  • We need to be intentional about finding, and keeping, love in our lives. #1 Sunday Times bestselling author, award-winning podcast host of On Purpose and Chief Purpose Officer of Calm Jay Shetty thinks the purpose of life is to understand how to love ourselves, each other, and the world.
In this chat with Fearne, Jay talks about why he’s fascinated by the place where ancient wisdom meets modern science; it’s at this intersection that he believes the rules of love lie. They also talk about why we might have to put ourselves in uncomfortable situations in order to find the greatest self-love - we have to recognise the tough things we’ve experienced in order to find confidence and pride.
Jay's second book, ‘8 Rules of Love’ is available to buy at 8RulesofLove.com and wherever books are sold.

It’s only when we love ourselves can we learn to love others.

@@liya2460first get to know yourself, spend time with yourself, explore places alone, do things that you love to do (like painting), journal daily (you'll get to know yourself more) .

Being liked on social media is hyper-toxic. This is because those likes can switch to dislikes at any moment, if you say the wrong thing, or worse still, allow your authentic self to ‘say the wrong thing’ you will be cancelled and shamed. When you ‘buy’ into being liked you literally hand your self esteem away.

I think there is also a very real risk of people 'loving themselves too much' that they are also incapable of loving another

No matter how much I’ve loved, no matter how much I’ve given to a relationship, it didn’t seem to matter, because a man worthy of such love won’t be able to reciprocate that love back unless he loves and respects himself 💔 ❤️‍🩹 ❤
