You can’t help but admire Koenigsegg for continually pushing the industry to the edge of whats possible. Those Dark Matter engines are so far ahead of anything in the car industry, and that’s just a piece of this car.
I first read about Christian Von Koenigsegg and the CCX when I was 19 in the November 2001 issue of Car and Driver. Never thought I'd be watching a video of him 22 years later showing off a 2300hp hybrid 4 seater. Massively impressed by his long term success and passion for developing his cars.

Am I only one who finds these hyper cars boring and super ugly? The engineering behind those is cool and it must be extremely fun toy if you can afford it but imho they are just ”meh”. If you have seen one, you have seen them all.

@@kopmis you have no clue about what are you talking about! i work as a mechatronics engineer for one of the most prestigious car manufacturer iin uk. first, it cost us about 2 million to just design test, and build an instrument cluster! these types of manufacturers like this one is more like tuners lol them engine is from Ford and most of the parts are not theirs! If Bugatti which sells more and at similar prices ...they lose money on each car as it doesn't cover the cost of build! for crash test they had the same car crash and rebuilt again to be carshed for different safety tests ...which is a bit questionable as when we build a prototype we crash about 5 to 8 cars to make sure that we covered every bit ! we bring cars from different manufacturers and we take them apart to see how other do things .. like Rolls Roys, Bentley, aston, Lamborghini,i Ferrari, lucid, tesla, Bugatti etc but never a Koenigsegg cuz we don't believe they have anything worth looking into.

One of a kind and a new breed as he says. Truly amazing for 2024 to come up with such a unique supercar (that is truly a daily family car too!) wow.

The pride, the time, the trials...I don't know enough about automotive engineering to call myself even the base level of a "car guy". I just know what lights my eyes up...Koenigsegg's journey and ingenuity do this every time.

We don't have mass shifting tech yet, but the Gemera has to be the closest thing to that idea ever seen in real life. Coming out of the trunk really puts into focus how much room there is back there and to think is also room for 4 adults and all the mechanics wrapped into this amazing shape is mind blowing. This car is an engineering marvel, and it is beautiful to look at. Well done, Koenigsegg. Well done.

At this point, industry leading is an understatement. Koenigsegg's track record (pun intended) means there's really no reason to doubt what's on paper is truly deliverable. Just amazing stuff.

the only problem u can ran at is the ground clearance with some of the poorer countries, but at the same time u can eliminate that issue with just taking other roads, so yeah kinda agree

When I saw the Agera in the NFS movie in 2014, I fell in love at first sight. I had never heard of Koenigsegg before that, so it was completely new to me, and it’s what really got me into the car scene. I was a little worried at first that they would just become another supercar brand, making 20 different models with no significant difference, but seeing each new car be on a whole different level than the last is insane. Every other brand just puts out the same car with different styling cues because its too risky to try anything else, but Koenigsegg goes balls to the wall with everything. “If we restructure the rear, and redesign the whole engine and transmission, we could fit a v8 in here” is something that other company’s would just turn into a whole new car, but something you’d never hear from any other supercar company is “If we redesign these parts, we could gain a few more millimeters of clearance for luggage space.” An absolute madman, innovating on anything and everything. Never change

Just insane. I always love the interviews with CVK and James and Koenigsegg shares so much detail I feel like some of these videos aren’t long enough. I’ve seen the Jesko Absolute, Jesko Attack and the Gemera when they were first going around as press cars and you will never ever get over seeing a Koenigsegg. Those cars draw so much attention and you can feel everyone’s enthusiasm around those cars. I fucking love it.
Koenigsegg next year: "so we made a super sport version of the Gemera, now it has a 2200HP V8 for a total of 3000HP, made it 100 kilos lighter, it can now fit 6 carry-on bags and a new entertainment system for each passenger"

This would be definetly the only supercar exotic I would buy if I had the money. Mad respect to Christian and his group of engineers who are innovative, creative and extremely talented that can produce cutting edge technology in a vehicle.
I already felt that way with the 2020 announced version with Direct Drive. I still LOVE the idea of that, but have to concede that the new way of doing it with a single and very light e-motor, 9spd gearbox and now V8 option is just the way to go. I still want a car with the old Gemera layout, but it might be a simpler car, tuned down a bit. Crank down top speed (a lot) and a light 4-seater that's more like an M3 Touring (drivetrain full swapped front to back) or Cayman.
Now with the lower weight, larger tank (THANKS for understanding travel and car ownership comfort) and V8 option (go super loud or go crazy economy with the 3-inline?)...it's only gotten more desirable. 4 suitcase now all in the back, no need to open the front hood. Will one fit there still for the 3-cyl version? Maybe there's a bit less EV range? But worth it to get all the other goodies. With this quick 9spd it will pull so fast... It would be perfect if it could also get the CC850's 6-speed manual addition.

He will not only describe the specs, but he will go over every button/feature of the car and explain what it does. He will sit in the front and back seats as well as rate the seating practicality. And to top it all off he will actually take the car for a spin. After you watch his videos you will feel like you actually have owned the car yourself.

Even today, after some 3(?) years later I still think it's one of the purest reviews ever and nothing has same feel to it. Same here! Since i saw it the first time...i was blown away! The 3 cylinder engine was already insane but now with the v8 in it... it's for sure the craziest Hyper-car to date! Rimac is nice too but seeing a hyper with 4 seats looking like a coupe is other worldly! I will take a fully exposed carbon violett one or a smaragd green one!😂
Amazing car but im most interested in his new "dark matter" electric motors. The size and output compared to say a tesla drive unit from a Plaid.... Pretty insane. If he can (or has) designed a cost effective way to mass produce those, the EV market / World will be turned on its head. 800hp, in that size, with the ability to put them pretty much AT each drive wheel, is absolutely immense game changing tech.

Yeah, I can’t think of any product he’s claimed he was goin to make & not done it. If, for some reason, that were to happen, I’m sure he’d be open & honest as to why it happened & he’d be apologetic & go out if his way to make things right for the customer. The Ferrari FF/GTC4Lusso is probably the closest thing in terms of a 4-seat supercar with some practicality, the main difference being engine placement. Although not exactly the same philosophy where maybe the Ferrari is a GT and this is a Supercar.
I could listen to Christian talk cars all day. He is so passionate and knowledgeable about all their developments and it really shows. Really can't think of another CEO that even comes close to him.
He is one of the great creators in the automobile industry now. Himself continuously proved that invention is not quiet in engineering, practicality science integrated the procedures extendable in boutique cars.

If the CEO is actually excited about the company and what they do you will see them at every turn instead of some representative or a engineer that know's most of what he can or can't say or let us know. I enjoy Christian and his enthusiasm. He truly loves what he does.

Gotta love this can-do approach: instead of changing the project specs to accomodate for what was possible, Koenigsegg changed what was possible to accomodate for the new project's spec. Also, Christian is such a nice dude.
Even if you remove the two extra seats, it's STILL the most innovative performance car out there. Even the previous incarnation with the Direct Drive, rear engine for FWD and a 3 e-motors to top it off, that would still be the top innovative car today if they'd not scrapped it for the 1 e-motor version with 9spd standard and V8 option and larger tank. Such relentless absolute best effort engineering and design.

@@RobertkajmanRimac Nevera is an amazing car but it’s an electric only car and Mate is quite literally an understudy of CvK. Bugatti is just an effort in putting a massive engine as many turbos and 68 radiators as possible into a Luxory Volkswagen. Porsche are great but also so overrated. What’s a boxer engine compared to this? The complexity, novelty, and elegance of the engineering in this car can easily outclass any of those three.
@@adamsteinhardt6393 Boxer engine is a masterpiece and is much better than this in EGG. Bugatti putting W16 weights around 2 tons and still accelerating blisteringly quick and is also a comfortable and luxurious GT. It is a huge achivement.

@@mouzVID true lol. I just meant in terms of certification for WORLDWIDE crashworthiness and human-safe usability. The standards required for car homologation are WAY more stringent than people realize. Engineering a giant compartment behind the engine while still keeping the crash structures intact is an even bigger achievement than the original dihedral helix door hinge was, and that particular feature defines Koenigseggs to this day.
My guess the only thing that could top this vehicle in performance and functionality would have to be a Koenigsegg SUV or Truck able to tow and off road!
Wow, what I can say? This car is a miracle of design and engineering at the highest level I ever seen, and I am from Italy so I live ,feel and smell super cars on the streets every day, but nothing could be compared to this miracle.

And Gordan Murray. McLaren f1 and now the 2000lb v12 t.50. Nothing is even close to the lightness he achieved. A whole different ballpark. And turbo fan downforce. It's probably the most fun car. Koenigsegg is probably the most advanced car. Bugatti arguably the most luxurious but not advanced just overpower everything, car. Fortunately I don't have enough money to even try to think about which I would want. Too bad Yamaha pulled out of Gordon Murray's proposed 50k dollar car. Or we could actually have a car one could afford. I love them all. They are all epic by genius designers with different visions. Gemera.. there is no 4 seat competition for it. I love how passionate Christian is about the science behind the car. It's such an amazing vehicle. I wouldn't be surprised if Koenigsegg eventually creates the first personal space ships.
I always love these deep dives with Christian and seeing his excitement. But I've always wondered if this is the level of stuff they can do with the civilian versions of the cars. I can only imagine what they could do in something like F1 or a GT series how far could they push those while staying within the rules there's never been a car brand quite like Koenigsegg the engineering and philosophy is just totally different from everything else
The regulations in F1 and GT racing are extremely restricted. The best aero and race car engineers are already working in F1, like James Allison and Adrian Newey. Engineers who want to make something more unique would be more interested in production road cars like this. There isn’t a lot more that can be done with current racing regulations, they are made to be restrictive. Road cars are far less restrictive in regulations, but they obviously have to pass crash and safety tests. Koenigsegg has shown they are the most innovative in the field of road cars so I hope they continue. Racing is only going to restrict what they can do.

@@beanapprentice1687 I hope some customers keep their choice and stick with the TFG because I am really curious about it's potential. Or at least like the Jesko, they can make and keep a pre-production version with TFG for reviewers, so that we can see how it's perform compared to the HV8 version. And I hope some day Koenigsegg will come up with a track special model that use their NA V8/TFG that focus on lightweight rather than hitting big numbers.
The Koenigsegg Gemera engine position is strikingly similar to the Porsche 918 Spyder. Personally I prefer the Koenigsegg CC850 headlights and tailights. They are stunning.

I first read about Christian Von Koenigsegg and the CCX when I was 19 in the November 2001 issue of Car and Driver. Never thought I'd be watching a video of him 22 years later showing off a 2300hp hybrid 4 seater. Massively impressed by his long term success and passion for developing his cars.

Am I only one who finds these hyper cars boring and super ugly? The engineering behind those is cool and it must be extremely fun toy if you can afford it but imho they are just ”meh”. If you have seen one, you have seen them all.

If Bugatti which sells more and at similar prices ...they lose money on each car as it doesn't cover the cost of build! for crash test they had the same car crash and rebuilt again to be carshed for different safety tests ...which is a bit questionable as when we build a prototype we crash about 5 to 8 cars to make sure that we covered every bit ! we bring cars from different manufacturers and we take them apart to see how other do things .. like Rolls Roys, Bentley, aston, Lamborghini,i Ferrari, lucid, tesla, Bugatti etc but never a Koenigsegg cuz we don't believe they have anything worth looking into.

We don't have mass shifting tech yet, but the Gemera has to be the closest thing to that idea ever seen in real life. Coming out of the trunk really puts into focus how much room there is back there and to think is also room for 4 adults and all the mechanics wrapped into this amazing shape is mind blowing. This car is an engineering marvel, and it is beautiful to look at. Well done, Koenigsegg. Well done.

When I saw the Agera in the NFS movie in 2014, I fell in love at first sight. I had never heard of Koenigsegg before that, so it was completely new to me, and it’s what really got me into the car scene. I was a little worried at first that they would just become another supercar brand, making 20 different models with no significant difference, but seeing each new car be on a whole different level than the last is insane. Every other brand just puts out the same car with different styling cues because its too risky to try anything else, but Koenigsegg goes balls to the wall with everything. “If we restructure the rear, and redesign the whole engine and transmission, we could fit a v8 in here” is something that other company’s would just turn into a whole new car, but something you’d never hear from any other supercar company is “If we redesign these parts, we could gain a few more millimeters of clearance for luggage space.” An absolute madman, innovating on anything and everything. Never change

Just insane. I always love the interviews with CVK and James and Koenigsegg shares so much detail I feel like some of these videos aren’t long enough. I’ve seen the Jesko Absolute, Jesko Attack and the Gemera when they were first going around as press cars and you will never ever get over seeing a Koenigsegg. Those cars draw so much attention and you can feel everyone’s enthusiasm around those cars. I fucking love it.

This would be definetly the only supercar exotic I would buy if I had the money. Mad respect to Christian and his group of engineers who are innovative, creative and extremely talented that can produce cutting edge technology in a vehicle.
lol this is not a mere supercar exotic, this is a megahypercar.
I already felt that way with the 2020 announced version with Direct Drive. I still LOVE the idea of that, but have to concede that the new way of doing it with a single and very light e-motor, 9spd gearbox and now V8 option is just the way to go. I still want a car with the old Gemera layout, but it might be a simpler car, tuned down a bit. Crank down top speed (a lot) and a light 4-seater that's more like an M3 Touring (drivetrain full swapped front to back) or Cayman.
Now with the lower weight, larger tank (THANKS for understanding travel and car ownership comfort) and V8 option (go super loud or go crazy economy with the 3-inline?)...it's only gotten more desirable.
4 suitcase now all in the back, no need to open the front hood. Will one fit there still for the 3-cyl version?
Maybe there's a bit less EV range? But worth it to get all the other goodies. With this quick 9spd it will pull so fast... It would be perfect if it could also get the CC850's 6-speed manual addition.

He will not only describe the specs, but he will go over every button/feature of the car and explain what it does. He will sit in the front and back seats as well as rate the seating practicality. Amazing car but im most interested in his new "dark matter" electric motors. The size and output compared to say a tesla drive unit from a Plaid.... Pretty insane. If he can (or has) designed a cost effective way to mass produce those, the EV market / World will be turned on its head. 800hp, in that size, with the ability to put them pretty much AT each drive wheel, is absolutely immense game changing tech.

The Ferrari FF/GTC4Lusso is probably the closest thing in terms of a 4-seat supercar with some practicality, the main difference being engine placement. Although not exactly the same philosophy where maybe the Ferrari is a GT and this is a Supercar.

I cannot think of any road vehicle more advanced than this. I may never even get to see a Gemera, but no doubt it is projects like this that push the entire industry forward
Gotta love this can-do approach: instead of changing the project specs to accomodate for what was possible, Koenigsegg changed what was possible to accomodate for the new project's spec. Also, Christian is such a nice dude.

Even if you remove the two extra seats, it's STILL the most innovative performance car out there. Even the previous incarnation with the Direct Drive, rear engine for FWD and a 3 e-motors to top it off, that would still be the top innovative car today if they'd not scrapped it for the 1 e-motor version with 9spd standard and V8 option and larger tank. Such relentless absolute best effort engineering and design.

@@RobertkajmanRimac Nevera is an amazing car but it’s an electric only car and Mate is quite literally an understudy of CvK. Bugatti is just an effort in putting a massive engine as many turbos and 68 radiators as possible into a Luxory Volkswagen. Porsche are great but also so overrated. What’s a boxer engine compared to this?
The complexity, novelty, and elegance of the engineering in this car can easily outclass any of those three.
@@adamsteinhardt6393 Boxer engine is a masterpiece and is much better than this in EGG. Bugatti putting W16 weights around 2 tons and still accelerating blisteringly quick and is also a comfortable and luxurious GT. It is a huge achivement.

Edit: second most underrated part: THREE seats with Isofix! Jesus. The engineering work to get that certification done is IMMENSE.

@@mouzVID true lol. I just meant in terms of certification for WORLDWIDE crashworthiness and human-safe usability. The standards required for car homologation are WAY more stringent than people realize. Engineering a giant compartment behind the engine while still keeping the crash structures intact is an even bigger achievement than the original dihedral helix door hinge was, and that particular feature defines Koenigseggs to this day.
My guess the only thing that could top this vehicle in performance and functionality would have to be a Koenigsegg SUV or Truck able to tow and off road!

This car is a miracle of design and engineering at the highest level I ever seen, and I am from Italy so I live ,feel and smell super cars on the streets every day, but nothing could be compared to this miracle.
this is the pinacle, cars can't get much better than this. It's absolutely stunning. it ticks every box. I loved the ferrari FF and the GTC4 lusso but this, this is on another level
i like how casual Christian is, dude seems chill af. i was already sold on koenigsegg before but the head behind it all is also neatly a good human. within the next like 15 yrs or so i will be placing my order. most definitely. can't wait what else they come up with down the line.
I have to say that personally I think that Christian Von Koenigsegg and Mate Rimac are the 2 best car minds in the business world right now and are constantly looking ahead and trying to come up BIG THING in the automotive world and I know that the automotive industry is safe while they are at the realm ! And let me tell you a little secret how they can be and is so good as they are.. Its all about sharing... Yeah when you find out something you share it with friends etx.. Thaats how inventions is made, 2 brains are better than 1.. Most people dont like to share.. They want all for themselves.. Yeah, you might come up with a good idea or produkt.. But if you dont talk with others and share your thoughts.. You will not come up with upgrades as often etc....
And Gordan Murray. McLaren f1 and now the 2000lb v12 t.50. Nothing is even close to the lightness he achieved. A whole different ballpark. And turbo fan downforce. It's probably the most fun car. Koenigsegg is probably the most advanced car. Bugatti arguably the most luxurious but not advanced just overpower everything, car. Fortunately I don't have enough money to even try to think about which I would want. Too bad Yamaha pulled out of Gordon Murray's proposed 50k dollar car. Or we could actually have a car one could afford. I love them all. They are all epic by genius designers with different visions. Gemera.. there is no 4 seat competition for it. And there may never even be. Well done.

I always love these deep dives with Christian and seeing his excitement. But I've always wondered if this is the level of stuff they can do with the civilian versions of the cars. I can only imagine what they could do in something like F1 or a GT series how far could they push those while staying within the rules there's never been a car brand quite like Koenigsegg the engineering and philosophy is just totally different from everything else
The regulations in F1 and GT racing are extremely restricted. The best aero and race car engineers are already working in F1, like James Allison and Adrian Newey. Engineers who want to make something more unique would be more interested in production road cars like this. There isn’t a lot more that can be done with current racing regulations, they are made to be restrictive. Road cars are far less restrictive in regulations, but they obviously have to pass crash and safety tests. Koenigsegg has shown they are the most innovative in the field of road cars so I hope they continue. Racing is only going to restrict what they can do.
What a pair of comments. F1 would restrict the capability of Koenigsegg. Believe me it wouldn’t. In their first few years they would finish dead last, there is a reason The Best automotive engineers/designers on the planet work in F1
Dude I LOVE this guy! I mean here we have a guy that innovates in every aspect of a automobile every time he releases a car and brakes new ground. And there are huge multibillion companies out there that can't even release one exciting car for decades. i.e. Mazda with the RX9. Unbelievable!

I am really little bit envious knowing millions of us will not get the opportunity to achieve this level of success in the world of monopolies. @@beanapprentice1687 I hope some customers keep their choice and stick with the TFG because I am really curious about it's potential. Or at least like the Jesko, they can make and keep a pre-production version with TFG for reviewers, so that we can see how it's perform compared to the HV8 version. And I hope some day Koenigsegg will come up with a track special model that use their NA V8/TFG that focus on lightweight rather than hitting big numbers.

The Koenigsegg Gemera engine position is strikingly similar to the Porsche 918 Spyder. Personally I prefer the Koenigsegg CC850 headlights and tailights. They are stunning.
