I recommend building a power armor display, and putting a chair beside it. This works all the time, so you put your power armor in display, sit in the chair for 2 in game hours(always), and then go into your power armor with or without moving, I recommend not moving to not waste time, then repeat it, he will like it every single time you do this.

For those who decide to complete The Nuclear Option with the Railroad, it seems possible to keep X6-88 alive. However, this requires completing Mass Fusion with the Institute, which will result in becoming enemies with the Brotherhood of Steel. A note regarding this has been added to the description above.
I would like to note that if you choose the railroad ending and x688 happens to still be north of nordhagen beach, you can still recruit him to be a companion.
Update 8/21/2024: I don't know if this changed for the latest patch, but I was able to find him with the VIP tracker on a high level character AFTER destroying the Institute, and travel with him. Although his AI does cause immediate aggression with anyone in the railroad hideout, he does allow Railroad players (REPRESENT) to assist Railroad Checkpoints in the world without issue. If this is a glitch, I've no idea how I pulled it off, and it's running extremely smoothly. All I did, so far as I know, was do Institute missions with him as my companion a couple of times, then ditch him to complete the Railroad Ending on this character.
How times do you think you have to get in power armor in order to fully maximize your relationship with him? I know this is 4 years old but I love Fallout 4 I’m replaying it for like the millionth time
You need 1000 affinity points, a “liked that” is 15 points, so about 66 times. You also get points over time, so it will be a bit less than that. I just did a similar trick for Deacon with lockpicking while watching some netflix, and about an hour is what it took me

I'm following your minuteman ending guide, I've done everything as instructed, I have X6-88 as companion, and blind betrayal is in progress, Mass Fusion is gotten, I've not yet talked to Allie Fillmore, Spoils of war is not yet begun, I have gotten X6's affinity. I don't see how you could finish blind betrayal, and avoid getting 'Tactical Thinking' instead of Spoils of War...

After that, you can complete Blind Betrayal. However, only do this once you're absolutely certain that you want to finish the main questline.

TBF you can only complete the nuclear option with the railroad after rocket red glare, so you will be enemies with the brotherhood anyway
In the other videos you imply that you can get his perk and remain friendly with all 3 factions. I assume it was a mistake, or am I mistaken?

I blew up the instatute and still have him as a companion just kept him at Warwick

If I remember correctly, he'll begin shooting if you bring him to Railroad HQ. Just don't bring him anywhere near them, and you should be fine.
