Jennifer Albert she really is! She doesn’t shy away from those “hard” to talk about topics when it comes to letting people use her platform to spread awareness. I want to see more of it! 🙂
Not too long ago Whoopi on the View wore a necklace gifted to her from Canada that honoured the aboriginal women lost on the highway of tears. She even took a moment to explain it during the show. Really great to see more recognition around this topic!
jordantyana I sometimes feel like I have no where to go for all the questions I have. So yes it’s so wonderful to see woman bringing this stuff to light. It’s all there, we just have to keep searching.
I had the privilege of hearing him speak many years ago in London. He has been my hero ever since. A remarkable man who does astonishing work for people who are forgotten. A true hero of our times!
There is a white criminal attorney here in Los Angeles, very wekk know. For many years he has spent his summer vacation working at the SPLC in Alabama working in a similar capacity (wrongly convicted) as Mr. Stevenson, pro bono. They are all silent heros.
This man is a living hero. Our university selected Just Mercy as the freshman common read. This book broke me down. I had to also facilitate a small group discussion with 15 students. It was powerful. I want to thank him for his voice and his platform.
Almost done reading the book, ''The Sun Does Shine'' that is another story of Bryan Stevenson getting an innocent man out of death row after 30 years in there. I highly recommend it. He is a hero and deserves the Presidential medal of freedom.
Patricia Powell don't forget that she helps millions of black peoples constantly , some of whom would be destitute without her help. Don't judge, she is spreading the education widely and that is worth more than a one off $50,000
Bryan Stevenson and his Equal Justice Initiative are so deserving of the donation. Such a lovely gesture, Ellen and Green Dot Bank. Mr. Stevenson has been such a champion for the wronged, while in some cases dealing with discrimination and profiling himself. A very articulate and dignified gentleman and scholar. Michael B. As stated in the clip "THIS IS A MUST SEE." I was fortunate to see a premiere screening 3 weeks ago in Los Angeles and Bryan Stevenson was present. I know about Stevenson's work so my hope is those who see the film are inspired to educate themselves on this issue as well as getting a better understanding of the systemic issues which still are a cancer on our society.
I don't speak English very well, English is my third languages. But when I heard him, the lawyer's speech or the way he talked. He is genuine person, truthful, he is real hero...
I am always proud to say I am from Montgomery, AL and absolutely love the Equal Justice Initiative for putting history in the forefront, fighting for our present and our future, as well as what they've done for the world, but not limited to minorities, however, in particular for a very personal reason for me and my family's own reasons! 💯
This is the first time I’ve ever seen Ellen nervous 😂! This man needs to lead the talks. But we need white Americans to come to the table and actually listen. The little time he was on here was so powerful and informative. But ppl don’t care if it’s not effecting their race or family. 🤷🏽♀️🤦🏾♀️

Amazingly done, thank you all for bringing this sad yet fascinating story to us. The generous Ellen De Generes 💓 God bless Bryan Stevenson and team, richly. With love from Namibia. 💕
Last night I watched Just Mercy. Once we were done, I held in the tears all the way until me and my sister we alone in her room. I then continued to start sobbing my eyes out uncontrollably. I was heartbroken that those things happen. And still do. I like to think that I’m a very... present type of person? I know what is going on in the world, and sometimes I do not approve of it. But the movie.... I loved it. And more people need to see it. Even the younger ones. I was not ready to watch the movie. I had no clue what it was about nor did anyone in my family give me a heads up. But I’m kind of glad they didn’t, because I saw the whole image. “Some people need to be hurt, to be heard” - my sister, while comforting me last night.
What an amazing human being Bryan Stevenson!! It is for people like him that this world has hope! I saw the movie it’s a MUST SEE!!!! 5 stars!!! You have to see it!! 🙌🏼
Thank you Ellen for allowing this serious incredibly important conversation to be had on your platform. I love that your show is fun but touching on these important issues is everybody’s responsibility. - A continued Ellen fan.
I had the opportunity to listen to a lecture that Bryan Stevenson gave at my school. After reading the book and getting an idea for what this man stands for it was truly moving and powerful to hear someone who pushed for an end to systemic racism in our criminal justice system. Great speaker, amazing man, truly inspired.
Thank you Ellen for doing this interview. Bryan Stevenson is an amazing man. This is what real heroes look like. A hero exposing us to other heroes. Love ya!
I first got to know Bryan Stevenson from TED Talk several years ago. His use of language was so easy to understand and his voice so soothing, and he talked about something very important. That’s what drove me to buy and read his book Just Mercy. The book itself is also very easy to read yet delivers very important messages that are hidden behind in society. I still re-read this book once in a while to this day!
“Just Mercy” is the most awakening presentation of our national crisis with race. If you can read it without emotional reaction, you need to check if you have a heart. Another comment in this chain suggests that Mr. Stevenson should receive the Presidential Medal of Freedom is SO TRUE - unfortunately, our current administration is at the polar opposite of this situation. My prayers are with the EJI in knowing they shall overcome.
Bryan Stevenson is so well spoken, so noble and honestly you can see God working through him! God continue to bless this man and give him the strength to continue to fight for the less fortunate! Also the way he spoke about Michael B Jordan was just so authentic and beautiful💕

I read the book a few years before the movie came out after I watch Bryan Stenson being interviewed on Al Jazeera (US). I am glad I did. It is something different when you read the book and then see the movie as opposed to the reverse.
