Among the courses that used to hold F1 Sepang is one of the best, tricky, physical and interesting to watch. The last win for Italians and first 1-2 for Renault F1 Team since the early 80's was there in 2006. Thanks a lot Zeddie, we go! 🏁✌
7:50 we have moved a long way from this... an unprotected crane with cars passing at +200Km/h through the corner, mere meters away. I miss that F1, with far less red flags and safety cars, "purer" in a way, but ultimately it costed Bianchi's life.
Fisi last race win in the sport, funnily enough all 3 wins came from somewhat fortunate circumstances Brazil 03 with the red flag, Aus 05 with the Quali weather break and here with Alonso having refuelling issues for the Q3 fuel burn stage compromising Quali and his race Also how Williams blew this opportunity it’s just another foreshadowing of their downfall this year is the year I really associate with their downfall with the BMW engine no longer hiding their flaws (by 2004 it was already struggling to do that)

And the last driver who has won the drivers World Championship for Ferrari is Kimi Raikkonen. That's 17 years already, crazy how the time goes. I remember it like yesterday.
Seen a few comments mentioning how far Renault (Or Team Enstone) have fallen since 2006 and this stat probably sums it up best: Renault (Enstone) won 8 races in 2006, they’ve only won 5 between 2007-2024
"Ciao Pietro". An emotional weekend for Fisico. He drove for something bigger than himself this weekend. BAR had a seriously fast car this weekend. How Kimi beat Jenson in the standings, I don't really know.
On average pace McLaren and Honda were relatively equal but the reason why Kimi beat Jenson was because of Honda's mid season slump in form when Geoff Willis got sacked, Button wasn't making Q3 in fact he was getting knocked out in Q1 on occasions.
@@classicsportclassictiyl8547 It was because Kimi was obviously a better driver, beating Button in a straight duel at Hockenheim was a huge result for example. The passes on Jenson at Melbourne, Nurburgring, Hockenheim and China were mega too. Kimi was driving the wheels off it.
Italian driver Alberto Ascari won at Monza in 1951 & 1952 while driving for Ferrari. He is also the last Italian Driver to win the Drivers Championship in 1952 & 1953 while driving for Ferrari and he is the Last Italian drivers Champion in F1.
Fisichella still the last Italian to be somewhat successful in F1. A guy that based on his potential should've achieved more but he was unlucky & also didn't make things better with his mindset most times
@@_toyotaFalse. Webber and Rosberg were a solid lineup. Given one became a world champion beating Hamilton in the same machinery, he can't have been that bad. The car they had to work with was utter rubbish with the reliability problems

Well done Fisichella always supported him from his Benetton days. Looking forward to watching the rest of the 2006 season it was a real classic.
Seems weird to think these days that Red Bull ever ran with Ferrari engines!!
Those two straights with the grandstand in the middle are pretty iconic.
The Last Italian Driver to win a GP.
What a great race, again! I'm regretting not wanting to watch this back in the days, but Big Z is lifting my spirits. Thanks a heap!

Crazy how the whole Renault F1 effort has fallen since then
Ha I saw "ALB" on the lap chart and momentarily thought it was Alex Albon 🙂
The pressure will be on Kimi A to be the first Italian to win a F1 since this race. Could happen as soon as next season though!

HIGHER AND HIGHER!
Still the best F1 theme in my opinion, also because of that it’s one of my favorite songs.
I always loved that theme intro. Dare I say it was better than the Chain...I know that's probably because I was young when it came out.
@@MD-uu5nt No, the Cain is better and a better fit for Formula 1.

@detonator2112 Yeah.
@detonator2112 They came Close with Alonso in 2010 & 2012 Ferrari.
@detonator2112 True same I remember it like it was Yesterday. Kimi deserved the Championship but you could say Hamilton also deserved it.
@detonator2112 True
The Last 1-2 for Renault....How great this team was...Now it's sad to see.
F1 must return here, great circuit. In my opinion the best from tilke
I’d argue for Turkey or Austin being better but that’s just me

Great drive by Fishicella perhaps his best of the year.

Fisi Last win carriere F1...
I was expecting Ferrari to ask Massa to move over. Glad they learned their lesson.
Team orders were illegal
Had it been late in season I'm not even sure Fisi would have been allowed to win, let alone Massa ahead of Schumi!
