The nostalgia is both haunting and beautiful !

That beautiful hotel!! How sad to see it demolished. Downtown Reno was so beautiful before the 1960s and onward. It's a trashy mini Las Vegas now.

MM had the opportunity to work with some truly stellar actors...Montgomery Clift, Eli Wallach, Thelma Ritter, Kevin McCarthy and of course Clark Gable. She couldn't measure up and she knew it. Sad.

I watch the Mapes destroyed so a homeless bum hang out could be made in its place. I watched the beautiful historic Virginia st. Bridge demolished and replaced with an ugly piece of modern art. I watched and am still watching as a once beautiful piece of american history is being ereased at a incredible pace to line the pockets of gready disgusting politicians and bureaucrats. Reno used to be paradise, a great place to live, and a great place to raise a family now it's just an extension of the filth and greed that makes up California. If you don't want your beautiful city destroyed do not let Californians move in.

I arrived in Reno in 1970 at 12 years old after my Dad died a year earlier. Went to Clayton, Reno High, and WNCC/UNR. Getting your drivers license and cruising Virginia was like heaven. I left in 1988, my brothers are still there along with some friends that I star in contact with. I visit every year, and the place has no soul, no life...What you said, I could not have said it any better. Sad.
