What I didn't know before this video is that Alonso already took a long time to exit the pit lane after his first run, he just didn't blocked Hamilton long enough to look suspicious. For some reason, Alonso always had some tactics on the line between being smart and dodgy and I have respect for that.
The weekend that the season explodes at McLaren. Mistakes on both sides but Alonso takes the blame. No spoilers. Vettels first race in the red bull family. Much was made of the Ferrari refuelling error but massa just didn't have the pace. miss being able to see f1 qualifying on live tv.
I do agree that the significance of what Hamilton did was glossed over, but Alonso's reaction was stupid. So as blame goes, he can blame himself here for losing the world title.
I think the ONLY reason Fernando was held in the pit lane for 1 minute was so that he was in front on track ahead of Lewis. Which was supposed to be the order they go into final qualifying.
Technically both as bad as each other here, as Hamilton ensured he'd have a lighter car for the final laps of Q3, and to stop a lap later than Alonso in the race. Alonso's red mist cost him though; If he'd have just remained calm until after the session, Hamilton would have been the only one in the wrong and the team could have just stopped him 2 laps early in the race as punishment; So long as Alonso could stay with Hamilton, he'd surely come out ahead for the 2nd stint. Not sure how that'd have played out though, as given how quick Kimi was in the race, he'd probably have jumped them both!
@@1greenMitsiThe same Alonso that was using tactics to ensure number 1 driver status (to begin the season) and was allowed to veto Lewis from a test in 2007?

Wasn't it after Alonso threatened to go public with Spygate if he didn't get number one status? I don't blame Ron personally for Alonso not being able to win the championship on his own terms.
@ab8jeh No, Alonso threatened to do this unless Mclaren made Hamilton run out of fuel in the race (this was before he'd been given the grid penalty). Dennis then spoke with Whitmarsh about what to do and both agreed that they needed to phone Moseley and tell all, but also take Alonso out of the car for the race. Moseley advised them to keep Alonso in the car in the circumstances, and then relaunched the Spygate investigation from there. Turns out that Moseley and Ecclestone already knew, as Alonso had already told Flavio Briatore about the emails. Also, a reminder that Dennis was furious with both of them for this; He was always impartial with all teams mates. It's Anthony Hamilton who went to the stewards and that's what triggered Alonso's penalty, not Ron. I didn't like him either, but I didn't see any Hamilton bias.
Teams exploiting a loophole. You were supposed to qualify on race fuel during 1-lap qualifying 2003-2005, but when the latest quali format came in since 2006, the rule of qualifying on race fuel was still there, so drivers would just circulate around the track for Q3, burning off fuel to make the car lighter for when they do their hot lap for grid position right at the end.
