Ocarina of Time 100% New Route Demonstration Run

Thanks to a bunch of new SRM applications found recently, 100% got a huge overhaul with tons of crazy new stuff. This new route is very risky with lots of potential for crashes and softlocks, so I decided to make a demonstration run to show it off before actually attempting runs with this.
This is a macro file being played back on GZ (also known as the practice rom), rather than an actual video being played back. This means I can use GZ features like collision viewer, hitbox viewer, and memory watches to better demonstrate some of the more complicated aspects of the run. The macros and savestates used for this can be downloaded here cdn.discordapp.com/attachment... and you can play it back on GZ yourself (must be on VC as many things in this run would crash N64).

SRM transformed hundo from a speedrun to the origin story of a mute supervillain, in which he gains teleportation, levitation, superspeed, moving through objects, time warp and resurrection powers. Now Link's more powerful than Superman, but just uses it to steal all the valuables in Hyrule.
Just imagine the headlines: "Local boy performs rituals in forest, gains superpowers, ruins everything".

Theres something amazing about the 100% route being as insane as most of the challenge LOTADs we've been looking forwards to every year. Absolutely wonderful job to everyone in the OoT community who has contributed to make this reality. Anything has always been possible for the OoT community, the best community in speedrunning, and this is just proof.

Scott Falco did a Totally Legit OoT any% right before ACE happened, so unfortunately TerminalMontage might stay away from OoT at least for a bit depending on their respective mindsets

Man, the 2 hour Dampe is...ouch. Two hours of over 70 angle-perfect setups, then...Dampe can bury the run with 10 minutes of bad RNG. It sucks there was no way to put him earlier, before all the hard stuff.
It's hella cool to see *the* classic wrong warp be part of the run though.
And, of course, all the simply insane uses of the corrupted FW value and F-boots are amazing.
But honestly who besides ZFG will even be able to complete this insane route? I’m joking, partially.

I feel like Link being tilted is a sign of how Runners are gonna feeling having to go through this awesome but brutal run.
It's crazy that not only is the last dungeon you do Deku, the first dungeon casually, but the last gold skulltula you get is the very first one you'd get casually (if I remember correctly).

F boots are like the embodiment of pure speed run energy.
The game basically becomes a morrowind speedrun with the F boot acting both as a levitation spells and a skooma overdose. That's beautiful.

The rate this guy can memorize a route full of newly discovered, insanely precise tricks is awe inspiring. There aren't many people who can say that they are the best in the world at something but after the last two months of streams I think zfg can. Good luck getting this rta

I wish this could've been my introduction to OoT speedrunning. Imagine not having played or thought about this game for decades, then one day you think about it, get all nostalgic, and wonder what's the fastest anyone has ever managed to beat it while getting every item. And this video is what you find
I think the opposite, im gald i have been following the category for like 2 years and now seing this new route seems pretty sastifactory how much progress the comunity has made, i still find things like RBA and Wrong Warp neat but this is just another new level of craziness
What an amazing run. It took me three days off and on to watch all of this and try to understand it. I can't believe how much this run has evolved.
OoT speed running has changed so much in the last few years. And I've only been following that long. Can't imagine how much of a trip this has been for people in the game longer

@@magmivire It's still insane that this smooth transition can happen when there is no legit way to trigger it. This game is insanely robust for how broken it now is.
I know you’re meming but it’s probably cause the audio engine is separated from the rest of the game and it was never told to change tracks so why should it.

Gosh I would like to see a TAS of this. Every time you do the warp glitch as child, no setup would be required, the TAS would just yolo instantly to the correct angle. Would make for a very entertaining run

first of all, with how optimised the old hundo was, ten minutes is a *long* time.
second of all, there are definitely optimisations to be made with this route, so it will probably save even more than ten minutes

This is just crazy... I would love to see a route breakdown, talking how the order of things was decided and that kind of stuff. Considering how many combinations of angles, exits, etc it seems there will be room for improvement in the routing for quite some time
I wonder how this route will go when performed by a human (if ZFG can be considered that) instead of through a save state TAS like in this video.
The angle setups seem EXTREMELY precise, and I don't get how you can possibly memorize every single angle to get the corresponding value you need without GZ showing you the value on the right side of the screen. On top of that, if you make one mistake during the angle setups then it crashes the whole game?
Making this route consistent is going to be a wild ride, can't wait until the next DLC update for OoT speedrunning

Zfg mentions in the video that someone made a program that spits out a combination of movements to get a specific angle. So it would just take longer to get these angles
I think he is using the setups in the macro; even when he does them quickly, everything is a series of discrete, predictable movements. He might keep notes on the order at hand, but it should be possible...

i like how this is what you would expect teleportation magic to allow you to do, and all the angle set ups and getting invisible values to be just right really does look like magic rituals or procedures or something

you have to do various SRM sessions, like almost a hundred perfect angle set ups and dont forget about Dampe that can simple decide to kill the run after 2 hours of super hard tricks, i think the numbers are way lower than 1 out 20, even with ZFG godly ability i think it will be a long time before we get 1 out of 20 runs finished
