I LOVE LUCA SO MUCH! I also loved watching ciao alberto! I really hope they give Luca a sequel in the future! if they do, I want them to make it about giulia becoming a sea monster! I think that's the perfect plot for a sequel! giulia wants to become a sea monster, so Luca and Alberto help her out. And the entire movie can be about them trying to find a magical Trident that can turn anyone who uses it into a sea monster. and at the end, giulia becomes just like Luca and Alberto, and she can join them in their underwater adventures.
That is an interesting idea, but it really ruins the contrast of Giulia and Alberto, with Giulia being on the land and Alberto being on the water.

Casting Luca as Flounder is actually rather neat and very Disney.
As someone who owns 2 Vespas, they are indeed fun to ride and get compliments

6:37 Luca picks up a tarot card and turns it over to reveal it is the Fool card. The Fool can represent freedom and carelessness, but it can also represent the start of a journey, which hints at Luca eventually leaving the water and exploring the surface with Alberto.

IIRC, there is an little known fact that Alberto's design has a nod to Miyazaki's first directorial work. Future Boy Conan was before Studio Ghibli however can be marked as it's beginnings and strangely this just got an English release. For YEARS other countries, Italy included, has seen this cartoon long before an English licensing. Italy has it's own opening for the show, too. Now the connection is Alberto, his dress and how he acts is close to Conan's. There's just so much in it that are nods to Ghibli.

The sweater having the male adjective and the Vespa having a female adjective form has to do with the nouns in Italian being male and female. "La Vespa" would be the Vespa, and "il maglione" would be the sweater/jumper.

What really makes me angry is that Disney wouldn't give the full story to the decision of not giving this the theatrical release like Raya despite vaccinations and theater reopenings increasing (and I think the decision was made even before the Delta variant was discovered). Some of us think the real reason was simply to pull more people into Disney+. I feel like fear of losing money at the box office had little or nothing to do with it like they saw potential in a theatrical release but chose not to take it.

Enrico was born in the early 70s so I wonder why he (or executives) chose late 50s to early 60s.
Something I would like for any kind of sequel material is that they expand on human-sea monster relations. I mean it in multiple ways. One of those ways is how there’s a likelihood that not all will be as welcoming to the sea monsters and could pose a bigger threat than Mr. Vespa and eat big sandwiches. The other is kind of the same but with sea monsters that still frown upon going up to the surface or humans and besides Luca’s family, Alberto or those two old ladies we don’t see any of the neighbors. Are they as accepting to go to the surface. The other things is how the government could get involved in the whole sea monsters are real thing as well as when it comes to how the sea monster’s own society already is built. Another thing is that they could expand upon Luca’s world as a world secretly filled with magic? They could introduce other creatures and I even play with the idea that Turning Red, Encanto and Luca are all in a shared world as the way magic is integrated into the regular are in a similar level.

Just like in the movie, every time I hear this forced fake accent poured onto the Italian words I just internally cringe. I get that it’s how the words are said in their native language, but it just sounds so in your face and fake! I’m not asking for people to white wash the words and say them as American as possible, but I seriously doubt even real Italian natives emphasize this hard!
