The most realistic post on TH-cam about this issue. I've watched soooo many useless videos and finally came across one worth watching! This should be the recommended video for anyone with code 4013 issues!!!

Tim I don't know how to thank you. I can confirm that this method worked on my iPhone 11 Pro Max in July 2022. Phone was in bootloop for 3 months - several Apple Stores in Germany couldnt fix it and I didn't want to loose my data.
I pluged out the Face ID cable and it worked!!!!! All my data is restored - I am spechless.

Thank You!!!~~~~!!! Repeating what many have said, my screen had a small corner crack down into the digitizer right in the area of the face ID and speaker, welding in the rain last night my phone shut down and started the boot loop issue, tried everything, tore the phone apart, removed battery to make it shut down, unhook all the connections in the phone, redo it all turn it on and boot loop still there, so forced the phone into recover mode, tried updating, boot loop prevented, tried resetting the phone, boot loop prevented it.... Was about to give up and head to buy a new phone but googled error 4013 and your video came up, soon as I you said unhook and turn back on it made total sense, mine likely fried in the rain last night causing the boot loop issue! Major thank you for taking the time to post this video, it definitely helped me when nothing else worked!!!! Subscribed!

Hey. I’m experiencing the same problem. It’s my iPhone 12. It had a slight water damage so I kept it in uncooked rice for 72 hours and it worked well afterwards. But Face ID didn’t work.3 days later I decided to update my software to IOS17 from 16. Almost 11 hours later my phone started rebooting. The logo keeps coming on ‘and off . And I have low storage as well. Maybe around 3GB left. I tried to update and restore but in keep running into the 4013 error. I’m praying that this method will work. Is there a link to a step by step procedure to remove the earpiece ?

Thanks Tim. I can confirm this worked for me - got me out of the 4013 boot loop. It's an iPhone XR - been dropped way too many times. Got stuck in the boot loop, tried the iTunes Update, and that would always fail after applying the update because the phone would inevitably reboot. Tried a new USB cable - same thing. Found your video, and tried this - took me about 10 mins to unscrew the screen, heat it up, and remove it, and find the earpiece cable, and then remove it - after that, restarted the iPhone, used iTunes to update it, and got back into the phone. Thanks for that!

The boot loop issue is fused many times by an issue with the proximity sensor or a component on that flex assembly. That assembly also controls the earpiece speaker, SIRI and speakerphone microphone, ambient light sensor as well as the flood illuminator on the phones with Face ID. You can buy the replacement proximity sensor online, but Face ID will no longer work if replaced. However, everything else will work properly afterwards!

This definitely bypasses something that must be a commonly faulty hardware piece. While it did work to allow me to get it to finally update through iTunes, when I hooked the disconnected cord back up, it unfortunately went back into a logo boot loop. Still though, least I know I can access the phone again to double check all y data is correctly backed up for the time being. Thank you very much for this video.

So it‘s 2023 and i gotta say this really saved my phone and data. I have an iPhone 11 Pro and my phone just randomly turned off and went into recovery mode. I got Error 4013 when trying to update it. I tried all kinds of software and nothing helped. So i opened it up, unplugged the face ID cable and it really worked. The only issue i still have is that my phone turns off, reboots every 2-3 minutes and overheats pretty fast. So backing it up is kinda impossible right now. Could this be a battery issue, or do you know what else it could be? Thanks so much for this information🙏🏻

Hello. My iPhone 12 suffered water damage a week ago. I kept it in uncooked rice for 72 hours and it worked great again, except for Face ID. Yesterday I updated my software to IOS 17. I was low on storage space so I uninstalled some apps and installed new software. but after installing the software I downloaded the app again. My phone turned off and started rebooting. The Apple logo appears on and off. I tried to force start and enter recovery mode. My laptop said to install an update or restore. I tried both but error 4013 keeps appearing. Will this method work for an iPhone 12? And is there a link explaining how to remove the earpiece step by step ? Thank you so much 🙏🏻

    1. What was the part you replaced? Was it called earpiece speaker sensor assembly?
    2. If the part you replaced was the earpiece speaker sensor assembly, did your face ID stop working after replacing the part?

On the 12, it’s the earpiece/proximity/light sensor that needs to be replaced, that’s all one piece, not 3 pieces as the name implies. Thanks for this video. However in my case, it did not fix it. I had this problem after reassembling and replacing the motherboard. I took everything apart again, except the mobo. There was probably a shortage or a flex cable I did not plug correctly. I put back everything again but booting up the phone after putting one by one, front cam, rear cam, and finally the speaker / sensor. The speaker is the last part I put back and it worked.
