I was so mad about my brush not spinning after two uses until I took it apart and saw the belt broken. It was really dry and brittle (I don’t know how long it was sitting on the shelf at Walmart) anyway you just saved me tears after investing $145 in a good vacuum. Thank you!

I seem to go through vacuums quickly. But the brush on my current model has stopped turning (and I have had this before) your explanation is great and simple. I'm now going to change the belt myself. I have another hoover upstairs that isnt working either so I'm going to have a go at that oe and see if its the same problem. THANKS!

I was able to change the belt and either the belt I have ordered is too small or you are way stronger than me cuz I struggled to get the brush on. Also now my brush wheel will not turn. I tested it before putting the guard back on and it worked and when I put the guard on it stops.

I have the same problem, I had some belts for my mom's old vacuum in the drawer with the extra bags, but I can't stretch it to replace the broken one. Thinking it may be too old, it's not rubbery / stretchy at all, not like the one in the video. Going to see if I can get a new one and see if that stretches. Do they deteriorate like rubber bands, lose their stretching capability? It's Hoover Concept One with Power Drive, still working and it's pretty old. I also have her 50 year old Electrolux tank vacuum which works great, but it's heavy and I use the Hoover upstairs so don't have to lug the Electrolux up and down.

tried 2 belts already and its too loose (correct replacement belts) UH 72625. no tensioner or anything I'm wondering if I should try shorter belt

This is a pretty simple one. Some are much harder to replace than this.
The title implies that all Hoover vacuums are like this. They are not. Not even close.
