    Here's is something very important I want you to know.
    Our culture (modernized culture, mostly Western culture) trains us to be disconnected from our bodies. Our culture trains us to view our bodies as external objects as an outside observer. Our culture trains to look to outside experts to fix us, fix our body issues but doesn't train us to connect with our own body, own sensory experience, "listen" to our body, feel our body, and learn from our inner intelligence.
    This is cultural influence on our beliefs influences our behaviors. Many people believe that they need more information in order to overcome their limitations and challenges. Many believe that they just haven't found the "right" information yet so keep seeking outside for their answer. Reality is that we have too much information, and we are so disconnected from our own body and experience.
    It's easy to view my videos as another exercise video, and approach it from that mindset, that is to approach your body like fixing mechanical parts that lie external to you. Then, you are really missing the point. This is not a conventional way of thinking in Western culture, so it's easy to let my message pass through you. But, don't worry! I am persistent and will repeat over and over and over:) I'm not here to teach you exercises to correct your body structures. I am here to help you connect with YOUR BODY, YOUR SENSORY EXPERIENCE, learn from YOUR BODY, and create a new way of movng, using yourself, being in your body!
    This paradigm shift is necessary for transformation, changes in your nervous system, movement patterns, quality of life because your body and mind are one! I really encourage you to keep this message in your mind as you watch my videos and practice movement!

    It's so easy to write off the simple things as ineffective but this, THIS right here was so stupidly easy it's near impossible to believe in it's effectiveness but folks, watch the WHOLE video and PAY VERY CLOSE ATTENTION to everything he says. This video is a gem!! Thank you Taro Iwamoto!!

      Thank you so much for your comment! For movement practice to be effective, movement/exercise does not have to be complicated. In fact, most of time movement/exercise can be quite simple. More importantly we need to learn how to pay attention to our own body and movement patterns. Attention and mindfulness are more important to improve our functions.

    • @TaroIwamoto
      @TaroIwamoto  ปีที่แล้ว

      You're welcome! Just for clarification, the purpose of this exercise is to help people become aware of their habitual posture and movement patterns that are associated with more strain and effort in the area and to retrain their movement patterns in order to reduce streain and effort during day to day activities. It's really about developing more body awareness and movement control. The movement pattern that increases strain, discomfort in neck and shoulder during this exercise is very likely what you habitually do during daily activities so you want to recognize such pattern and retrain out of that pattern.

    Yes! For a long time I’ve had very tight hips and shoulders/neck, and felt it was related but physiotherapists only ever give me stretching exercises for each, separately. But it’s because of long days sat the computer, where the pelvis/hips are rotated backwards, which as you naturally then rounds the shoulders, causing chronic holding tension. Now I’m much more aware of that full pattern. Life-changing, thank you.

    Yesterday ,I did other exercises, from your posture video. I also watched your sleeping position video and last night I noticed, I was doing the rounded posture in my sleep too. I corrected my sleep position last night. Today I noticed that when I am sitting or standing my posture looks better, even my son said to me, “mum you are sitting straight today.” I hope I will be able to correct the small hump on my neck.

    My neck is so tight especially on the left, that even when I do my right shoulder, where I feel the most tension is on the left side of my neck (and some tension along my windpipe). So it seems like I tense all of my neck muscles at once. At the point where I should feel relaxation of the neck muscle, I feel a strong pull on that tight muscle as it seems to resist relaxation. But I do feel some relief and will keep at it. This has been a problem for years, and I so appreciate your help.

    I've read the other comments on the instant relief after doing these exercises. I had the same results, 70% less stress in my neck and shoulders after watching (and doing) this video after years of trying other methods. Also the video on squats. 👍

    My shoulder pain probably due to shoulder tension kept me from doing some jobs. Thanks a heap.

    I've had scoliosis all my life and I did your exercises from your three scoliosis videos and found my neck stiffening up, so of course I had to continue on with this one and it has worked wonders. Scoliosis ones definitely made a difference in my height of my left shoulder versus my right. I've been doing the morning stretch also and having a lot lot less low back and leg pain. Your videos are real God send to me. Thank you so much

      @@TaroIwamoto 太郎さんはアメリカで活躍されているのですね。私はオーストラリアで25年住んでいます。ここの大学院でダンスセラピーを学ぶときFELDENKRAISEも少し習いました。やったあと体がすっきりしますね。TAROさんのチャネルを知って嬉しいです。ところでこのエクササイズは例として10回3セットといわれましたが肘を上げることをしたあと下げることをセットでしてその差を体が感じていくというのか、肘をさげる部分だけをするのですか?ヴィデオでそのところが明解でなかったので、お教えくださればありがたいです。これからの活躍も応援しています。😄

      @@yumischaefer2421 そうなんですよ。アメリカには26年ちょっとになります。このエクササイズの目的はPelvis-Spine-Shoulderの連動と関連性を感じてもらうこととPelvisの位置がどのように肩と首に影響しているのか、くせの動きのパターン、そして肩と首への負担を軽減する動きのパターンを脳に学んでもらってその新しい動きのパターンを日常生活の動きにとりいれていくことです。これによって首や肩を改善するのが目的なので一番の”Homework”は新しい動きを日常生活の動きにとりいれていくことですね。回数よりもそっちが重要ですが回数をよく質問されるのでだいたいの回数を勧めています。こんな説明で分かりましたでしょうか?

    I'm a classical musician, and this is incredible useful information!! I have done a lot of different stretches and similar, some good, but they're not always useful because they work well if you have some momentarily really painful tight areas, but when you're not really feeling much tension, but still need to go a little bit further to become really soft, stretches doesn't do it anymore. My goal is to not feel the need for much stretching, and this seems way more optimal. Really looking forward to seeing more of your videos

    I found your channel this morning and watched three and followed your instructions. I woke up with painful tightness in my neck and shoulders fro sleeping (must have really tightened up and scrunched my muscles) on my front and it’s very much improved already. Thank you.
