1 month later I finally got my LED star. This is something that took time to grow on me but I love it! Gets everyone's attention when you unlock the car or lock it! and easy to install!!! These instructions apply to 2008-2013 C Class BUT! May also apply to you!

Hi Raymond, just wanted to give an update... I FINALLY got my illuminated star on my 2103 W204 C250! YEA!!! However, I had a friend works at a MB dealership and he hooked up my Star in a better and easier way which works better with all the automation of the lights on the car... which was, he ran the connection cable to the fuse box in the engine compartment and just plugged the cable wires under a specific fuse. So NO WIRE SPLICING WAS NEEDED! :D This would probably be better to show everyone instead. Much easier and quicker installation too! :D

No added fuse. Used an existing fuse already in place. I'll take a picture of it tomorrow and show you.

Thanks. I tried the add a circuit route. I prefer to do it that way. I couldn't get it to go off. I found the fuse for the turning signal. The light came on but wouldn't turn off. I didn't want to mess around with electrical anymore. I will try the wheel method. Thanks again.
Chris Karn Wheel method would give you best approach and you will have plenty of room to work.

you can change the grille without taking all those bits apart and taking air intake inlets off, it just pops out, fitted myn in less than 5 mins the other day

Hi Ray ! awesome Videos man ! you got me immediately as a subscriber from Germany :D ... one thing about this update that we are not allowed in Germany to turn the fog lights on in the normal weather .. so maybe you can update us with a simple small video using the way to connect the star to the engine fuse box (mentioned in a comment by Bernie Cruz which you already saw it last week).

Top tip. DONT use your hood as a work bench

Under no circumstances allow anything metallic touch the body work cover any zips on your clothing with a piece of electrical tape, remove any jewellery, do not store parts or tools on the floor, wear gloves if possible (nitrile preferably due to latex contaminates) and above all else never ever place anything on the bodywork that shouldnt be there.

+john smith Thanks! I don't have a video yet... I'm looking into the parts right now. I am aware of some cheap ones off eBay but I have heard bad things. The factory module is $800 and only lights up in BLUE!?! So needless to say I'm still searching.

Why not just use a fuse tap in the fuse panel to the ignition fuse? Nice and clean and no cutting g or splicing wires.

fitz phillips it comes with the chrome star. I ended up buying the same one.
Exactly what +Brian Richman said. If you buy a new grille then you can swap the star for the black one. OR remove the star and wrap it with vinyl
Mine didn't have the chrome star. I emailed the company to ask why no star.

The Brown and Green wiring is how we do it in Germany, its pretty much standard here and nothing from Mercedes :)

@@RaymondUrias We have chosen Colors after the Words.. Grounding in German is Erdung, "Erde"is basically Dirt so we take Brown, and since Electricity goes around as "Green" that one is Green. We Germans take everything pretty literally haha

the star looks great in the dark
does the star reflect even if your lights are off? should this not be the case then we still need to get somebody who will be able to make up a star that will be able to reflect on the dark with no use of battery or engine power. However moving to the current given star that lights up is still my option that will take my Benz to the future

Would you know which color i need to tap into?? please help THANK YOU !!!
Hi there, I wanted to point out that instead of wiring the logo to the side markers or your fog lights why don't you wire them to your headlights so that when the lights come on at night it will come on as well, that's what I did to mine

Does it mean that the star illumianates in fog When you turn your foglights on?

I’m guessing that, like nearly everything else, these stars are not compatible with 2023 C-43 AMG.
Looks great! I'm doing this on my C63 now, thanks. Funny thing though, the "c63 look" that you got for the grill doesn't match my actual stock 2009 C63 grill... I have the two bars across the grill and your new one has a single bar - I guess that is the difference between C63 and "new C63". Either way, looks great.
Lol yes I have heard about the 2 blades. If you plan on doing this to the C63 you will have to Dremel out the opening a little bigger to accommodate the star. I do have a video planned for the AMG community soon.
I found the solution and it is to get an aftermarket grill specifically for the Pre-Face-Lift C63 and then you can get the aftermarket LED star. Costs more, but that is the AMG tax for ya...

I got mine today, looks really nice and is glowing great.
But it looks to me that water might go into the electronics really easy of the star itself.

Black grill looks great, it matches perfect with the rest of blacked out trim pieces around the car but the glowing night star just looks tacky big time

Fog lamps are for fog (rare) and they turn off when your hi-beams are on. Does your star stay lit when your hi-beams are on?

This is kool, I have always wanted to do, but unfortunately, it appear that I will not be able. I ordered the star and send in my VIN# along with the online order, the mercedes dealer was so kind and came back, telling me that my vehicle have the proximity cruise control, which is installed right behind the star and as such, it will not take the illuminating star...such a downers, I wish there is a way to still do it.

ken ulickey Thanks! Other then fog lights you can tap into headlights so it powers up when headlights are on or you can go into your fuse box and find one that matches your needs.
What about the side markers? Do you think I will throw a error code if I did that? Do you know if the power source is strong enough on the side markers? Thanks again for the help!
ken ulickey yes side markers will work with out error if you tap them....but that's alot more work (Remove wheel, remove wheel well) I mean you could turn the wheel and reach in there but it will be very difficult to see what you are doing IMO
Thanks, Raymond. I do not mind the extra work if it will not cause any errors and everything works as it should. With the way I typically use my lights it would work a lot better for me to connect to the side markers. You have been a big help, man. Thanks again!

i changed the normal star to led star but after 2 weeks its not lighting up and the fog light as well .. can u tell what is the problem ?
Raymond I watched this then upgraded my grill on my c250 to the diamond style 1 and fitted the led star tapped into my fogs, works well, I now have a set of led strip drl that are very similar to the facelift w204 oem ones, have you ever fitted them? Can't find much guidance on line but think I may have to start cutting out the bracket which held my original fog lights, any help would be much appreciated

What bulbs are you using to get the white light for the fog lights. I replaced mine with white halogens but they are still yellow.

Nice video ...quick question.. I have a 2015 e400 sedan and mine came with the illuminated star from factory.. I want to swap out the OEM grill to a single fin grill .. is the center star swap a simple one? Jus disconnecting harness to the illuminated star and swapping out and reinserting the star unto the single fin grill ? Thanks in advance
You need to make sure the grille you buy has a removable star. And yes it will be a simple swap

Hi Raymond, I tried to install the star LED by splicing into the fog light circuit. But the LED was too dim most likely because the fog light circuit only had 0.6 Volts going to it. I want to try the method suggested by Bernie. Where would the best place be to connect the negative (black conductor) of the LED? Should I just find a bolt and ground the conductor or is there a good ground near the fuse box? Also the fuse Bernie connects to is the instrument cluster in my case. I hope nothing will require reset when I remove the fuse to tap into the circuit.
+Varun Chauhan I don't know about rest you would have to ask Bernie. Mine was bright (I have redone my star and will be showing the new one this Saturday) and so are several others on Instagram that have installed them. You could have a bad egg on your hands. As for ground points there are several near the wheel well and bumper frame. Anywhere with metal to metal would work.

Sorry to say in my opinion that don’t look sinister at all!! Looks like a Honda to me the silver color grill was 10x more better it stands the car out more for what it is a Mercedes Benz
So lemme get this, the star is ONLY illuminated when the fogs are on? That's a total ghetto installation. Shouldn't it be on anytime the ignition is on?

Also why would you want it to be on during the daytime. The sun will over power it and shorten the life of the LED. The less you use any bulb the longer the life it will have this principal is applicable to all bulbs. Also I did this video for legal reasons, some counties/ states don't allow any other light source, so by doing this you can choose when to turn it on and off. Needless to say I'm sure you will perfer my Gen 2 Star
