Congratulations Troy! No one deserved it more than you. I just watched the movie yesterday and his performance was just incredible in every way, it really moved me. He also seems like such a lovely person! I hope to see more deaf actors and just more diversity in general in future movies, he's gonna be such a big inspiration for so many people to become actors. I'm not deaf but this movie really opened my eyes.
I’m so happy for him, I hope he gets amazing offers and get to play a super hero, I loved CODA he was so funny my favorite scene was when he was describing why he liked gangster music and did the vibrations of his butt cheeks with his hands I just laugh so hard. It was a slice of life and I’m so happy they got best picture, I was watching live and rooting for CODA in the 3 categories they got nominated. Just a beautiful movie.
So deserving of a win! It made me really glad to see him get the recognition he deserves and his Oscar speech had me crying. I’m really excited that he’s getting offers and scripts! It’s about time we see representation of others in the deaf community, especially through a perspective that has been silent for too long.
I love him! He was amazing in CODA. He deserves all the awards. He’s so humble, his speech was so touching and flawless. I hope to see him in a lot more movies.
What a beautiful, well deserving win for Troy and the deaf community. Aside from what everyone else may be saying about the night, I believe his win and the win for CODA taking best picture were the most memorable for me. We all love you Troy. Thank you for having the courage and dedication to achieve what many doubters called impossible.
Charming, handsome, and talented-I hope he gets so much good work. Also, signing is just so elegant and looks like a dance. Glad ASL is getting positive exposure.
I don't know the sign language of any country, but it was a pleasure watching Troy Kotsur sign language. His sign language is clear and powerful, and with his rich expressions, I can feel the expression of his sincere feelings. This is the first time I've seen and felt the beauty of sign language, from Troy Kotsur, the Best Supporting Actor at the 2022 Oscars. Congrations ! Well deserved.
CODA was breathtaking. This movie really touched me in a way no other Film has done before. No fiction, no extras or plot twists, Just straight human emotions. Outstanding!
Isn't it remake of European movie? I swear to God I saw a movie that was like Belgium or French that had the same characters and plot and I cried at both of them.
I found a way to watch CODA in the theatre since we cannot afford for Apple TV subscription. I have to drive 27 miles to the closest movie theatre that they're showing, down to Venice, FL from Sarasota but it's really worth it. This is my best feel good movie ever! I took up Music in college and I remember I taught a choir for competition using a sign language with the song. I started learning the alphabets for sign language when I was young and for me the best way to learn any language like ASL is through song. I was really really touched during the audition scene coz it is so authentic. I knew in my mind that the reaction of Ruby's family watching her doing the sign language was a surprise for the actors coz they didn't tell them about that scene. Congratulations to the cast esp. to Troy for winning most of the awards for Best Support Actor for this movie. I have to have a copy of the movie CODA and watch it again and again.
So happy to see Troy win his Oscar! His performance was absolutely incredible - as was the movie. My best friend growing up was a CODA, and I loved watching her sign with her family. Because of that exposure at such an early age, I fell in love with the beauty of this visual language and Deaf culture and ended up taking seven years of ASL through high school and college. Love seeing the Deaf, HoH, and CODA communities represented in this way.
Many congratulations, Troy! It's quite an exciting achievement to be the first deaf man to win an Oscar. Hopefully, he'll be the first of many, along with Marlee.
As a CODA this movie was so relatable... it amazing just to see Deaf actors and a movie about Deaf people as it is, but I never thought I would see a movie about people like me. 😭 Everyone did a fantastic job and I love it so much. Deserving of all the awards!! CONGRATULATIONS!! 🙌🤟🥲🤟
There’s this real sense of joy he has and I guess with a lot of people who get their first Oscar. no sense of entitlement at all just excitement with the accomplishment!
CONGRATULATIONS, TROY!! 🥰🤟🎉 How about a *HAWKEYE* movie with Troy? Clint Barton had hearing loss and still carried on as Hawkeye with his bow & fancy arrows. There's a comic book that partially in ASL with Clint & his brother talking. Awesome!
Very cool & interesting impacts for the whole world 🌎 nowadays!!!! Proud of you, Troy!!! Keep it up 👍🏼 Deanne Bray… the FB👀, thanks for everything what you’ve helped him succeed!!!! Both of you are CUTE COUPLE!!! 🥰🥰
I love this interview, he is so cool! The only thing I disagree with in this video is that when he speaks it says “interpreter.”The interpreter is not saying all the things, Troy Kotsur is! The interpreter is just interpreting! But he is so cool and I love hearing what he has to say! Everyone watch coda!
Troy winning was the highlight of the Oscars for me. Even though I’ve never seen CODA, I want to now. At my school, I’m actually doing a project (it takes 2 years, it’s a Capstone project on why people should learn ASL) and taking an ASL class at my school (I have a deaf uncle and ASL needs more positive) exposure. That’s why I was so happy when I saw a deaf actor won an Oscar! 🙌🏽 (That’s supposed to be the clapping sign in ASL, I looked it up and that emoji apparently expresses joy so I don’t regret using it, Apple and other companies should really make more ASL emojis!)
CODA is the most deserving Best Picture winner since No Country for Old Men. Which coincidentally won the same awards except for Best Director which they weren’t nominated for.
Congrats Troy Kotsur!!🎉👍. For 35 long years I have been looking forward of seeing more Deaf actors/actresses, directors, editors, etc. Now finally after a long struggles and frustrations you made it through, Troy and Deanna Bray, I love watching your shows! I'm still in shock that you won! And President Joe Biden watched CODA 2 times? I'm impressed too. You go Troy!
It was so wonderful to see Troy win Best Actor. Truly deserved. I’m hard of hearing and use sign. However, since I can speak and use hearing aids, my wife and children don’t know sign - it just wasn’t as necessary for them unless I was deaf. I don’t get to use sign too often but when I do, it seems so natural. Watching CODA or Sound of Metal made me feel pretty proud of the deaf community. Another film from, if I remember correctly, 1968, is The Heart is a Lonely Hunter. Sad but well done starring Alan Atkin.
There has been already a deaf villain in Hawkeye, so it could really happen for Troy if he wants to join the MCU. I hope he gets lots of jobs in other movies too.
Troy seems so lovely and funny. The drs appointment scene always makes me laugh! I have a very basic understanding of BSL and you don’t even need that to understand what a hilariously embarrassing dad his character is.
I was lucky enough to attend the Governor's Ball this past Sunday and after the travesty of the slap seen and heard around the world, I was a bit overwhelmed by how much the entire experience of the Ball has changed since I was a part of this catering company just a few years ago. The food and service (all the staff had to wear masks poor things) were better than it has been in years: I drank some amazing rose champagne, my food favorites included the spicy tuna cones, waffles with fried chicken, lobster pie, beef sliders, cornbread with crab and caviar, and the mac and cheese which has been thankfully updated. I didn't get a chance to try any of the Turkish selections. I tried one dessert which was a choc sea salt eclair topped with a gold and chocolate oscar. Upon my exit, I, of course, took home one of the famous choc Oscars. Many celebrities left even quicker than in past years, perhaps due to the Will Smith incident (that's almost all anyone talked about). I enjoyed watching Kodi Smit-Mcphee proudly carrying a beautiful rose. Most importantly I was able to confirm from a few of the WPC butlers that almost all the mountains of left-over food were in fact donated to organizations whose mission is to feed multitudes of hungry individuals so ubiquitous in Los Angeles. This is a welcomed change from decades of having to watch the majority of this unspoiled food simply fed to the dumpsters. Nice job!
my wife knew troy as classmates and troy hurt her very badly by treat her a piece of nothing ... and when i was living in oregon and my friend rebecca who was a deaf aspiring actress who performed acting in portland deaf theatre ... first audition was in portland when marlee was in town for filming the movie and she got rejected that was in 1988 , then got second audition for marlee's second film in portland again... but got rejected and she was angry at Marlee for not let her acting in her movie set .. then she went back home and wrote a note to say goodbye to me and deaf people that she knew... then she went up to the roof of the building then jumped off to her death because of marlee did to her... is that dedicated to deaf community? i dont think so...
Congratulations Troy! No one deserved it more than you. I just watched the movie yesterday and his performance was just incredible in every way, it really moved me. So proud of him!! His speech was beautiful. He seems like really good guy.
Beautiful. I enjoy to watching beautifully smooth signing language. Congratulations Troy!
So deserving of a win! It made me really glad to see him get the recognition he deserves and his Oscar speech had me crying.
I’m really excited that he’s getting offers and scripts! It’s about time we see representation of others in the deaf community, especially through a perspective that has been silent for too long.
Congratulations to Troy Kotsur! Such great news and here’s to seeing him more often and Youn Yuh-jung was so adorable presenting him the Award.
I love him! He was amazing in CODA. He deserves all the awards. He’s so humble, his speech was so touching and flawless. I hope to see him in a lot more movies.

Thank you for sharing your humanity and creativity
Congratulations Troy on your well deserved award!! I am happy for you and your family. You are an inspiration.
CODA and Troy winning is the real highlight of the 2022 Oscar, congratulations!
Truly so happy for him. His Oscar win made me cry . I hope he has the long career he has worked hard for.
🥰
What an amazing story!
Love him 🧡
Just an interesting, beautiful man. Congrats on this amazing win for such an amazing movie!

Being from Gloucester where the movie was set Troy not only played a great fisherman but he also signed with a Gloucester accent!
Great interview Troy.
Many congratulations, Troy! It's quite an exciting achievement to be the first deaf man to win an Oscar. Hopefully, he'll be the first of many, along with Marlee.

He’s so funny and such a savage OMG HE’S TOO CUTE ❤
P.S. Petition to see him as James Bond and work with Steven Spielberg.
Troy Kotsur is a phenomenal actor! So happy to see he is getting recognition. He's a genius!
So happy for his win. He is so lovable ❤️❤️❤️
Love him instantly! Now that is in actor in every sense of the words we speak. His is more sublime and true. I WANNA WORK WITH TROY!!!
He's really funny.
CODA is the most deserving Best Picture winner since No Country for Old Men.

I loved the original French movie "la famille Bélier" from witch Coda is an adaptation. Great story !

Hawkeye character is not even deaf. Sit down.
Alaqua Cox is deaf and her character Echo is deaf too.
he is so funny... very cool guy
🤟🏻 loved this movie

Loved the film. What a beautiful film

he's an amazing actor!!
He proved in CODA that he can be funny 😆 would love ❤️ to see him in a romantic comedy now!🙏😘🎥📺
Im just happy for him, so well-deserved recognition.
How did he receive phone calls? I'm guessing the interpreter will and signs for him
🤟🏽❤
🤟😍😊
🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸
I wonder what majority of deaf peoples day to day life would be like without an interpreter
I loved this film and all it's performances but Joe Biden saw it twice because he forgot he watched it the first time
Biden saw the movie 2 times? I thought there was a war and Brovid going on?
Right. Coz he isn't running the show.
I did not like this interpreters voice at all.
That’s crazy will and his bald wife took the spotlight away from him
my wife knew troy as classmates and troy hurt her very badly by treat her a piece of nothing ... and when i was living in oregon and my friend rebecca who was a deaf aspiring actress who performed acting in portland deaf theatre ... first audition was in portland when marlee was in town for filming the movie and she got rejected that was in 1988 , then got second audition for marlee's second film in portland again... but got rejected and she was angry at Marlee for not let her acting in her movie set .. then she went back home and wrote a note to say goodbye to me and deaf people that she knew... then she went up to the roof of the building then jumped off to her death because of marlee did to her... is that dedicated to deaf community? i dont think so...
DUNE should've won best picture. CODA was a terrible boring movie.
well it didn’t 😁
