I made this walk 25 years or so ago - but the other direction ! I think I can remember Rainbows End Cafe and two coaches at the Clay Cross Works sports ground about 45 years ago. Also known as the Peggy Line the locos were named after the children of the family and I saw the nameplate for Guy at the Tall Y Lynn narrow gauge railway museum in Wales. Thanks for the memories. I am looking forward to the part walking on Spoilbanks and Clay Lane as this holds some special family memories.

Thanks Jeff. Interesting about the Talyllyn railway. I am up there in a few weeks, I will keep an eye out for that.

    Hello again Paul,
I'm just catching up on TH-cam videos after a long weekend away and thought I'd start with yours first 😊
Anyway I just wanted to say thanks for putting out yet another interesting series which I'll be looking forward to watching up until the end.
That was a nice fine, the bit of track work still left there even in the modern day along with the old station building (shed) at Hallgate.
On the subject of the Rainbow's End Cafe building, not sure about it, but I've been told it's in storage at the site of Peak Rail and is owned by the the Ashover Light Railway trust, who apparently are going to re-build it sometime as they are building a new Narrow Gauge railway on the Peak Rail site at Rowsley, so that'll be interesting if it goes ahead.
And a little bit more information, unless you already know this, but if you ever visit the Midland Railway Centre again and go to Swanick junction narrow gauge railway, there is a re-build of one of the Ashover Light Railway carriages and people are allowed to travel on it when it is out in service, I've been on it myself and it's very nice and built in the way it used to be apparently.
Anyway Paul, as usual keep up the good work mate, your videos are so interesting and full of history and knowledge.
    All the best from.
    Mike Wood. 🚂

Cheers Mike, good to hear from you.
Hopefully I will get up to see the carriage at some point in the summer.
There are some at the Lincolnshire Light Railway in Skegness too, I understand.

Brilliant video, looking forward to the upcoming parts. I'm local to the Clay Cross area and involved with the Ashover Light Railway Society so know a bit about the ALR, so found your video very interesting. Also very accurate, which is not always the case for TH-cam videos, so great work!

This is a wonderful video, thank you so much. I look forward to parts 2 & 3. My son recently said he would like to build a 009 gauge model railway, so I started looking into local narrow gauge and found out about ALR. I've been doing some research into ALR using maps and online content, and have just ordered a book about it too. My son and I were looking to go to the western part of ALR in the summer to look for evidence, so your video has come at a perfect time! We will definitely be visiting. You should produce a walking guide for people to use. I know we'd definitely buy one! Thanks again for this video, enjoyed every minute 💜

Thanks very much Amy. Glad you're enjoying the videos. All the best with the model railway. A great railway to model it on, in a beautiful part of the world.

Excellent video Paul, the line I thought was this went off to the east of the Midland line I had no idea this went to the west and over clay Cross tunnel
I believe the line I thought it was was a colliery branch, not sure if there was a tunnel on it

    • @WobblyRunner
      @WobblyRunner  8 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

Ahhhh. There is a line off to the east not far away though to a few collieries. It could be that you're thinking of?

Hi Paul, another interesting video. I've got 009 guage models of the Ashover locos, coaches, and wagons. I'm going to build a 009 layout for them to run on. Now it's not going to be a model of the Ashover Light Railway, but it will have a Derbyshire feel to it. My grandson will have his 009 layout built first, so I might get to run them on there, so they'll probably appear on one of his videos. Speaking of which, did you catch the Dukes of Hazzard stop-motion animation video he did on his layout. It took him around ten hours to create. We're looking forward to the next instalment... Cheers James 🙂👍
