Yes indeed in the land of its birth, steelpan makers and tuners appear to be scarce until Panorama comes around during TnT Carnival. Here you will experience many bands small and large comprising guitar pan, tenor, bass etc. Many locals and tourists go around to the various panyards to listen to their favourite band practise. Finals take place at the Queen's Park Savannah, commonly called the big yard. Come on over sometime, our Carnival is one of the best ☺.
FYI: as a teenager I found an old oil drum and brought it home to do this and believe me, however hard you think it is to make one it's at least 5x harder. Turns out you've really gotta know what you're doing and not just bash away or you'll eventually weaken the metal and it'll crack and be unplayable. I ruined one side, and thought I understood how much and hard to hit it by learning from my mistakes and then proceeded to ruin the other side 😅. I think I wasted about a week in total and got oil stains in my car.
Props that you tried though. We used to make bows and crossbows when we were teenagers. But literally had no idea of how to go about it, and I am pretty sure the library even didn't have that sort of how-to technical book. Eventually my group of friends worked out a lot of the tricks other people already knew, and we mane some fairly good crossbows, each one better than the next. Now you can look for a tutorial for anything on the net.

Not even this guy can do it
Yes indeed in the land of its birth, steelpan makers and tuners appear to be scarce until Panorama comes around during TnT Carnival.
He is not only a craftsman, but also musician.
That's amazing. I give that guy props. His ears have likely taken a beating from the grinding and sawing. Yet, he still can fine tune the instrument.
He's pretty smart though he's got hearing protection on.
Мужик, ты бесподобен. Такие люди 100% с другой планеты. Моё уважение👍

Super cool design!!! Great music
Old dude is the OG for sure!
Right hahahahahsh
Whoever made these or invented these is brilliant. They sound so cool and always make you feel like you're on a tropical island
It was born in trinidad and tobago
@Jay Cee if you’re referring to “Day O or Banana Boat” that is a *traditional Jamaican song* about the overnight workers on docks loading bananas onto boats. The song you probably know was made in *1956.*
*Well before the film Beetle Juice*
@@firekrueger3987 thanks
@Jay Cee I think you mean Harry _Belafonte_
Right ?
What a beautiful way to reduce waste and make people all happy at the same time
Seems like one of the coolest dudes one can ever meet ❤
He's Trinidadian, not Jamaican. Steel pan was invented in Trinidad. That's our accent
Idk how you mistook him for Jamaican
Are we all aware of the genius mind it takes to produce this. Absolutely crazy 🙌🏾
Calm down, it's a steel drum, not a communications satellite.
@@slappy8941make one then
@@slappy8941🤡
@@slappy8941 There’s always one ☝🏾 😂. Okay, you got a little attention - Fuck off now. Cheers 👍
It’s crazy that he did that in only 60 seconds
Was thinking the same thing😂
😂🤣
That's too much time he needs to hurry up
Whoever came up with the first steel pan needs a humanitarian award
This dude has the enlightened smile of a Buddha. He definitely knows something about the higher.
