    Best part the sigh at 12:32 when you realize that you still have a problem 😂
    nice work! I like your normal and humble approach and that you are showing really how much time and usually mistakes you need to get through to get things working.
    Thanks for the video Ray 👏

      OMG, that's hilarious! Hard to believe I actually enjoy this work. It is, however, often like banging your head against the wall. If feels so good when you stop!

    I would have loved to be in the room to hear the true magic coming from that Amp. Nice job, sir!

      Thanks Rick! As always, I learned what to do as well as what not to do. Guess that's how we gain experience. 😁

    Those Yamaha amps are not easy to work. Yes. For the reasons you mentioned. My favorite repairs are the very same you had with this unit but there’s no money in it. Definitely an experience and a bit of fun. A puzzle to be sure. I loved the part where you say “I’m not very intelligent and not the greatest tech but I don’t give up”. That’s me too! Humility is is our strong point. I believe we techs all feel that way. We know that there is so many different approaches and things we don’t know. The complicated circuits, twist and turns can make any repair turn into trouble. I’m glad I’m not the only one who can spend a ton of time on a repair. I can’t believe I haven’t subscribed already. I’ve seen your algorithm and even watched some installments. I’m hooked now.

    Wow Ray. You took on quite a messy situation with this amp. Amazing how you stayed with it and got the amp working beautifully.

      Thanks Jared. I kept putting it off, knowing it was going to be a rough one. I'm sorry I waited so long to do it.

    Nice job Ray. You just reminded me to check for oxcillation on the Nikko I'm working on. Was running fine then I went to set the idle and upset the two trimmers, really twitchy and dirty i ordered replacements and will be installing them this eve... hoping it cures the protection mode issue that i didnt have before upsetting them. I always get a tip or twoi from your videos, appreciated !

    As always, impressed by your diagnostic skill. Looking forward to getting that other amp we discussed back in operation soon. In the meantime, the Dynaco ST 150 is working great.

    Dear Ray,
    Excellent video. Thanks.
    Should the power at the amplifier outputs be approximately the same when inputting sine signals with varying frequencies around 1-10 kHz when the sine power at the input is constant?

    • @raygianelli3612
      @raygianelli3612  ปีที่แล้ว

      Uri, nice to see you!
      In a perfect world they should be the same. But due to component age, tolerance, potentiometer wear and other factors, they rarely are. Good news is that they have to be pretty different before our ears can detect it.
      Depending on how flat the frequency response of the amp is, they can vary by frequency too.

    Not a complaint, but a little feedback... You did a great job of explaining what the problems were and your solutions. However, you gave the verbal talk over video of various meters. I would have preferred to see what you had done on the board... For example, the wire twisting that your were describing. HTH. Cheers.

    • @raygianelli3612
      @raygianelli3612  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Appreciate the feedback! Wire wrap is used in industry and you've seen if you've looked in many Japanese receivers from the 70's. Here's a video of the process:
