The pilot had the feeling of a previously failed anime project, Sarutobi Ecchan. Sarutobi Ecchan which was another anime produced by Toei Video failed because of it's overexaggeratedness in terms of comedy. It sorta had that feeling and I kinda had a feeling that if they aired it within this state, Arale probably would've failed just like how Sarutobi did.

Little is known about this pilot, but I think it's supposed to be the entire first episode. The only other thing I've found related to it are some postcards which depict later scenes, like when Arale is in school playing ball. That's it really. I hope more info comes out now that part of the pilot exists in such a pristine quality.

He's not black. Japanese people aren't all light skinned. Many who live in southern Japan get dark skinned. My Grandfather was full Japanese and was very dark skinned. He grew up in Hawaii.
