I like how you pick the easy side and have the simple connector. Mine took 2hrs, the other side has the screen wash bottle and a connector with silly wires that fused themselves to the light module so I had to put it all back together the then wait a week for the parts from Mercedes and now the new wires won't stay in the connection...such a fiddley and awkward job.
@@MB212 Is this coding necessary if you just want to replace the DRL if one went out. I was planning on buying the replacement an just unplugging old one ad plugging in new one. Will that work? Let me know, thanks.
Yess they usually works to remove many times before change. If your unlucky they brake kinda bad when removing. But I have bought many spares so I change them!
@@MB212 Exactly what I was thinking about doing. One of the best things I love about your videos is you zoom in on the part and include the part number. #hugetimesaver!
Perhaps you can help, I want to change the DRLs on my 2009 from the circle shape to the straight line shape. Do I need to replace the entire bumper or is it possible to replace only the housing of the DRLs?
Never worked on any X164 but looking from the picture of the car it seems they are attached in the same way. After removing the wheel and liner you should be available to get them out.
Not really needed. But kinda meticulous sometimes and I want them to match 100% because the driver side light that’s still workings is since car was new (2012) so is not looking that shiny as to new light I replaced in the video. But I guess is also possible to do some polishing on the old one to have them to match better.
Loving this channel....just found it and I’m thrilled.! Any idea on how to get the cigarette lighter out. Followed your video for hardwiring in a 12v so I have the ‘cupholder unit’ out...can’t figure how to get the lighter out of the unit though . All help is appreciatet
Welcome to the channel I hope you stay here for a long time 🙏 Yess and no, I have not done it but I have checked the procedure from the mb documents and they recommend a special plier for it. I guess it could be done without the plier but don’t know how for the time being. I looking into this as soon I got time.
@@MB212 thnx brother! Dismantled the cupholder once I had it out, finally got the lighter out. 2 tabs on the illumination ring around the lighter at the back. It sucked but I couldn’t have gotten that far without your vids. Thnx so much man! Your my MB expert now! And I’m very thankful for you
Yess is only few models that have screws outside. If that’s the case is easy spotted and no screws at front mean you have broken clips if you try removing from outside!
Can you just swap these out, plug new one in and turn on if its same light housing style or do you need to do programming of some kind after swap? One went out. I kind of dont want to hasle with programming just over some DRLs. Let me know, much appreciated.
@@MB212 Hey, thanks, I was thinking I may as well ask and thought since its been log since you uploaded I had a maybe 5% chance of a reply. Good to know there isnt any programming required. How is the W212 holding up for you so far , as far as reliability or have you moved on?

Hi! My 2012 E250 Cab (A207) has DRLs fitted like your car but they don’t turn on even when the settings are set to “DRLs on whenever engine is running”; instead the small lamps inside the high beams turn on on this setting. hello, did you get to fix it. i have similar issue on my 2011 R350 with LED DrL/fog lights. I have activated it on the instrument cluster just as it was done on this video, no luck. when i connected them to a 12v supply, lights were working. Any suggestion. thanks
Mate why don't you show the left side as well as yes, the right side is far too easy to change ???? I tried to Google it and can t find anywhere, seems like either no one knows how to change the left side or is far too complicated and you need to go to the dealer???
I did lower the sound a bit was not meant to do any music in this video, but because most of the shots had really bad wind noise in them I had to comprise with music. I kinda also like to do these videos with the actual sound only.
Here is another video showing just how easy this can be done. th-cam.com/video/1tywmb81QCc/w-d-xo.html&ab_channel=AutoRepairGuys There is no need to pull a tire and spend a half hour breaking down the wheel wells and reinstalling all this mess. Here you will see how to make change out the DRL in less than a minute!
Please, do not watch this video until you view the one from Eddie Ramirez: th-cam.com/video/Rvkyh-y-870/w-d-xo.html&ab_channel=EddieRamirez. He shows how to simply unscrew the 4 screws holding the DRL onto the car. There is no need to remove the wheel and go in through the back to access these lights!

Great video
Will attempt it myself after watching this video...thank you MB212 👍🏼
Super cool. The same car, I have been driving since 2012. Continue reviews, very interesting)))
How many miles do you have on yours? Any issues or fast wear items (besides Tires)?
You have regular or 4Matic?
Good video. Camera shutter speed: 50 or 100 + ND filter, and the lights won't flicker. (3:40) Thank you for the informative video.
Thanks for the info, trying out that’s next time 👍
As always great video.
Theres one thing missing for me here - before and after shot from the same perspective.
Thanks for the feedback always good for improvements for future videos!
I like your Videos about the e class w212
I have to do this with my Glk 2014, it is also defective because water got in. Can you do this from the outside or would this process be like yours?
Did you code your light so your drl and headlights are both on?
Yess coded with vediamo 👍
