But one of the biggest reasons is: using Brainstorm alongside a shuffle effect (ie: fetchlands) is usually more useful than not wanting to waste one mana before untap step. But let's discuss it in this deck with no fetchlands. Even then, when you play it on your own turn, you get access to one extra card from your draw step you can use to factor into your decision on what cards to put back on deck. Sometimes you'll draw a card you would've drawn next turn with a Brainstorm you cast on the opponent's turn. Which meant you could've saved your Brainstorm for a turn when you REALLY needed it. Like maybe you really need to draw into a counterspell with none in hand.
