Sony Pictures Animation’s recent lineup does not seem to hold much promise at first glance. You see, after a bunch of sequels, spin-offs and reboots, one can’t help but wonder: are there any studios that are still willing to take risks? Well, good news, because yes. In 2018 Sony Pictures Animation released the critically-acclaimed first part of its Spider-Verse trilogy, but even with all the praise and glory, even that project is based on an existing IP. Luckily, the studio did not forget to tell original stories; enter the Mitchells. As if wanting to prove a point to audiences, three years later Sony released a heartfelt story about a family taking risks on an ultimate cross-country road trip in a quest to save the world. Buckle up, I’m Jeremy with Channel Frederator and here are 107 facts about The Mitchells vs. the Machines.

I still cant believe how much of a dream it is that after around a year or two this channel is finally back. I think we should all be quite thankfull for this.
It's been several months since I have said this but, The Mitchells Vs. The Machines is one of my favorite animated movies, not recently, but of all time. The reason for this isn't the art style, or maybe the humor, but of how I can actually relate to the movie's protagonist in a few ways. See, a few scenes I myself could understand-- one is where the family is having their meals together, and when Rick tries to have them communicate, they are all busy with a screen right in front of them. I myself have tried to be with my family doing stuff together, but admittedly couldn't do much, as most of the time I'm on either my tablet or laptop. This my parents frown upon on occasion, yet they themselves do the exact same thing, but for good reason-- being work. Despite all this, like the Mitchells, we are sometimes split apart by a screen just a few inches away from us. Another is that one camera recording from when Katie was going to summer camp when she was little. The following sequence is when she cries, telling her dad she doesn't want to go. This one scene alone is most personal to me, as once again, I can relate to Katie on a personal level. When I was around 6 or 7, on the first day of school, I myself cried a lot, as I didn't want to go. Different circumstances, yet so similar. One of the first steps to growing up is to learn what it means to being away from your family, which helps you become a responsible adult in the future. It makes me want to sympathize with Katie over her personal ups and downs, seeing where that takes us. And of course, she was born in 2003; that makes her two years older than me in real life, as I was born in 2005. Perhaps our small age difference is why I can understand Katie quite well. All of her recordings were from a Sony camcorder (there's product placement for you) from the early 2000's, which is very similar to the one I have, but now it's broken.
Of course, the movie was undeniably funny, with some parts that had me laughing like crazy. Like when the family ate at the fast food joint, and the food was very much looking stale; obviously, most of them vomited afterwards. Next was when they were going mule riding, and the following scene where they face off a storm. And yes, when Pal ordered one of her robots to give Mark the kick of a lifetime. I couldn't help comparing this movie's plot to the Terminator series, with the Mitchell family being the two Connors, and both Pal and her army being Skynet.
It feels like a no-brainer to let multiple people that worked on Gravity Falls and the directors of multiple fantastic movies make something this phenomenal, yet it still astounds me that no one didn't think of this sooner.
Even though it's only been a year since it's release, I truly think The Mitchells is going to be a true cult classic, just like The Iron Giant or The Secret of Kells.
I love fact #10. Matt Braly being the inspiration for Aaron just let's me know a bit more about one of my favorite creator's personality.
Every character in this movie is so well developed especially the brother robots who learned to bond with the family by following how they act and even playing patty cake together and rock paper scissors- its adorable and they really made this movie complete
The Mitchells vs The Machines is my favorite movie of 2021. I love this film with a passion, and as someone who wants to work in animation and hopefully create my own film, this film is a huge inspiration for me. This is my favorite animated movie of the decade so far, I hope we can see films like this in the future.

The furby scene was originally gonna feature Tickle Me Melmos before Hasbro gave them the rights to use Furbies. Its also a nod to stories about them being creepy, running without batteries, and misconceptions that Furbish is an evil language.

Not long after this movie came out, I made my parents watch it with me. I'm studying animation, but neither of my parents understand like the medium, especially my Dad (they have that Gen X mentality of "animation is for kids/cartoons"). But they both loved this movie, and my Dad was so impressed that animation could tell such a loving story. I think this movie helped my parents understand my passion for animation a bit better 😊
I hope if there's a sequel Jade gets pulled into her girlfriend's family's shenanigans

I adore this movie, and I’m glad they changed the title back, the one sony wanted screamed lazy on the nose, unchallenging blandness. As for the last scene in the movie, I’m not surprised, when you got so much love for a story and it’s characters, you kinda just know what they would be doing after their journey.
Aside from Spiderverse, probably my favorite movie from the past 3 years

Unpopular opinion ig but I don't think it needs a sequel, I think it was a nice film that ended on a high note and could stop there.
But if it did have one, focusing on Aaron's development instead of Katie's could be fun

#23 actually happens in another movie, Ready Player One. The main protagonist actually sleeps on the washer and dryer in his aunt's trailer.
No wonder I liked it so much just given all the people involved in making it

So TLDR; MvM's storyboard is like around 25% gravity falls staff
This movie certainly gave Columbia Pictures a huge boost of positivity, and it's so well done. At least it got MORE awards than "Encanto"* (Mitchell's should've won on Oscar night, but, unfortunately, we all knew what happened THAT night.)
If it were possible, that award should've gone to Encanto, TMvTM and Luca (since all 3 deserved said award in my eyes). Really, the worst thing Encanto-related to happen at the show was how absolutely BUTCHERED "We Don't Talk About Bruno" was.

Loved this movie more than expected
I knew it was going to be good, but I had no idea it would rocket up into my top 3 ever. Such a wonderful film. This will sound weird, but it has the same 'essence' of "You Can't Do That On Television" -- made FOR kids (and adults) by people with awesome senses of humor. And it doesn't feel like it's been run through a focus group and had all the corners buffed out. It's truly great. :)

Fact 23 hits home hard, after coming home from college, my brother took over our room (we shared before I left for college) and I was forced to relocate to the house's laundry room! Fun fact: The tape where Rick bids his dream cabin goodbye is taped on May 8th, 2003, but a baby Katie is shown in the tape, despite her driver's license revealing that she shouldn't have been born until 6 days later, on the 14th of that year. This is most likely an animation error, so I don't think it counts as a legitimate flaw that the movie has.
