do not work where I live. I spend money made in the States before retiring. My wife and I are not a burden on Mexico but an asset.
That is proof that even though they are studying in big universities, it is still not a guarantee that their way of thinking and principles in life will be professional. Many of them have remained ignorant of reality because of their stubbornness and refusal to face the truth and turn to blame others for their own weaknesses and failures.
