    Very biased debate. I say this as someone that is pro-immigration.
    Immigrants take up work for low skilled workers, because they are willing to work for very little. This is why you see xenophobia happens at the low end of the economy. You can't ignore the grievances of the people at the bottom.

    The biggest lie on all continents is that migrants add value. The people who are already unemployed in South Africa can still add value they are just not given the opportunity to do so. The media continues to stop voices of concern for their own poor on their continent instead try to focus the attention only on those migrants who would get more tweets. Instead of looking elsewhere, try helping the poor African women who tried to say she needed it. The man who stood up and said South Africa is saturated with musicians cares more for his people than anyone who spoke at this panel for his concern was for his direct community that is in poverty. The others cared about their own vanity.

      The host especially only cared about her own vanity? Why in the heck did she have to bring up her own husband being a musician? Is she that daft to not realize that his argument isn't against those who are musicians and already in SA but against more coming in when South Africa (quite frankly the whole continent) needs to develop other industries....? craziness

    People are ignorant of the fact that even in precolonial Africa, you could not just wander not into the tribal village of another but grazing land without risking certain death. However, in the new dispensation we have to be cognisant of global hostility towards the African and be more tolerant of one another.

    We need to treat our African brothers and sisters with respect. These are mothers, fathers, children who are looking for basic human rights and refuge in South Africa. As a black South African I am so deeply ashamed to hear these stories, but even more saddened to hear that they are given a cold shoulder by South Africans. We have been living with whites for such a long time, and so now we think like them and treat our own brothers and sisters like how whites treat us . . . we need to do better SA

    • @bumpyjohnson7204
      @bumpyjohnson7204 8 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Why should millions of illegal immigrants and refugees come into South Africa and use resources paid for by South Africans to uplift themselves without contributing anything back?
      You know damn well ILLEGAL immigrants don't pay taxes, so why do they get to use infrastructure we pay for and maintain?

    • @Kozmiknomadiko
      @Kozmiknomadiko 8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Because if Black South Africans don't introduce new and fresh ideas coming from different parts of the continent, we'll keep being lackeys for white folks.
      People coming from Somalia, Nigeria, Kenya, Ethiopia, etc., have a rich history and a very vibrant culture. We need that, because our cultures are being vilified. We need new ideas from our African people on how we can imagine ourselves as a people.
      And the only thing illegal and foreign here are the borders that were created to separate black south africans from kinfolk.

    But it's rare to find a Nigerian working as petrol attendant or waitress, most of them are living in much better place than South African citizens yet they are bouncers. Zimbabweans, Mozambicans and Somalis work hard and contribute to our economy, yet most Nigerians are either pastors or Bouncers. It's not a norm it's a fact, visit any township in South Africa most Nigerians are supplying drugs. It's not only in South Africa but everywhere, that's why in not easy for Nigerians to be granted visas to travel to Europe.

    My heart breaks for the Somali mother, Malyuun and her children's situation 💔 I really hope she has received the help the needed. This is a strong Somali mother doing what it takes to provide for her family.
    I always get emotional seeing my Somali people suffering all over the world, being seen as unwanted and at the mercy of others. 30 years of war and Insecurity has destroyed the fabrics of our society.
    But I'd like to remind some of the (hopefully minority).xenophobic South Africans who are targeting Somalis. Remember this, history is cyclical, my parents remember a time they were anti Apartheid activist, sympathising with the plight of the natives against the racist system. Our government has also played a role in helping fund the movements to topple the system. Today, my people are the bottom, hopefully it won't remain so for long as we find our feet slowly.
    History shall remember, and those good heart south Africans ♥ thank you for helping my people in moment of need.
