Ridgway State Park, Colorado RV Campground Review

Ridgway State Park is a great place to stay. It has full RV hookups (30 amp, water and sewer at site). Beautiful area with great water access. Close location to Ouray or Montrose (which puts you near Black Canyon of the Gunnison National Park).

We've stayed here several times when visiting the San Juans and love the location, convenience and amenities. The Pa-Co-Chu-Puk section has full hookups but is located very close to the highway - lotsa highway noise. We always stay at the Elk Ridge area which is water and electric and a dump station. It is located off the highway quite a ways so no road noise. Many of the sites at Elk Ridge offer stunning views of the mountains.

It appears the campsites there are all 30 amp, but doesn't your rig take 50 amps. I assume you just run 1 a/c and have adapters?

We always carry an adaptor to go down to 30amp. I can’t remember the AC being a problem but we also have lots of solar and that feeds into the AC also. We have Easy Starts on the AC units so they don’t have such a power surge and can get going. It’s also usually fall when we go here so we may not have needed as much AC.

So where is Ridgeway camp in Colorado.

It’s outside of Ouray, the so the southwestern part of the state in the San Juan mountain range. Great option if you want to see Ouray and the million dollar highway area. A lot cheaper than the private RV parks in Ouray.
