DJI has released the DJI Ronin 4D Flex, with the camera head on a 2 meter cable. This reduces the handheld weight down to roughly 4 lbs. I would be curious to hear your thoughts on this new model.
@GrandpaSStudio since I have been saving them there is at least 6 spots to save autofocus parameters of manual lenses but honestly you might be able to save even more.
By far some of the best 4D footage I've seen! Amazing job dude! I just used this camera last week at an event and instantly fell in love. I just ordered my 4D today! Glad I came across your video for some extra tips! Appreciate you, bro!
Hey man, love your videos! Your work on the ronin 4D videos made me buy the camera. Everything has worked great so far, it’s just been the auto focus for manual lenses that keeps bugging me, the focus keeps getting stuck on noses and glasses on people, have you ever run into this issue?
Great video!, i have this camera the past year and it is amazing. Purchase recommendations: 1.Sony e mount as it is most versatile and you can add adapters to put in vintage lenses like canon fd 55mm ssc! 2.hight bright 7" monitor (4d tx video transmitter sold separately) control camera and not even touch 4d! 3. Three channel follow focus. Its just amazing, pull focus at three resistance levels, zoom, create limit points, control iris, and the wheel and iris bar light up if you want!! 4. Tilta arm to lighten the load on long use
@tylerjanik2132 Witch e mount adapter did you use for the canon fd lens? I just ordered the K&F e mount to fd lens adaptor and it doesnt fit the ronin 4D e mount
This is my dream camera. Thank you so much for covering everything about it. I heard it can be attached things like cars and can also do wireless controlling of the axis, which was something I was interested in. I also am wondering if it truly is impossible to mount it on a tripod or if you knew of a thing to make that possible. Massive thanks and please continue when able! This was awesome!
Just screw a baseplate at the bottom and slide it into the tripod. As any other camera. Cool thing is, with the wireless monitor You can control de camera remotely so You can pan, Tilt and Even get a Hand held look without holding the camera.
There are so many different pieces that make up the 4D kit. Just reference our Kit link in the description for everything you would need. You just dont need the focus gear since your lenses already come with them and then you need the correct mount adapter based on your type of lens mount.
love those leica R and 4D i have too, super cool video thx. But i prefer r3d for sure, more cinematic, dji works very great for corporate/weddings/events but not that much "cinematic" even if this means nothing, too personal ahah
Great video and great review. Been thinking of renting it for a wedding to test out and although the footage is beautiful, I'm just getting more and more worried that the 4D will neutralize any personal touches and creativity, and that everyone's footage will just end up being easily recognizable as "4D footage". But I suppose it depends on how they get used by operators. Still a very intriguing camera I'd love to try out, though
Creativity is how you use it. If smooth gimbal shots is not creative, then all gimbal shots would be out the window. I can get most of the same shots on the 4D that I can on a RS2 gimbal. The ergonomics and functionality and lenses will be what makes it unique, but sometimes those wont translate to viewers. Filming on the 4D won't neutralize personal touches or creativity in our opinion. Just another tool. How you decide to use it is up to you.
Great review! I'd love to hear more about the insane file sizes and storage options! Is it really just the proprietary SSD for ~700USD (1TB) that works? And the codecs seems badly made for longer weddings/documentaries when it comes to file sized. With a bmpcc 6k pro I have BRAW set on 12:1 compression, so the file sizes are smaller, but I chew through around 1.5 TB each wedding. If I had to pay 700$ pr. TB, I wouldn't make any money 😅
yes as long as the primes have autofocus capabilities. to use any manual lenses, you need lidar technology. imagine if lidar can be used on any camera without the need for a ronin or 4d. That could also be game changer.
Yes it comes with the lidar Focus, however, it doesn't come with the conversion. From manual focus lenses to auto focus as the lenses. It was built with have in built auto focus. So you would have to buy a $269 accessory that. Would be able to do that. And that's honestly not a lot of money in comparison to the rest of the camera. As 4-D Six k With out a lens is only $6.7000. Right now of im not mistaken.
It only has one recording option which is CF Express. To record to the SSD, you need the additional CF Express module which then allows you to attach the PROSSD. It's not possible to write to the card/drive 2 files at the same time.
Rented this for 2 commercial shoots. Sure you can achieve the same with other gear, but nowhere near as easily. Plus, the subtle motion perfections make this THE camera for commercial shoots with small crews
I don’t have a fly-by-wire lens to test out which would probably cause some issues as the LiDAR needs hard stops to calibrate. So I don’t think you can utilize a lens like that and get good autofocus results.
What did I not cover about the DJI 4D that you would like to know?

Calibration of vintage lenses so they are autofocus in settings
@@Filmgoblin and how many extra lenses setup you can save to camera. Ronin RS3 Pro has only 3 spots

To be completely honest, this review of the Ronin 4D is top-notch, yet it has only received a mere 2600 views.
post and share in groups to increase that number. I appreciate your engagement here in the comments. That also helps.
Fantastic review
The joy I felt seeing the bad boys shot at the end is indescribable. Great review man. Loved seeing you master this thing IRL. The footage is insane!
thanks so much for your modeling man! the camera loves you ;)

Bro thanks I just picked up this camera! I’m so stoked!
Awesome video man, looked like lots of fun at the workshop.
it sure was! thanks for watching.
Fascinating to see all these special camera movements!
Thanks so much friends!
Thank you very much for this interview a few days ago. Really love the camera. I agree. It's a bit too heavy, but what easy week would be perfect
It is a great camera and fun to play with.
One of the rare 4d footage that looks cinematic.
Would you recommend this for a feature film ?

Witch e mount adapter did you use for the canon fd lens?
I just ordered the K&F e mount to fd lens adaptor and it doesnt fit the ronin 4D e mount
You did a nice job with the grade. This is one of the few images from the 4D I thought had something to it.
This video is incredible!
Thanks bud!
You are the best

Saw that Komodo in your hand a few weeks ago too... vid on that coming up?
Hehe yes. I also have the blackmagic 6k pro I’ve been playing with. I need to crank out more vids for sure.
@@Whiteinrevery Excellent. I'm picking up that DLOG conversion lut and wanna test it out on the mavic 3. Great vids as always!
Would it possible to rig the lidar pro on it
This makes me want to trade my fx6 in.
Can you your own camera in the frame?
To use the Ronin with manual lenses what gear do I need to buy? the DJI Focus Motor ? anything else? the lenses already have focus gear rings

all subjective. i get it.
Muito bom, um absurdo de qualidade este equipamento!
it's a really lovely setup for sure.
Next year, this will be my main gear purchase. I shouldn’t need anything else by the end of this year. 😂😅

I have no real use other than my own curiosity, but I’d love to try some crazy stuff like my 50/0.95 on that beast
that would be sick!!!! Also, thanks for the help when I called about that summilux lens. it's gorgeous for sure.
Nice video! the small lumix s5 II with Ronin Rs3 mini and small L mount primes will be great too! :)

Wie viel kostet dieses Objektiv?
Leica Summilux-M 35mm f/1.4 ASPH. Lens (Black, 2022 Version)
How did you create you own 3D in resolve? What was your workflow?

How does manual focus feel like on a fly-by-wire lens with the Ronin 4D?
I don’t have a fly-by-wire lens to test out which would probably cause some issues as the LiDAR needs hard stops to calibrate. So I don’t think you can utilize a lens like that and get good autofocus results.
You can get E, L, M mounts and use a Lot of autofocus lens. I own the E mount with Sony AF and I really like it.
expensive run and gun, i will go with my rig, i dont see myself holding this for long hours
I would only use it for certain moments throughout a wedding day and not hold that the entire wedding either. Haha weight definitely can take a toll
@@Whiteinrevery agree my back can't take this for long time hahaha
