    since we hadn't 'click the belt down, putting tension on the belt' the roller hadn't been working. After replacing the belt and roller still not working, found your video. Yep, someone in the group had stepped on the level, hence no tension -> no turn of the roller. Embarrassing simple... and now we have an extra belt So, thanks for this video!

      Glad it helped! An extra belt is always handy, just in case!

    Glad to see your vacuum has the same thin rod to turn the belt as mine does. Fiddly to get the belt on, but at least I am not missing a part. I didn't know about the clutch, and clutch release. Will check those. I am very bummed to have the 2nd belt break in two weeks on my new vacuum. I suspect something isn't working correctly.

    Thank you for this video.
    I have 2 windtunnel vacuum machines.
    1 is the windtunnel
    1 is the whole pet windtunnel
    Are the beaterbars and belts the same for both

    My vacuum, same, Hoover Whole Home, Pet Elite, purchased in 2021 doesn’t have the little clutch thing. Assuming this is because it’s a newer version?

    • @RedBarnHomestead
      @RedBarnHomestead  หลายเดือนก่อน

      Very good chance. Of course, options come and go through the years, so it may have been deemed too expensive or not used enough to include in this model.

    I replaced the belt and it still won't engage the brush, yes the handle is down in position to vacuum. Seems the clutch might be bad. Your thoughts?

    • @RedBarnHomestead
      @RedBarnHomestead  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I think it’s just a belt tensioner, so it goes motor, brush, and tensioner which for some reason isn’t putting enough tension on your belt for it to grab. Would need further digging to see what’s broken.

    When moving the vacuum back and forth on the carpet, I have to push and pull with a lot more force than what should be normal. What's a mother to do?

    • @RedBarnHomestead
      @RedBarnHomestead  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Lift up the brush setting. If you have to fight the brush, its a little too diggy. Ideally you'll have the brush just skimming the surface and flicking up dust, dirt, and hair. You can do a deep clean, but you'd expect more resistance for that.

    What is the size or part number of the belt? That is a key part of the info that was left out for some reason.

    • @RedBarnHomestead
      @RedBarnHomestead  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      You will need to look it up by the exact part number - this one and my mum’s (the same model) are different years and have different belts!

    This video would have been a million times more useful to me if you'd gotten a better shot of the new belt package so I'd know which one to grab.

    • @heyjonbray
      @heyjonbray 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Agreed, part number would be extremely helpful in a DIY video for a specific vacuum model. Every single reference says that it is size 190, but a 190 belt is so tight that the beater is constantly spinning and pretty much immediately burning out the belt. Tried 190, 160, 80, but all of them are so tight (regardless of clutch position during install) that the house smells like burnt smoking rubber after 30 seconds.

      @@heyjonbray CHECK THE BACK OF YOUR REMOVEABLE DEBRIS CANISTERS!
      I literally JUST figured this out from this video because I had seen his said REWIND below the dirt canister thing, and so i removed mine to check (and it's NOT a REWIND, it's a UH71235, yet whole house pet though all the same - belt model number is on the back of the canister and it's 562289001)
      Yet I DO own a REWIND, just not the whole house pet kind lol
      A UH71012, belt model number 38528058
      *both of the vacuums had the belt model number printed in a blue and white sticker on the back of the debris canister, along with other info and details*
      HOPE THIS HELPS! would've saved me my Saturday night lol or at least an hour and a half of browsing for the right belt during it 😅

    The 65 doesnt include the model number I have for the Whole House Elite Pet ??? I am sooo confused

  • @scottdavis1549
    @scottdavis1549 ปีที่แล้ว

    Sadly the plastic screw holes are fit to last 2 perhaps 3 changes. Then it’s stripped. So let’s hope this is the last time they have to get removed.

    • @RedBarnHomestead
      @RedBarnHomestead  ปีที่แล้ว

      You may need to use an epoxy to fill and stiffen the holes moving forward.

    Brush not working...only works when the handle is on an angle, not vertical.The little square pedal on the back needs to be pressed so the handle is tilted back, otherwise the tensioner won't engage with the belt. I assume the reason is to not overly stretch out the belt if the vacuum isn't in operation using the beater bar/is off. You will notice when you put the handle back into the upright position that the tension lever on the front relaxes a bit, similar to when you have it in hard floor mode.

    • @RedBarnHomestead
      @RedBarnHomestead  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      That is the correct operation of the belt. It only runs if the vacuum is being pushed back and forth at an angle. When upright it is off, helps keep you from damaging things with the beater bar while using the accessory hose.

    what is the belt number i need a belt for mind

  • @birdy369

    There seems to be hoover whole house high capacity pet vacuums,
    Yet they are NOT the rewinds... model UH71235.
    Below his canister he removes in the very beginning, at the base of where it sat, says "REWIND"
    See if your model has that on it... for everyone having trouble with finding the correct belt! I'm still trying to make sure i find the correct one for my non-rewind uh71235, but i BELIEVE the belt for that model (NOT THIS ONE IN THE VIDEO) is model 562289001.
    *CONFIRM: model number above is correct for the whole house pet NON REWIND model. Said so on the back of the debris canister when i removed it lol
    Funny enough I also have the REWIND, Yet it is NOT the whole house pet version. It's a UH71012... let's check that canister... belt model number 38528058

    • @RedBarnHomestead
      @RedBarnHomestead  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Rewind is just an option, you’ll find the belt is the same. There are also different attachments based on which sub model you get, but the main belt drive is the same among all of them.

      Has it stopped working entirely? If it runs/makes noise it’s not the motor.

    • @captnjaygreybeard6394
      @captnjaygreybeard6394 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I found out that the roller will not work when the handle is in the upright position, only works when its on an angle. Some built in feature that so that it does not run when parked.

    Plastic garbage!! Good vacuums do not use a belt and, like our former 20-year old one, use a breaker in case of beater bar lockup.

    • @RedBarnHomestead
      @RedBarnHomestead  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Ours actually works great, still sucks like new, and is easy to clean. Even old Kirby’s used belts, sure you aren’t thinking canister vacuums?
