    Awesome voice. Deep, filling voice. Strong, sud. He reminds me of Gerome Hines, another great Basso profundo.

    He can get down. He could’ve easily performed this in a much lower key with the same resonance with the lower notes and more “ring” in the higher notes. I always enjoy hearing Mr. Ames sing.

    Aside from John Ames beautifully unique voice but what I love most about this man is his performance ability and expression. Kohn is the true definition of an artist and im glad the operatic world got to experience such artistry before the pandemic

      Yeah I am a basso profundo but when I want more volume in the low register I us subharmonics. I am only 20 so my voice will get a lot deeper as I get older. I can sing A0 in chest voice.

      Not every bass looks like a bear. Furlanetto is a rather thin guy, so was Ghiaurov and Siepi.

      He has a thick neck that is usually a what you can go off of size of the guy doesn't mean he will have a deeper voice. I have seen guys 6 foot four 300 plus pounds singing high tenor and 5 foot 6 and 135 guys singing bass.

      Bass voices are becoming more popular but yeah guys that sound like women are what is in style for some reason. Give a bass singer a microphone guarantee you women will come and watch because boy if you are a gut that can sing deep and low it will vibrate your body. The only.problem is many stario systems can't handle it. Tim foust is not even a true Basso profundo and he has accidentally blown some stario systems.

      @@bronsonleach3573 The amplification and audio setting is what can destroy speakers. A basso profundo may just cause more clipping if the settings are bad.

    Not sure why one of the World’s best operatic basses is performing in a strip mall for people wearing 1950’s style State Fair attire. Covid rules are strange. Maybe Rogers and Hammerstein are somewhere near. Awesome performance nonetheless.

    I have a problem listening to these deep voices..
    The notes makes me twitch. They don't 'resonate' with me in a pleasant way.
    Is that weird?

    Is he an opera singer? There are no real basses in opera anymore. Everybody is a ‘bass-baritone’, which covers badly trained basses with poor low notes and badly trained baritones with poor high ones.

      I as an up and coming opera singer who has studied other singers well can confirm that most of the real Basses in opera have either passed away or retired leaving very few true operatic Basses. One great modern day true operatic Bass aside from John Ames is Andrew W Porter.

      @@5lelik5 потому, что профундо не зависит от диапазона голоса. Даже опере их было двое- трое Паторжинский и Михайлов, и это не октава .остальные и даже великие басы это средние или высокие , камертон для голоса растет вверх. Нехочу читать лекции, сами прочитайте, старых учителей пения.
