    In an engaging and personal talk -- with cameo appearances from his grandmother and Rosa Parks -- human rights lawyer Bryan Stevenson shares some hard truths about America's justice system, starting with a massive imbalance along racial lines: a third of the country's black male population has been incarcerated at some point in their lives. These issues, which are wrapped up in America's unexamined history, are rarely talked about with this level of candor, insight and persuasiveness.
    Talk by Bryan Stevenson.

    Thank you Mr. Stevenson for giving this speech and thank you TED for putting it online. As more and more people are introduced to the ideas and lessons brought forth here, than more and more people will be able to achieve a higher understanding of their own lives and the world around them. More and more people will awaken and take action, take steps to better us all. Thank you.

    Lemuel's lesson that his mother taught him: "it is not for kings, O Lemuel, it is not for kings to drink wine; nor for princes strong drink...open thy mouth, judge righteously, and plead the cause of the poor and needy "
    (Proverbs 31:4,9). Mr. Stevenson's virtue and identity manifested unto greatness through the lesson that his grandmother instilled in him. And that lesson came from the Bible, God's holy Word. Words of wisdom. Godly wisdom. Glory to God for the work and charge given and entrusted to Mr. Stevenson. May His stewardship go forth as a lightening rod

      I found it very interesting that the sharing of his personal conviction and code of ethics impacted the weight of his sharing his mission for justice in my hearing. We need more leaders who live the convictions of justice they fight for like Mr. Stevenson.

    Excellent TED Talk. Now if people would stop arguing about science and God and get their butts in gear and help people rise out of poverty maybe we can get this country and all other countries back on track.

    This talk is very moving. I took from this the idea that every thing we do has two sides we have to reconcile to truly consider that a step towards progress. From now on I vow to commit myself to socially responsible design and never lose hope in our struggle for justice. Long Live Bryan Stevenson

    No one will ever negate the fact that the programmable programmed matter inside of us proves we have a Maker not made of matter because matter is not able to make itself programmable and matter is not able to programme itself.
    Only our Maker Himself is able to cover our sin, transform us and translate us into eternity because no one else can.
    That is the absolute truth that no one will ever disprove.

    I especially liked the family memories and urging us to look back at our history (9:46) and let it help open our eyes to our present injustices. I can't help feeling that Mr. Stevenson's work, while important, will never get anywhere if we don't have better education (watch Waiting for Superman - school choice is the path forward) and make real efforts to rescue the traditional family and end abortion (which disproportionately affects Blacks as well). Address root problems.

    Matter is programmable and programmed inside of you proving that you do have a Maker not made of matter because matter is not able to make itself programmable and matter is not able to programme itself.
    Matter can only ever do what it is forced to do so matter is what is directed and matter is not able to direct anything without first being directed to direct.
    Your Maker is not made of or limited by matter because He made matter and programmed it to be all of the different kinds of life forms.

    Highest rate of incarceration and people don't think we have a moral problem?
    That many people in jail are not there for no reason.
    Yes, there is injustice. We still have a moral problem that only the truth can correct.
    We need to stop lying to children, telling them, that they are animals, that evolved.
    We have a Maker not made of matter because matter is not able to make us.
    Just tell the truth.
    ...and lack of opportunity is also a real problem.

    Twenty-some minutes of talking about social justice, a dozen or so comments hung up on a single use of the word 'evolved'. Not saying this is the problem, just saying it's likely not part of the solution.

    The so-called maker couldn´t not exist, because everything is made of matter. How do you know if matter is even programmable? Maybe it is, maybe it isn´t, but how do you know. Where do you get all that information from? Please, don´t tell me that you got it from the maker, because that is not something believeable. Tell me more about your maker, if you can. Thanks xb

  • @nuarius
    @nuarius 11 ปีที่แล้ว

    Why does everyone act like creationism and evolution cant co-exist?
    is it a lack of understanding of what evolution is?
    is it a case of religion being afraid it will be snuffed out?

    Everyone believes in different things, what´s right and wrong in their opinion, but in reality there is no evidence of the real truth. Everything can be turn into false. Religion and evolution too.

  • @JungleJargon
    @JungleJargon 11 ปีที่แล้ว

    It is not about religion, it is about truth.
    Evolution does not exist and no evidence has ever supported what does not exist.
    Of course people fight over the truth and that is not the fault of the truth.
    True teaching does no harm.

    "No evidence?" How about the bones that have been found of intermediate stages between apes and humans, the fact that snakes have hips, and the numerous genetic similarities between different species?
    I don't claim to have a deep understanding of the Bible, but I make an effort to know what's in it. Your previous statement shows fairly clearly that you make no such attempt to know what evolution is.

    That is one of the laziest excuses to not try and prove your point that I've heard. And this is coming from the guy who declares that we have a "Maker" and that we all have descended from three guys and their wives, but won't give any evidence that we all link back to them or that they even existed.
    Neither have you. So take your own advice and please shut up already and go talk about your beliefs elsewhere.
