The vault apparatus today has a very cushioned landing pad comparable to a soft matress, to prevent serious injuries because the difficulty has increased by a lot. Back then the landing pad is a thin softer flooring. However, I enjoy watching these vaults even though there are fewer aerial somersaults and twists. I like hearing that slightly muffled 'thump' when they land, especially if they land flawless.
@@yuly8913 if you watch Olga's bar routine from the team competition and compare it to what she did in event finals you'll have an easier time spotting the error. It comes right after she performs the Korbut flip.

Yet that really must have jarred her spine I should think and she recovered immediately and completed her routine as though nothing had happened. Most Gymnasts have several fractures or breaks or damaged vertebrae by the time they retire which was mid twenties at that time.
So it looks like they only took the highest of the two and not the average of the two. I think she would have been out of medals if it had been an average.

モントリオールオリンピックの体操競技ですね!ジムナストの皆様方の演技は大変素晴らしいですね!
How did Nelli and Olga get the same score when Olga didn't have a fall and nelli did 😭😭😭 old scoring makes no sense to me.
olga messed up even if she didn't fall
@@ElizaDolittle wait how did she mess up?
@@yuly8913 after her korbut flip she bent her legs and did an extra swing under the low bar

At 14:40…that looked like it really hurt her tailbone.

How Tourischeva was awarded a silver on vault with those vaults is beyond me. And her FX was garbage also, Most overscored gymnast at those games

Welcome to the world of Soviet judging!
Plus, I think they added the score from the preliminary…so maybe Tourischeva scored really well that day? Or am I wrong?
Tourischeva's vaults were flawless, except for the landings. Her scores were exactly right. And her floor was famously fabulous, as always.
Compulsory Scores and Team Optionals carried over, yes?
Doesnt olga ever get any new moves? smh
She was injured right before Montreal, but before her injury she was planning to add new moves like a double back tuck on floor, etc
@@uraveragesoph
She performed the tucked double back, but poorly, in TO.
