This was from July 23, 1976. The NFL game in question was the infamous College All-Star Game that was rained out (it ended up being the last College All-Star Game due to rising insurance costs and coaches unwilling to have their high draft picks play in the game).
I believe that ABC ran Olympic coverage from 7:30-9 P.M. EDT, then the first half if the College All-Star game from 9 to about 10:15 then this Olympic report. Since the football game was called due to heavy rain (and I think thunder as well), I'm sure that ABC went back to Montreal for more Olympic coverage until 12 Midnight EDT.
Was 8 yrs old. The only thing i remember about these Olympics was is Nadia C...i cant spell her name, Sugar Ray Leonard, and Bruce Jenner. I remember the Wheaties commercial that had Bruce Jenner on the cover.
Everybody lovesa Brim, me too! That concession lady was supposed to be Quebecois, but sounded more Swedish. My mom couldn't wait for the Olympics to be over so that commercial could get off the air. This ad may well have killed the brand.
Dan it is so sad - but there is now a World wide Olympic Channel. It's amazing. Why can't we act like we did in Rio. It wasn't so bad. I think Ryan is so much more grown up and mature as I saw him kissing his wife today on the birth of his Son. Michael and Ryan may have Sons competing against each other. Wouldn't that add to the Olympic Spirit and Olympic Movement. Something about the Olympics brings forth the Holy Spirit within me. I wonder about others in the internet audience.

The 1976 Olympics. These were the games of the US men's swim team, Bruce (later Katlyn) Jenner, Nadia Comenici and the roided up East German women.

It's too bad that the Olympic Stadium was poorly built; it might have been otherwise a proud symbol
for Montreal itself.
