I would urge you to check out the whole Carolus Rex album from start to finish. For me, It's my favourite album from Sabaton. The music, the lyrics, the way they managed to complete the 2 albums during the turmoil going on with the band is epic.
The song is from their 2012 album, Carolus Rex. They just made the lyric video for it. The last album with Oskar Montelius and Rikard Sunden on guitar, Daniel Mullback on drums, and Daniel Myhr on keyboards. Those 4 left shortly after this and formed a new band called Civil War. Lead singer joakim Broden and bassist Par Sundstrom continued on with Chris Rorland and Thobbe Englund on guitar and drummer Robin Back. Hannes Van Dahl took over the drums in 2014, and Tommy Johansson replace Thobbe in 2016.
Gustav Adolph II was the King who brought Sweden into the 30-years war. The result for the Swedish soldiers and people in that war led to the emotions expressed in ' En livstid i krig' which you have experienced already.
I was at a Sabaton concert in April this year here in Sweden. They are so crazy good live, it was also crazy fun, they really give their fans everything 🤘🤘🤘 This song is even better when they sing it in Swedish 🤘🤘🤘
Der löwe aus der mitternacht was an old German lore. That at some tome of need there would apear a Lion fron the land of the midnightsun. Gustavus II Adolphus played on that lore and sent notions that he was the "Löwe aus det Mitternacht". That was before he went into the 30 year war in 1630.
This just makes me so proud of being Swedish! we used to be so great and defeating all our enemies untill our empire ended by a bullet that no one knows where it came from, enemy or friend and it is almost haunting to think about it
”Augustus” pretty much ravaged armies by use of combined arms (infantry and chavalry together with both mobile and heavy artillery). Hence the lines ”The future of warfare unveiled…”
If you want another extremely powerful and super energising song, try Sparta, the power is insane, you literally can go threw walls after listening that
Awesome reaction man! This song has such incredible challenging drum parts. I would call it the swedish version of Eagle Fly Free for the drummer. Double bass endurance till the end! 🤘🤘🤘
Carolus rex is, imo, the best Sabaton album ever! It was released 2012 in 2 versions: English and Swedish. They expected Swedish version will be nice bonus for their fans in Sweden, but to their surprise, the English version was completely ignored in Sweden and the album was a huge hit. I'm not Swedish but I have to agree that while the Engilsh version is amazing, Swedish version is much better; a masterpiece
Not true, since they always considered the Swedish version the main version. From their own website "Truth be told, upon completing the recording process, we anticipated that many listeners, including English speakers, would prefer the Swedish version over the English one." "...it didn’t take long for everyone there to agree that the Swedish version was what mattered the most out of the two. After that eventful evening, we reached out to our record label, Nuclear Blast, and explained that we wanted to prioritise the Swedish version for release. They thought we were completely mad and our idea was met with scepticism, but after some discussions, they eventually came around. Even today they agree that the Swedish version is superior! "
Excellent reaction. So many awesome Sabaton songs, but if you like medieval then Swedish Pagans or Winged Hussars is a must. If you do a live version of Swedish Pagans, try the Wacken 2019 show. It was their 20th anniversary, and they had the old band members and Tina Gou on cello as guests playing on two stages, something never done before. And speaking of old band members, the band Civil War was founded by ex-Sabaton members and also does historical themed music. Try Rome is Falling or The Colors on My Shield. subscribed and starting to check your older reactions. Saty safe and keep rocking🤘🤘🤘
I just love the bridge part and the eagle - lion analogy. fyi the HRE flag was an eagle and Gustavus Adolphus was called the lion from the north, who beat the Holy Roman Empire
Haha, you've got quite the historical knowledge there! I love how the song incorporates the bridge part and the eagle-lion analogy too. It's like a musical tribute to Adolphus, and his triumph over the Holy Roman Empire. History and music coming together in a kickass way! 🦁🎶🦅
If you read science fiction at all look up the book series that began with 1632... Heck it's free over on Baen. Gustavus Rex, King of Sweden and for a short time Northern Germany. One of those leaders that died way too fast, but left a dramatic change in the way the world worked. Most of the things he has credited for he was not the original inventor of, but what he was is the one who adopted a large number of them and then proved them successful. For northern Europe, the lion of the North literally could only be him, because of the massive body blow the people and governments of Northern Europe took during his campaign. The 30 years War, which was extraordinarily destructive by the standards of that time, and more or less ensured the weakness of Germany into the late 1800s.
@@JammersMetalMischief entertainingly enough most of the collection is in the Free library there. The author was one of the founders of the Free library, and his publishers have quite happily insured that his books are there ever since. Although obviously if you can get the paper version because it's a much more fun book to read. But those aren't normally free
want some punch right in the face? Listen to "Wolfpack" by Sabaton. Its about the "Golden time" of the german U-Boot Waffe hunting down almost every ship in early `42 on the east coast of the US
Historically, this was an important moment. Drive the dogmatic and cruel institution of the Catholics, south. Your relationship with God is yours, not through the corrupt Pope. Of course, it was kings fighting... however... it did obviously effect the European history. Look at the countries today ;) It was 1 piece of the puzzle for Freedom.
You actually do not need the fairs use in the begining, sabaton enjoys when people react to their music, they understand it just brings more traffick to their channel and more people buy merch/cds/tickets because of it! They are amazing as a band, they spread their music more with being understanding how the internet works with traffic gets them more in everything, they make songs that every single song of theirs from history and does not change or twist any of the information, as shown from their own history channel for their songs covering the meaning of the songs so people do not missunderstand them. Oh and their songs are absolut bangers, there are VERY few songs i don't think are really good!
the band may like it, but their record label still denies me the ability to monetize. i agree that they are a staggeringly talented band and they make music that im going to be enjoying for years. they appeal IMMENSELY to my inner history nerd- so much so that i have a sabaton song scheduled EVERY. SINGLE. WEEK. for the next 5 months.
This album (Carolus Rex) is the crown jewel of Sabatons production. Its on its own level.
ill get through it all eventually hahah! thanks for watching
Personally think The Last Stand album is better, but to each their own.
I would urge you to check out the whole Carolus Rex album from start to finish. For me, It's my favourite album from Sabaton. The music, the lyrics, the way they managed to complete the 2 albums during the turmoil going on with the band is epic.

They should have focused on consolidating the lands of Scandinavia before going through Eastern Europe

@@JammersMetalMischief As far as i know their label hasn't copyright struck anyone, not that i have heard off, but better be safe than sorry!
@@PInnHeAd i have not been struck by them, but the claims stop anything but pure enjoyment. if you *appeal claims, you CAN get struck.
Of course its better...... Its about SWEDEN ;)
