Everyone from NM needs to checkout Rio Costilla campground Fly fishing is world class with their red chile/green chile trout and right next to the beautiful Villa Vidal
La junta canyon is in the carson forest next to Sipapu, Nm it is awesome with lots of room for campers trailers. Only thing atv are aloud there. That is my most favorite campground. Lots of hiking trails as well good getaway spots
@@RobinT-treehugger Yes, I know, have camped there a couple times but you can take that road all the way to Angel Fire and you do need high clearance and 4x4.
Thanks for the video! It's always great to see this beautiful state. I grew up here but there's a lot I haven't seen that you shared. Some of my favorites are Heron lake, Abiqu lake, Pilar, El Vado lake and the Pecos river!
Interesting choices and we haven't made it to any on your list. I have bookmarked the video as I think we will in the future. We do like Santa Barbara campground and haven't had the noise issues that you experienced. We also love Enchanted Circle Campground. It is private and more expensive and the quiet that comes with it is awesome. Another one of our go to places is Heron Lake.
Hi Ron, Robin and Dylan... nice list of spots. Jack's Creek Campground said they will have water in 2024,we will see.I have been to most of the campgrounds, but plan to do them all in 2024. I met you guys when Dylan was just a pup at Jack's Creek. Mark is no longer there, my favorite place.🙏🙏🙏
Thank you for this video, we have been to half of these and agree with you on your assessments. We have never been to Columbine as we are concerned about big crowds whitch typically brings noise and generators. We are going on an exploratory trip to Hopewell to check it out in a couple of weeks. Over the years many of our historical camping areas have burned and so must find other locations. So we are headed north! Always love your videos and tree hugs. HA!
These videos are great!! So glad i found your channel. Im just getting into camping with the help of friends who are backpackers & campers. I enjoy mountain biking too and although some places dont have mountain bike trails, can always ride the forrest roads or just hike. I plan to try monzano camping since in from Albuquerque and its a close drive and mostly want to try dispursed camping, but am also interested in the Monzano State park. I need to find somwehre up by Toas to camp becauase I wana go to lost lake and ride the trail there it looks beautiful. Your videos are a great tool!
Big trailer! I’ve camped the same way as you folks and now that I’m retired, I find a nice travel trailer is m6 favorite now. But I very much prefer to disperse camp. I don’t like neighbors.
Thanks! Actually, I have a map on each campground individual map, so if there is one you want to see more info regarding, you'll find the map there. Thanks for watching!
Great video, thanks for doing this! BTW, just for the record the campground near Las Cruces (Aguirre Springs) is pronounced U-geer-ee for English/non-accented speakers, and Ah-gee-re in its native Spanish. :)
Love staying in the NM State parks. Talked with the Ranger office today. Entrance fee increase is being accessed now. Im hoping its not the stated 40$ / day thats being reported youtube
No, I don't think it will be that high... but it is going up and the Annual Camp Pass is going away completely. Odd how they are being so secretive about it.
I’ve only camped in cloudcroft and bonito lake. Like 2-3 times a year. 1-1.5 hrs away from us. I wonder how much nicer these are.. and if they’re worth the drive
It's hard to explain. I was all over the Lincoln National Forest too. I'm down in Las Cruces so everything is a drive. But the further North you go it's like different. Once you get to the Aspen trees life is good. I have Red River as number one too. Magical up there.
HI there, chances are, no, we usually do dispersed camping in the forest if we take our atv's. Generally, any campground that sees heavy use and has a camp host, does not allow atv's. Unfortunately this is a result of discourteous atv users. It's always the few who ruin it for others. We have a place in the mountains and down the road there is dispersed camping... on a weekend a large group were camping, atv's and dirt bikes and the kids ran from 8 AM to dark all day at high speeds. A neighbor went to ask them to ease up and he was pushed to the ground, breaking a hip. Police and ambulance were called. As long-time atvers we believe in courtesy, picking up litter (easy to haul on an atv), and "staying the trail" so that we can all continue to enjoy. Happy camping and atving!
No, I don't think any of the National Forest campgrounds allow ATVs, and none of the state parks. Your best bet is BLM or boondocking locations. Sorry!
HI, if you watch the videos I have made for each campground, you will find the prices. Fact is, for us, the campgrounds are picked for this video because they are our FAVORITES and price plays no factor. Besides that, we don't go to RV parks with fancy amenities, so none of our campground reviews are expensive places. Most of them are in the $10-20 per night range.
@@RobinT-treehugger With all due respect, I don't know how you can review campgrounds in a video and not include the prices. To me, that is mindboggling.
To save you some time in the beginning of the video just say this was your top 10 campgrounds because of all the hiking you can do and that all these campgrounds get busy during the weekends so to reserve fast or get there early instead of saying the same thing over again. Good video though

Allowed
Drove from Tres Ritos to Angel Fire thru LA Junta, beautiful drive but you do need 4 wheel drive and high clearance.

Nice video. Thanks. I’m surprised that Rockhound State Park didn’t make the list!
Gosh, it was so hard to whittle it down to 10, we just couldn't include all of the ones we loved. We did love that one! Thanks for watching.
This is really helpful. Thanks so much.😊

Cosmic Campground in the Gila National Forest. my favorite! Nice video, also was amazed by City of Rocks!
We had planned to do Cosmic this Spring but the weather didn't agree, so we're hoping to get to it in Fall. Thanks for watching!

Nice choices. We enjoy Datil Wells, also Percha Dam (south of Truth or Consequences).
Thanks. We haven't been to Percha Dam yet, maybe later this year. Thanks for watching.
Have you camped at Angel Peak up near Bloomfield? I'm from Farmington and go there often. It's like camping on the edge of a mini Grand Canyon!
We stopped there once to check it out and did a short video. It looks amazing. Thanks for watching!

Mora campground in the Pecos is great!
Haven't been there yet, hopefully this year we will get back up to the Pecos! Thanks for watching.

Thanks for the info on these campgrounds. I knew of many but you’ve given me several more places to try!😉

No. We stay away from RV camps for the most part.. We like a bit more space and privacy than they usually offer. Thanks for watching!
