I saw his death coming over an hour in advance, so I wasn't too broken up about it. Seeing Edmont struggling to keep himself composed like that, however, really hurt.
Haurchefant was my most beloved character, along with Ysayle for vastly different reasons. and his death was probably the worst thing that ever happened in Heavensward. but it was a fitting end for him. Died a hero with a smile on his face protecting the one he loved (in more ways than one in my head-canon) may his next life give him the glory he deserves.
Oh no "i love him" at the start is so sadge, i didnt care that much for him and i was still very sad cant even imagine what it felt for u, RIP best boi
yeah, kinda same honestly.. prior to his death, i always just saw him as a cool side character that i liked because he was such a staunch ally, but when he died i legit cried, and even got angry. these writers are something else.

Haurchefant's last scene broke me, too. and i wasn't even expecting to feel so strongly about him. prior to this, i always just saw him as a side character that i liked but didn't have any real 'connection' with. but in that scene, everything changed. i surprised myself by actually crying when it happened.
could I advise you, if you're in the mood to get your heart to melt, to read "Tales from the Dragonsong - Thoughts Unspoken" ? Synopsis: A messenger carries a letter written to your character by Haurchefant, but it gets misplaced. FYI: this letter, as far as i could check, is canon. and it's on the FFXIV official website. Have a nice read. and i hope you have something/someone to hug.
Ive never recovered from this, his death still hurts me to think about even. He was nothing but supportive and when he saved us, he saved the entire universe, possibly multiple times by now. I think he would be proud of us, we still smile quite often, even when we have no reason to.
I am hopelessly in love with Haurchefant. In the Japanese version he says “your smile is truly splendid” I have that tattooed on my arm to remind me of him.
1:57, "Okay, that seems a little melodramatic and out of place, even by Sir Hershy's standards. I feel this is a death flag." 2:09, "Yyyyep, he's gonna die." I am legit surprised by how few people had these same thoughts at this point. I don't think I've seen a single streamer mention those choice of words.

Haurchefant's death was tough, but it was having to go tell Edmont that his son was dead... That's the part that broke me.
This x100. I managed to put myself back together, composed myself somewhat, but then that scene...when he said "...my...son." I was destroyed.

Nine years later it still stings.
The game's foreshadowing was not enough you just have to create your own foreshadowing
