Thank you for the update. Surprisingly to me I wasn’t (too) worried. With your “backups” there’s plenty to keep us revisiting while you sort it out. Props to the hardest working man in vintage F1 media. 👍👍🤟🤙
That shot of Alonso tucked right underneath Massa’s rear wing down the pit straight with 5 laps to go has lived rent free in my head for the last 17 years.
The safety car booting it to avoid the incoming Liuzzi was a sight to see. Could have been fatal. Amazing the old safety precautions with tractors on the track whilst under yellows.
Perhaps the best race of the eventful 2007 season. What a shame we didn't see Markus Winklehock again after this race. Mind I decided to have a change for this race by muting the ITV commentary entirely and having the BBC Radio 5 Live commentary on for one reason.... Murray Walker! And of course there had to be chaos at the start for Murray's guest appearance didn't they? ;-)
What a fantastic race, chaotic first and last laps, legends on the podium and beautiful Winkelhock! Legendary Nürburgring first showed Lewis that F1 isn't only a chain of wins and podiums, also it's a high level of stress. Thanks a lot Zeddie, we go! 🏁✌
Brundle talking about not wanting to go under a crane in the wet brings back bad memories of the future crash of Jules bianchi. Dream debut for Marcus winklehock. Prefer the classic nurburgring then newer street tracks.
I thought that was on BBC radio. There's a clip of the opening laps in 50fps, the screaming after the lights go off is hilarious.. "AND ITS GO GO GO" 😂
@@sickemboy9352 the last german gp murray walker sent him off the edge and into retirement the line was crossed convinced barrichello was in the barrier but it was schumacher
Couldn't stop laughing at the bit where Ralf wanted to remonstrate to Heidfeld but the marshals wouldn't allow him to. Ironic that 2 races ago I was singing Nick's praises then he has a completely messy race like this (and I think he was more to blame than Kubica for the start incident too).
It seems crazy now that with cars aquaplaning off the track on the same corner as a recovery vehicle that Charlie didn’t red flag the race. Maybe Jules would still be with us if the threat was realised then.
Crazy how dangerous F1 was even back then. Letting the teleporter olgo collect a car while they were still racing was crazy and unfortunately, that lesson was learned some year's later in Japan. It would never happen now. Also, Lewis and his car lifted and put back on the track to go another thing that would not happen now. Still was a great race do. I do remember watching it live and loving it.
Brilliant race one of the best. Great overtaking battles on track with Alonso and Massa Cars Spinning Sliding off the track in the wet dramatic start chaotic Chaos!
This season had so many amazing, exciting races. This was one of them. Only Spa was a bit boring as Kimi cruised to the win but Magny Cours, China, Interlagos were pretty dramatic and awesome too.
What a great battle between Alonso & Massa! Great to watch gripping exciting Alonso was faster and it was a great Overtaking move. Great wheel to wheel racing. Massa was struggling with Vibrations Alonso and McLaren better in the wet. Great win for Alonso. Great day for Red Bull with 3rd & 5th. Wurz strong day for him and his best result of the season.
This was an awesome race. Alonso did very well, Massa complained about the move but in my opinion it was clean. Hamilton had a bad day at the office and so did Kimi. Very entertaining race. And Schumi giving Ron Denis the trophy was comedic 🤣
@@nicolaclapizYes Massa was Angry with Alonso for Complaining about the contact Massa said you won and you say that. Massa was Angry with Alonso because Alonso thought Massa did it on Purpose. Alonso was Angry with Massa for the Contact.
That thumbnail photo, wow. Never seen that before. People cite China and Brazil, but Hamilton also lost the title here with that front suspension failure.
Being a Wurz fan was miserable that year, he was off the pace pretty much everywhere but this was that one race where he was not (there was also the Canadian GP but that was more of a fluke with fuel strategy + SC than a great performance from him). I remember vividly my heart beating hard when Wurz almost overtook Webber in the final chicane. But that was his last good race in F1. And I had become a fan just a few weeks earlier, so that's it, one good race from my first favourite F1 driver and he was gone soon after, not the luckiest choice. At least I got to see him winning in Le Mans 2 years after.
There were many, actually. Not sure what you're talking about. Australia was exciting because a rookie was challenging Alonso. Indy was exciting Canada was exciting Silverstone was exciting Nurburgring was exciting Fuji was exciting China was exciting Brazil was exciting Enough.
Tbh idk, seemed like Massa tightened up on Alonso, yes it was an aggressive pass, but Massa's driving caused the contact between their two cars, and Alonso keeping his cool narrowly avoided the two of them getting wiped out.
When I heard Winkelhock making his debut I knew what start we were getting. It's a bit of a shame they waited with the restart until it was internediate time as Winkelhock was the only one on the wet tyre. Massa was blocking but Alonso forced his way around him, great racing.
The race of the year featured a deluge of rain, enabling Markus Winkelhock, who had gambled on extreme wets, to lead on his debut. A tangle between BMW teammates Heidfeld and Kubica resulted in a puncture for Hamilton on the first lap. The battle for victory ensued between Alonso and Massa, while Red Bull celebrated a significant payday with Webber securing his first podium for the team and Coulthard finishing fifth, flanking the Williams of Wurz. Meanwhile, Hamilton recorded his first-ever non-podium, non-points finish.
Looking back at this race and its easy to see that an accident like Bianchi's was waiting to happen. I suppose we were fortunate it didn't happen sooner.
Without a doubt both are among the top 10 best seasons in F1 history, though I definitely rate 2007 higher because it was for long time 4 way championship and to the very end 3 way championship between both Ferrari and McLaren drivers. 2010 and 2012 are also up there as some of the most memorable seasons
Alonso wasn’t happy with Massa for the Contact. Alonso thought Massa did it on purpose and that offended Massa they had an argument about it. Massa said you won and you say that.

The legend Winkelhock!!!
I always wonder why he didn't get further opportunities in F1

Jeez, the Toro Rosso wasn't that far away from going under the tractor at speed. Absolutely terrifying to think about.

Alonso at his best
Yep
2007 was a great season and this was a fantastic race. We will forever remember Winkelhock in his first start. The Nürburgring is just awesome.
