This isn't quite right. You can go a lot further than Show No Mercy. The problem was asking Proctor Teagan for a side job. Avoid that. All other side jobs are okay. You can go see Captain Kells for an interesting side quest. Then he sends you to go "deal with" Brian Virgil. Personally, I like the guy, so I chose not to do it. You can go all the way until Tactical thinking (Don't start that quest - avoid Kells like the plague). You can use console commands to get past this without triggering hostility, but for those that don't/can't, this isn't an option. You can go until the Powering Up for the Institute. Don't start End Of The Line. This turns the Railroad hostile. The Brotherhood will be hostile as soon as you start Mass Fusion by entering the Relay, even if you insist that Allie Filmore stays behind. If you go to the Brotherhood to Proctor Ingram to warn her, she'll insist that she should go with you to Mass Fusion. Decline. Go get it yourself (!!). You can get past this impasse with console commands , otherwise you're going to have to pick a side when you get it. I don't believe the Institute gets angry if you give it to the Brotherhood. Maybe I have to be corrected on that. The Railroad will be, unfortunately, in a state of being at the whim of others. You can't complete Underground Undercover until the Institute starts End Of The Line, which, as soon as you warn Desdemona, has you in the middle of a firefight at Railroad HQ. Paladin Brandis may be among the intruders. You don't really want to finish Underground Undercover anyway, as the next move after this firefight is to destroy the Prydwen, being instant enemies. And of course, you just have to not get banished from the Institute for the Minutemen if you want to have peace between all (there is however, a tricky situation near Graygarden that, if you don't do the right thing, then Preston will be mad at you... and walk off... Wait... That's a GOOD thing, right?). For Modders: Project Valkyrie fixes up all the loose ends. I won't go into details, but it's absolutely worth it.
@@b3nt079 Yes you can. Just do Blind Betrayal (and return back to talk to Maxson). It's Tactical thinking directly following that, that turns you hostile against the Railroad. So See Maxson, then avoid Kells, then go directly to Danse's bunker, and max out his affinity. Best thing to do is to do some Diamond City quests, so that you won't be bombarded by random Brotherhood fire, and he won't complain about you helping out the Railroad/Institute. There is the other option, of course, where you can help him become leader of the Brotherhood... See "The Danse Dilemma".
DerrickCGaming you know when you are doing the minutemen main quest and you fail some quests from the railroad and the brotherhood, for example, tradecraft, semper invitca and no mercy,is that a good sign, does that mean you're are enemy's with the railroad and the brotherhood or doe sit have to say you are enemies with them or no,I'm confused
So after this ending, I would be the general of the minuteman, an high ranked Paladin of the brotherhood and an agent of the railroad, and to all of them, a hero. Nice
He asks multiple times throughout the game and I keep thinking are you kidding me Preston I listened to your dumbass about the settlements and you didn’t pay attention to a question you asked
Honestly feel like the fact that my deacon was already half dead when I found him was sad. Literally in the middle of nowhere near the Plaza thing with all the raiders, half dead.
Not me I don't like any of the factions I'd make my own faction of tech thieves, and tactical stealth soldiers to kill the institute, and use it as a safety shelter, and use liberty primes power core to power all of Boston, and rebuild Boston with the institute technology use the minutemen as a police force, and nick will be the head of the p.i. brotherhood will be the military railroad will be in charge of turning synths into humans I would eliminate Maxon, and put danse in charge, and make Cait her own mma arena for raiders we capture so she can do what she does best. The circumstances for raiders are either join use go to jail, or become part of the mma program I would help virgil with super mutant cures have ferals wiped out, and ghouls used as teachers to teach people about prewar times animals genetically modified to not be radiated anymore use decontamination showers on everyone who enters the city then slowly start putting American back together then start ,moving to other continents
I just want to say how incredibly professional this video is everything is right here and it looks like it must of took a lot of time explaining everything plus the description. Subbed
The video isn't exactly for entertainment purposes. It's a how to video on HOW TO do something VERY COMPLICATED in Fallout 4. It would be assumed that if you are here watching this video, it is because you have COMPELLING INTEREST in getting this done. Dude makes the video very detailed yet, EVEN ADDS TIME STAMPS GALORE just so you don't have to be bored by over explanation or even hypnotized by his voice. Video starts with what you NEED to know, WHAT NOT TO DO, then makes every resource available for you to find EXACTLY what information you are looking for to complete the task for yourself.
+Shane Delara Agreed, I wiped out the Rail Road because I thought I had no choice, but after discovering that I could keep all three factions alive, I restarted my game, (Plus I wasn't happy with my neglect of the settlements)
I killed maxon for his coat and beat the game with the Minutemen which meant that i could have deacon as a companion and I know you might think that I missed out on power armor but I have the quantum x01 power armor and idc about a jetpack that much
Just finished beating the game for about the 4th or 5th time now. I followed this guide the whole way through. So much happier with the outcome and how things are in the Commonwealth post-institute.
@@DerrickCGaming Minutemen path to the end only opens up after you become enemies with the Institute, iirc you fail some other faction quests after completing Defend the Castle. Railroad: You can do Underground Undercover up until the "Continue working with Father" objective", this questline depends on how far you progress in the Institute. The cutoff point is after completing Powering Up for the Institute, but you're already enemies with the Brotherhood at that point because of Mass Fusion. Brotherhood of Steel: You can complete up to Blind Betrayal, and have Tactical Thinking started, but don't complete any objective for Tactical Thinking. Institute: You have to choose between the Brotherhood and the Institute at Mass Fusion. Faction balance point which will be your setup then do minuteman chain to get kicked from institute
@@darunealbaneit’s dumb legendary railway rifles are locked behind underground undercover. Like cmon I can do without but I’d like the option to get one. Oh well three sources of radiant quests are better than two or even one.
I'm currently debating on whether I should create a simplified version of this video that goes over just the main requirements and my recommended method of getting banished from the Institute (as seen in the video starting at 6:34 or so). I want to know your thoughts. UPDATE (July 25th, 2016): The new video can be found here: th-cam.com/video/dKpxViy-OzY/w-d-xo.html Thank you for your incredible support!
***** I put the requirements in the description above, but I'll reiterate them here. Ensure that you don't complete Underground Undercover, Mass Fusion, or Tactical Thinking. Ensure that you complete Tradecraft before entering the Institute for the first time. In addition, ensure that you issue the evacuation order during the Nuclear Option. That will help you to stay on good terms with the Railroad. I hope that helps.
+BreakfastLunchGaming it's probably not all that important but I did sanuctuary before I did jewel of the commonwealth and the first step will this mess anything up or am I fine
Boy this was a big check list, but I’m happy to confirm that this guide is 100% accurate this truly is the best guide and very professionally presented thank you DerrickCGaming I really appreciated the help throughout the process 👍
+BreakfastLunchGaming too be honest, I agree, you deserve to be one of those 1 mil youtubers. like Fudgemuppet etc. ;3 Good luck and you've earned yourself a subscriber :D
This is essential in survival for me personally. Having the additional support perks plus the additional safe places/restocks is fantastic. I love the institute personally
Good stuff -- it's pretty impressive that you can do so much with all three factions, and STILL manage an ending where you don't blow the Prywden out of the sky or decimate the Railroad. I like :)
Dude thank you SO much! I've come back to this video over and over again, checking in on the quest line sequence etc. Finally, I have finished the main story questline in survival and have achieved this ending. So good!
So basically don't do Mass Fusion and get rejected by the Institute via the Brotherhood, lead them on, but don't do Tactical Thinking, skype the Institute data after Liberty Prime is complete but not activated, then take the data to Sturges and do the nuclear option after Defend the Castle. I actually got this ending by mistake (but I killed the railroad). I wanted to build Liberty Prime, but I gave the data to Sturges by accident. I found the MM ending to be the best arc for my experience. I may do the mod to keep the Institute or rebuild it. Not sure yet. I will save the Danse story to initiate war against the Brotherhood and send the Prydwin to the ground in ashes. The path forward in the Commonweath, will be productive and peaceful, until, I start the invasion of the Raiders from Nuka World, in which case I will play Fallout 4 for the rest of my life defending settlements and repairing damage, while grinding my way to level 2000.
Tbh, I hope it isn't. The B.O.S. in this game are militant raiders. Who force farms to offer food. The Railroad's goals are dimensionally opposed to the B.O.S. They aren't at peace, if the B.O.S. could find the railroad, they'd destroy them. The Minutemen under you might be at peace with the B.O.S. but the Commonwealth would have to deal with the flying airship seeking tribute. In Fallout 4, the Brotherhood a authoritarian militant force. Who would likely attempt to do what they did in the capitol wasteland. Consolidate resources and create another order-state. The Brotherhood of Steel are crusaders. And not the type to make peace treaties. The best ending for the Commonwealth and wider world be for the B.O.S. airship to fall. With Elder Maxson dead maybe a new elder would be less, fanatic
@@squidlytv In FO4 the BOS is a militant raiders with tactical thinking and technology, much like the Gunners which are organized militant raiders with tactical thinking and less techs, and as we know from Mac Cready's affinity mission killing 2 known Gunners members and clearing up their camp he'll say "For the Gunners, it's always about the bottom lines, they just lost this entire waystation and that cost them big" Now let's see what the Minutemen have : - Resourceful - Strength in number - Organized What the BOS have : - Organized - Tremendous firepower - Technologies - Knowledge and tactical thinking And see the difference between the two B.O.S seems to have the upperhand but despite all that pros let's see the ending between the two : - Minutemen can wipe out the most dangerous faction with the resources they have - B.O.S will need all the techs and Liberty Prime to wipe out the most dangerous faction in Commonwealth What the Minutemen can do : - Defending the people against all odds (MM settlement needs your help side quests) - Able to wipe the most notorious and dangerous faction in the Commonwealth with only the resources they have which aren't much and way less techs needed Now what the Minutemen will do : - Protect the people at the minute's notice If you do the ending like in this video or just side with MM all the way to Institute's destruction, the B.O.S will know what the Minutemen can do, and much like the Gunners, the B.O.S will have tactical thinking they're not all brawn, they will see them as a force to be reckoned with and a threat, they will think if they ever attack or if the Minutemen ever sees them acts like common raiders or gunners to the people of the Commonwealth (demanding ransom, stealing food, extortion for being in their territories) is just like poking a wasps nest, they lays hands on one settlement, almost the entirity of the Commonwealth will be down on them, and that will cost them big, just like the Institute for messing around with the General's son, BOS mess around with the people, the Minutemen will see this as a mission to protect the people at a minute's notice, and then there'll be explosions, and remains of an airship on the beach, and both have missions for the greater good of the people/mankind and the Minutemen already proved that, the B.O.S ever do any terrorizing act against the people many members might'll see this as a mission to secure all technologies and use it to terrorize mankind further and those who thinks so will detach from the ranks. And you know there's actually a cut content where Maxson can actually be replaced by Danse, sad that it's out, with it's in i think the peace ending among all factions except Institute might actually be the canon Absolutely sorry for pitching in this necro, lmao
@@acevace you're fine lol. See, I think that cut content was done for a good reason, the developers wanted the B.O.S. to be what we see. With very little wiggle room and only the beginning of a Young Maxsons crusade. There is no option other then Maxson's crusade or a destroyed airship. Which makes the ending more interesting and the future more uncertain. An Uncertain Future makes Fallout more... Interesting in my opinion.
@@squidlytv I've been struggling with which ending I prefer for a long time. On one hand, I think the BOS is evil and it would most likely be the safest for the commonwealth for them to be eliminated, at least short term. My only hangup with that is that I'm almost certain that the Brotherhood would realistically absolutely retaliate eventually, since they're not known to back down to anything. (At least this current era/chapter). I'm thinking that waging an all-out war with the BOS would juat lead to unnecessary death on both sides, and the thought of an even bigger, madder invasion force coming later makes me uneasy. On the other hand, I like saving the most lives, and this ending does that, not to mention it keeps the most content available. At the same time, though, the BOS could realistically invade Goodneighbor or roll up to the Slog one day, murder people and spark a retaliation from the minutemen. I'm not sure they would actually do that with the threat of artillery strikes getting dropped into their laps, but the threat is always there. Definitely a necro topic, but I started a fresh minutemen playthrough and I'm having a surprisingly tough time grappling with the morality of these endings lmao
If the signal interceptor was built with another faction, speak with Preston after being banished from the Institute to receive Inside Job, which allows you to retrieve the Institute holotape through dialogue. After being banished from the Institute, you can speak with Preston and tell him that you've become enemies with the Institute. He'll then give you Inside Job, which will allow you to speak with Proctor Ingram to retrieve the holotape with the Institute data on it. Give this holotape to Sturges to complete Inside Job. From there, you'll need to complete Form Ranks and set up enough settlements for the Minutemen. After you speak with Preston to complete Form Ranks, he'll tell you to respond to a situation at the Castle. Upon arriving there, you'll begin Defend the Castle. Do note that if you have already set up enough settlements, you can simply head on over to the Castle to begin Defend the Castle. Otherwise, you'll receive Form Ranks after being banished from the Institute. After Defend the Castle, you'll receive The Nuclear Option.
Noel The Last Dovah Duck Yes. However, completing Plugging a Leak (Institute) will make Tradecraft (Railroad) unavailable. I recommend completing Tradecraft, which will allow you to obtain the Deliverer pistol.
+mr.pigman 27 I'm glad to hear it! You can also unlock Bunker Hill as a settlement by speaking with Kessler. I did so after completing the main storyline, and was able to unlock it instantly after speaking with her at Bunker Hill.
+BreakfastLunchGaming in the list when you say "Accept and/or complete before entering the Institute" on Tradecraft do you mean that I can complete it right after The Glowing Sea(off the top of my head random quest) just as long as I complete it before I teleport to the Institute/ or right before I teleport I need to run to Deacon and complete it then go to the Institute?
Just wanted to say thank you, a huge thank you. I've always looked for a way to keep sides with the Minutemen, Railroad and Brotherhood but was never able to figure out a way. I finally got the ending I have been trying to achieve for so many years. Thank you, for such an in depth and clear video on how to make it happen. You have earned my deepest gratitude and respect. 🤙
I did it too, kinda, i messed up danses storyline and i am unable to get balistic weave so now i am trying to do it right, while also playing the hardcore beta..
Sebastian Chantre The game still treats Glory the same though, she's fine, but (spoilers) In Every Single Timeline, she ends up Dead. She's t he one constant in the entire g ame, she'll always die ... unless you do it the way this is. But even then, everyone will consider her "dead" and she won't talk to you again.
As did I. Obtaining this ending isn't that hard. Essentially all you have to do is be as "neutral" towards all three factions as possible. Join them all but advance slowly in each faction with some favoritism shown to the minutemen until the institute attacks the castle.
Thank you so much! Very clear, detailed and professional. I've completed the Brotherhood ending before, and founded myself with twisted morals. I find this ending much more rewarding.
To add more drama and become more empathetic towards Fallout 4's story, I usually go for my personal sad (maybe even worst) ending the game can offer starting off with the Railroad, then joining the Brotherhood as a Railroad spy, turn on the Railroad believing more in the cause of the Brotherhood, turn on the Brotherhood once Maxson kills dance, destroy the Institute with the Minutemen and finally the Brotherhoods blimp, leaving the Minutemen the only faction left in the Commonwealth. Just felt like the most tragic ending possible in the game but really makes you feel closer to the difficulties the Sole Survivor has to go through in the new world she/he finds himself in.
Here is how to do this the correct way Triple S and Derrick Gaming got some things right but they also got many things wrongs here is how to do it without getting anyone killed. Step 1. After you leave the Vault head to Concord and join the Minutemen and complete all their quest. Do Not Do With Our Powers Combined or you will be enemies to the Brotherhood of Steel. Leave Preston at the Castle until the final two quest you don't need to take him with you. Step 2. After Sanctuary and First Steps are complete head to Diamond City and recruit Nick and Piper to advance the story to Reunions. Do Not Go to Abernathy Farms and Stay Out of Finch until the Minutemen send you here triggering Returning the Favor and Out of the Fire will bring the Forged into the game you must have discovered The Castle and cleared it out before you do these quest. Do Not Start Vault 81 yet or do the quest Mysterious Meat or Devils Due stay away from Salem and Cambridge or you will trigger the Brotherhood and the Gunners and you do not need to bring them into the game until Reunions is complete. Step 3. Talk to the guard in Diamond City and Ellie to put Goodneighbor, Park Street Station, and Combat Zone on the map. Do Not Enter the Church! This will trigger Tradecraft and you don't need to bother the Railroad yet. Get MacCready and Cait leave Cait in Sanctuary and bring MacCready with you to clear out Park Street Station. Before you jump down the hole and enter the Vault give Mama Murthy her Jet and only give her Jet this will get you past Skinny Malone and Darla St. Cloud. Start Getting a Clue and give Mama Murthy the Mantats Do Not give her any Chems after this point or she will overdose during Hunter Hunted and we need her to get into the Institute. Step 4. Start Reunions and kill Kellogg this will trigger Reverie head to the Airport and talk to the knight to start Fire Support any Minutemen quest around Cambridge can now be started. Focus on the Brotherhood at this point and finish the Minutemen questline. Do Not Start Show No Mercy yet use the Minutemen to get inside the Institute. Step 5. Start Dangerous Minds and Vault 81 level Curie up. Once you are in the Institute complete Instutionalized. Do Not Start Tradecraft until you exit the Institute use The Brotherhood to get the data and the serum give the holotape to Stugus. Do Not Start any Institute Quest! they are evil and the only one you want is Dr. Li. Step 6. Start the Brotherhood questline and Tradecraft advance them to Liberty Reprimed and Boston After Dark. Do Not Take Underground Undercover or Tactical Thinking these quest will fail each other triggering Burning Cover and you will be enemies with the Railroad and the Brotherhood. Step 7. Start Spoils of War but fail Mass Fusion this will automatically get you Banished from the Institute. Step 8. Start Nuclear Option and plant the bomb evacuate the Institute before you blow it get all Synths out. Blow up the Institute and complete the game. This way no Synth casualties, nobody dies, and all Fallout 3 characters are saved and Liberty Prime is rebuilt. Only thing you do not do is Don't talk to Kells, PAM, or Desamona after the quest is complete or the war is back on.
+Papa Lord Yes, that's essentially it. Complete missions for each faction up until those points (Mass Fusion, Underground Undercover, and Tactical Thinking are the missions that you shouldn't complete).
I think I need a flow chart to follow this. It's a lot to keep track of when you don't have all the quest lines memorized. Even if you have a wiki page opened.
I made a simplified version for those who requested it. In the video, I go over only the most important parts of my playthrough. You can find it here: th-cam.com/video/dKpxViy-OzY/w-d-xo.html I hope it helps! Let me know if you have any questions.
This is just what I have been looking for. I only bought FO 4 this spring so am 2 years behind most players! I want to “major” with the railroad and the Minutemen but still wanted to play as many other quests as the story allows, because I like to experience as much of the game as possible. This is incredibly helpful and I will study it very carefully. I have subscribed.
I'm a little late to this series my brother said I should try the Fallout games. Thes is the first Fallout game I've ever played. he told me I should either play Fallout New Vegas or Fallout 4. I went for this game because I couldn't find a copy of New Vegas. but this information was really helpful because I'm at a conclusion where I can't figure out. this gave me the answer thank you.
I usually like to let chaos reign in Fallout games. Tried this for a change. Also, when asking Preston for help fighting the Institute, I feel like choosing to cite Nora's assassination instead of Shaun' kidnaping as a motivation for the destruction of the Institute would fit the character much better at that moment, but that's just me. Thanks for the guide by the way.
While I had watched fallout 4 playthroughs before I got the game myself, I never followed any guides or read any walkthroughs and didn't even know you could do this, and this is the ending I walked myself into after my first play through.
I’m going to point this out and before anybody gives this comment hate, this video is extremely well done and shows a really fun way to go through the story of fo4. This ending can be obtained at a MUCH simpler and quicker way. -get help from the minutemen in molecular level quest -help the institute until you get the quest battle at bunker hill -side with the railroad and help them at battle at bunker hill -give Father the reason why you failed the battle didn’t go into the institute’s hands (preferably choose the option “I let them go free”) -the railroad quest line will then fail and you’ll have to side with the minutemen -finish minutemen quest line to obtain the peaceful ending. Hope this helped!
This is an updated version of my Best Minutemen Ending video. After helping people with their questions and concerns by going back to my older saves, I discovered that it’s possible to complete nearly every main quest from each faction and reach a peaceful ending with the Minutemen. Timestamps, additional notes, links to related videos, and a list of all the main quests can be found in the description. Thank you for your support!
If I remember correctly, it has to do with speaking with Maxson after entering the Institute. He'll know that you've entered the Institute and will ask you to help. In my case, I can then retrieve the holotape from Sturges through a dialogue option and give it to the Brotherhood.
+mr.pigman 27 I made a note regarding how to progress further in the Brotherhood of Steel questline, specifically from Outside the Wire and beyond. I'll make a video about how to "jump" from one faction to another sometime in the future. For now, I hope that I made my note clear enough to understand.
Did u get the BOS ending? So did I. Not only it sucked, it made me kill Danse and kill the railroad and when I got that ending, I talked to Preston and he was mad at me. What I'm trying to say is the BOS are pieces of CRAP
DoritoBros. actually I got all the ending except the minutemen ending in 1 playthrough using different saves, and they all pretty much sucked in their own aspect. BOS killed everyone I liked, Railroad Killed a bunch of kids, Institute just bat shit crazy.
I realize that this video has been up for a few years but just in case someone is still watching... First of all thank you for all of your hard work and time to make and post. I have been following your guide (with DLC's, I have received radiant quests outside of the Commonwealth. One example is that my first BOS recon quest sent me deep into Far Harbor) I also mixed into a few other DLC quests along the way before entering the Institution. My problem is that due to a glitch of Kobayashi Maru proportion I was able to receive the Mass Fusion quest but I informed Ingram and started Spoils of War. I was able to get the card and continue with the BOS quest line. However, not only did it not make me an enemy of the Institute the game has continued the Institute quest line. The Minutemen "Defend the Castle" was an attack by Super Mutants instead of the Institute. So no Nuclear Option has been triggered. The Railroad wants me to ditch the Minutemen but are not hostile. I still get radiant requests but nothing in the main quest line although I agree to work with them fully then I probably could advance. So, as it stands, I could advance the main story with essentially any faction except the Minutemen or just have every faction coexist and Shaun stays alive. I also have access to all companions. This is certainly not a designed ending (well technically it is not an ending at all) However, it is working out well so far without mass murder.
Hey man, I just finished it using your guide on a new play through. Thanks for outlining it! Very cool. I'm glad I found yours, those triple s guys who made a guide leave so many quest out for no reason, and they have so many views, so many players forfeited a lot of quest. Anyways thanks again, you were very helpful. I have another institute character at level 134 I am still going to try and max out but this new character I am going to save for the new survival as I am only at level 32 w her. Still a lot to discover and do w this character so it will be perfect for the new survival and thanks to you I will have a large arsenal of radiant quests! Thanks!!
+Stephen Lapp You're very welcome. I'm glad that I was able to help! Thank you for being so active in the comments section! I usually dedicate some time out of every morning and night toward replying to comments. However, I've been working on assignments for the past week or two, and now I'm busy with final exams.
Okay some helpful knowledge. You can join every faction actually join and also when the railroad des ask you to join her instead do so. The min men will still be yours. But will allow the play to complete missions for the railroad. Like Randolph safe house and start underground undercover. Do everything for that mission up to talking with father who tells you to talk with Allie Fillmore for mass fusion. You will the be given the option to inform the BOS , if Liberty reprimed is started that's okay, after mass fusion with Ingram you can talk to her again and fin that quest. Doing mass fusion and Liberty re before joining the railroad and starting underground undercover you won't be able to get the quest burning cover and you will miss going to Cambridge polymer labs for the RR , and won't get A house Divided an Inst quest. I was able to back track and do this right. If you want this ending then going this route also works. I didn't know prior if I could side with the RR and if I.....
Would lose the Min men , but that's not the case. Just some helpful tips. If you ran into the same issue. I'm on Xbox one,so everyone knows. And since it doesn't hurt I'll have a similar video showing what I did and quest and info. Since there's so many ways to get to so many points but want the same outcome. Thank you for this video and tips. Always working together to help others.
+NastyJ Thank you. I've also added annotations (0:00 and 8:09) and additional notes for clarification. Essentially, the way in which I completed the main quests allowed me to reach the furthest possible point at which I could still be on good terms with each faction. I recommend making a save before being banished from the Institute, which you can later go back to and join a different faction if you'd like by progressing beyond Tactical Thinking (BOS), Underground Undercover (Railroad), or Mass Fusion (Institute).
About time I try this, my first ever ending was BoS and I never bothered working with the Railroad. My second ending was betraying both the Railroad and BoS and joining the Institute. Now years later I've been actively working with the Railroad and find myself really liking them, but I also like the BoS. This will really help with my "peacemaker" playthrough
Thanks for making a video like this. Currently on my 2nd playthrough with a Neutral approach on everything, so this helped me understand how some of my Good characters will be with the factions. It'll be interesting though during Defend The Castle because of how I setup turrets and 3 settlers have legendary miniguns.
This is the ending i ended up with just by playing through on my own. I was actually disappointed that I couldn't see Liberty Prime in action after all the work I did to rebuild and equip him with nukes.
This is, in my personal humble opinion, the best suitable video guide to the peaceful end of the story line. Accept my gratitude! Some may say that there are plenty of other - "better" videos and even mention IGN's detailed version of it, but I personally like this one way better as it is simple, short and concrete. Deserves a like, subscribe and a god damn ring bell. Keep up
Thanks so much for this! I was hoping there was a way to destroy The Institute while staying on good terms with all the other factions. I'll definitely use this!
I am happy to report we won the war! thanks for your help these all made it possible! time to help runaway synths and help the squires and field scribes! thanks again!
One of the funniest things is that I got this ending without even trying. And there were Railroad missions to rescue synths that were scattered all over the Commonwealth after the Institute were destroyed. And as I never advanced the Railroad quest line very far, Glory was still alive and walking around HQ. And multiple times Carrington and Des would comment "I wish Glory was still with us", literally as she was standing or walking right behind them.
I'm a bit late but I've done the first quest for the brotherhood and repaired sanctuary for the minute men. I'm up to the part in the main story where I'm in Kellogg's memories and I can't talk to the leader of the the minute men help! Also have a merry Christmas.
Legendary Gaming, It's a bug. I have it too. There is a fix you can use via console commands - it didn't wok for me, but from what I understand it does work for everybody else. Check out Fallout 4 Wiki, or type 'Preston Garvey bug' into the TH-cam search engine and videos will come up with the solution.
OH MY GOD THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR MAKING THIS VIDEO SO DETAILED!!!!!! SO I WON'T SCREW UP WHAT I'VE BEEN TRYING TO DO!!!!!! THIS IS THE PERFECT ENDING FOR THIS GAME!!!!!!! I'M NOW A SUBSCRIBER, THANK YOU SO MUCH AGAIN!!!!!!
My headcanon (unless the tv series tells us otherwise) is that this is the canon ending. As to how it happened in my mind the Sole Survivor (who had already freed Nuka World and had saved Arcadia and connected the railroad with Arcadia) was so disgusted by Maxson casually tossing aside Danse that he refused to help the Brotherhood further and launched the assault on the Institute with the Minutemen. The successful assault threw the Brotherhood plans into confusion and during this confusion and thanks to info from Danse a good chunk the Railroad escaped to Arcadia and Madison Li slipped away after sabotaging Prime. Without Prime and with the Minutemen strengthened thanks to the freed slaves of Nuka World and the Enclave tech shown in the next Gen patch the Brotherhood was forced to withdraw from the Commonwealth.
@@goblinfood9786 The more complicated one. Unless you are a fan of the Brotherhood probably not worth it. It's nice to have vertibirds late game in survival mode though.

For anyone who is wondering about how to receive Defend the Castle after being banished from the Institute, and how it leads to The Nuclear Option, I have a new video for it here: th-cam.com/video/vHLRV0C0zCM/w-d-xo.html A link has also been placed in the related videos section of the description above.
Can I still get this ending if I have received (not completed) the quest Defend the Castle before entering the Institute? (I haven't even been to the Glowing Sea yet) :)
TheDanishCatLover That is likely a different "Defend the Castle" that is simply a radiant quest similar to those that require the player to defend a certain settlement.
BreakfastLunchGaming Whoopsie, the quest I'm talking about must be Taking Independence - sorry about that! I haven't even been to the castle yet. :) Phew!
DerrickCGaming can you beat the game and then rebuild liberty prime? Without asking sturges for a second holotape.i can't do it but I wondered if there is a way. I've only beat the first bos mission where I become a member
They are also the only source of Railroad Stealth Boys, which are pretty great with Deacon's Perk. Also, The Deliverer is probably the best non-automatic stealth pistol out there in my personal opinion, though I suppose you can get it without actually joining. Lastly the paint job you get for the T-51 is sort of neat. All just a matter of opinion on my end, but the Railroad is a pretty good faction if you like a more stealthy playstyle.
I suggest doing covenant before finishing the game or you will not get the full story from them. Also I got banished by killing everyone in the institute even father, he respawns when you go back the second time.
+Skidaddle J Interesting. I've tried killing Father in another playthrough to get banished from the Institute, and he never came back to life. I will add a note regarding Covenant in the description. Thank you for telling me.
Just keep what you are doing. I search for videos to help with the game that I am playing at the time. Yours are good, so be proud of what you have done.
No, you're good. If I remember correctly, you just won't be able to inform Ingram during Mass Fusion, meaning you can't access a mission called Spoils of War, which is a fun alternate way of getting banished from the Institute.
When I was defending the castle for the Minutemen/Railroad from the Institute it said I failed the liberty prime quest. I'm not sure why? What happens with the BOS then?
You should still be on good terms with them. It's not necessary to complete all these quests. I'm simply showing that it's possible to complete nearly every main quest from each faction and still reach a peaceful ending.
One more question, is their any order you have to complete these quests to correctly do this ending. Like railroad then brotherhood. If so can you name the major ones I should look out for? THX again.
+The AmazingShark I can't account for every variation in the game, but I don't think the order will matter. However, ensure that you complete some quests with both the Brotherhood of Steel and Railroad before discovering the Institute. I received reports about the Railroad not trusting the player if he or she works with the Institute before having discovered the Railroad. I can't confirm this at the moment, but it seems to make sense.
+The AmazingShark The one area where the order might matter the most is the second method that I used to get banished from the Institute. As I said, Blind Betrayal must not be completed at that point.
Seems to me that this is the Canon ending of Fallout 4. I'll bet anything on a future Fallout game referencing all 3 factions thus confirming they all survived and found some kind of peace.
This is one of the first videos I’ve found that breaks it down as well as you. I haven’t tried it yet, but I imagine it’s gonna work. (I’m late I know)
I started playing the game again after 2 years of not playing. I just got really overwhelmed with all the damn quests & did the brotherhood ending. I was not satisfied after I killed off the railroad. I wanted all 3 to be alive even the institute, which I found out that it’s impossible. So thanks for the guide
This is the ending that gives the player the most even in after game, because like war never changes, the radient quests never end. 😅 I just hoped the ensings would reflect in the DLCs more, if you decide to play them after the end, like I do with Nuka Cola World and like I did with Far Harbour, which unfortunatelly makes no sense in some parts of the story, as I already deatroyed the institute before I chose to undertake the quest. I actually did the bare minimum of qiests to get to this ending, so I could focus on everything else and settlement building without feeling I was abandoning the seach for my son by spending an exorbitant amount of time looting, pilfering and hoarding half the commonwealth to build nice settlements for the Minutemen. Or helping just another settlement marked on my map, or put up just one more MILA...
The only reason I sided with the institute was for all the sweet armors you can get, "Intitute X-01" as a reward and a suit of "Sentinel" as well as Maxson's Elder Power Armor. I hope someone will make them available once console mods are released, I really, REALLY hate the institute.
Anderson Sousa Ahh, understood. Well hey, one of the great things about the game is you can play multiple times and is usually feels pretty new because of all the random events.
There is another "peaceful" ending where you destroy the Institute with BOS and Railroad still lives. 1. Complete all RailRoad quests from Tradecraft to Randolph Safehouse 6". 2. Complete all BOS quests up to Blind Betrayal and make sure you don't activate Mass Fusion yet. 3. Work Blind Betrayal but don't talk to Elder Maxson yet. 4. Complete Institute quests until you activate Mass Fusion (I built teleporter with BOS). 5. Talk to Allie Fillmore and get her to spill the details on Mass Fusion which gives the option to inform the BOS. 6. Inform the BOS (Ingram) who starts Spoils of War. 7. Don't get on the Vertibird yet. 8. Talk to Elder Maxson to complete Blind Betrayal which starts Tactical Thinking (aka kill Railroad quest). 9. DON'T TALK TO KELLS. 10. Get on the Vertibird and complete Spoils of War (starts Burning Cover, starts Banned from Institute, fails Mass Fusion, fails Underground Undercover). 11. Deliver Beryllium Agitator to Ingram which activates Ad Victorium. 12. Complete Burning Cover and any Minuteman quests to activate Defend the Castle. 13. DON'T TALK TO PAM. 14. Complete Ad Victorium (completes Defend the Castle). 15. Complete Nuclear Option (BOS).
Yes. Just ensure that you don't complete the final objective of Underground Undercover, Continue Working with Father, as that will require completing Mass Fusion with the Institute.
Just picked up the Game of the Year Edition with all of the DLC and this guide really helps. Unfortunately I didn't see this until I completed the main quest siding with the Minutemen, keeping in good with the BOS (and getting the cool helmet), and sparing the RR while destroying the institute. Not sure where I went wrong since I did all of the RR missions, probably too many, but got stuck on a BOS mission which made the RR an enemy, even though I never attacked them. Subscribed.

Am I still able to save danse if I please? I dont really want to lose the option of romancing metal boi.
Do u still get all companions @DerrickCGaming
So after this ending, I would be the general of the minuteman, an high ranked Paladin of the brotherhood and an agent of the railroad, and to all of them, a hero. Nice

Minutemen path to the end only opens up after you become enemies with the Institute, iirc you fail some other faction quests after completing Defend the Castle.

Dude thank you SO much! I've come back to this video over and over again, checking in on the quest line sequence etc. Finally, I have finished the main story questline in survival and have achieved this ending. So good!
6 years later and this method is still accurate. Thanks for the video
One of the best walkthroughs. Especially with the notes in the description
Thank you! That means a lot! I'm glad that I was able to help.
as soon as I heard this ending is in the game, I thought to myself "this better be the cannon ending."
@@squidlytv In FO4 the BOS is a militant raiders with tactical thinking and technology, much like the Gunners which are organized militant raiders with tactical thinking and less techs, and as we know from Mac Cready's affinity mission killing 2 known Gunners members and clearing up their camp he'll say "For the Gunners, it's always about the bottom lines, they just lost this entire waystation and that cost them big"
Now let's see what the Minutemen have :
- Resourceful
- Strength in number
- Organized
What the BOS have :
- Organized
- Tremendous firepower
- Technologies
- Knowledge and tactical thinking
And see the difference between the two B.O.S seems to have the upperhand but despite all that pros let's see the ending between the two :
- Minutemen can wipe out the most dangerous faction with the resources they have
- B.O.S will need all the techs and Liberty Prime to wipe out the most dangerous faction in Commonwealth
What the Minutemen can do :
- Defending the people against all odds (MM settlement needs your help side quests)
- Able to wipe the most notorious and dangerous faction in the Commonwealth with only the resources they have which aren't much and way less techs needed
Now what the Minutemen will do :
- Protect the people at the minute's notice
If you do the ending like in this video or just side with MM all the way to Institute's destruction, the B.O.S will know what the Minutemen can do, and much like the Gunners, the B.O.S will have tactical thinking they're not all brawn, they will see them as a force to be reckoned with and a threat, they will think if they ever attack or if the Minutemen ever sees them acts like common raiders or gunners to the people of the Commonwealth (demanding ransom, stealing food, extortion for being in their territories) is just like poking a wasps nest, they lays hands on one settlement, almost the entirity of the Commonwealth will be down on them, and that will cost them big, just like the Institute for messing around with the General's son, BOS mess around with the people, the Minutemen will see this as a mission to protect the people at a minute's notice, and then there'll be explosions, and remains of an airship on the beach, and both have missions for the greater good of the people/mankind and the Minutemen already proved that, the B.O.S ever do any terrorizing act against the people many members might'll see this as a mission to secure all technologies and use it to terrorize mankind further and those who thinks so will detach from the ranks.
And you know there's actually a cut content where Maxson can actually be replaced by Danse, sad that it's out, with it's in i think the peace ending among all factions except Institute might actually be the canon
Absolutely sorry for pitching in this necro, lmao
Well, the minutmen do have artillery batteries at the end of their questline, so it really is the 'cannon' ending.

As did I. Obtaining this ending isn't that hard. Essentially all you have to do is be as "neutral" towards all three factions as possible. Join them all but advance slowly in each faction with some favoritism shown to the minutemen until the institute attacks the castle.

Finally im not the only one!
Pretty neat. I’m going for a BoS faction playthrough, but I’ll keep this in mind for future playthroughs. Awesome work man!👍
so I basically complete all missions from 3 factions till I end up with them wanting to kill each other and then do the nuclear option?
+Papa Lord Yes, that's essentially it. Complete missions for each faction up until those points (Mass Fusion, Underground Undercover, and Tactical Thinking are the missions that you shouldn't complete).
DerrickCGaming thanks
Hi so do But no finishing he missions , do I just not the up to the location ??? How to I progress past not going to mass fusion etc
DerrickCGaming Thanks for this well explained guide
zac_ajentertainment Defend The Castle
I watch these even though I'll never destroy the Brotherhood of Steel
Danse means too much to me
I think I need a flow chart to follow this. It's a lot to keep track of when you don't have all the quest lines memorized. Even if you have a wiki page opened.
I made a simplified version for those who requested it. In the video, I go over only the most important parts of my playthrough. You can find it here: th-cam.com/video/dKpxViy-OzY/w-d-xo.html
I hope it helps! Let me know if you have any questions.
Man, those are a lot of settlements that needed your help.
But not enough because theres another one that needs your help. I'll mark it on your map.
And when he's done with marking your map, I'll follow suit and continue to mark your map for you.
Much appreciated, this is the ending I'm going for on my next playthrough when survival mode hits
Your brother sounds biased, you should try fallout 3 AND New Vegas
-get help from the minutemen in molecular level quest
-help the institute until you get the quest battle at bunker hill
-side with the railroad and help them at battle at bunker hill
-give Father the reason why you failed the battle didn’t go into the institute’s hands (preferably choose the option “I let them go free”)
-the railroad quest line will then fail and you’ll have to side with the minutemen
-finish minutemen quest line to obtain the peaceful ending.
Hope this helped!
I killed everyone in the Institute. Looted all the bodies I could before leaving and getting kicked out. Got a lot of loot.
Nice video man😎
+JUSTIN TIME Thank you!
If I remember correctly, it has to do with speaking with Maxson after entering the Institute. He'll know that you've entered the Institute and will ask you to help. In my case, I can then retrieve the holotape from Sturges through a dialogue option and give it to the Brotherhood.
Sturges will make a copy for himself.
+mr.pigman 27 I made a note regarding how to progress further in the Brotherhood of Steel questline, specifically from Outside the Wire and beyond. I'll make a video about how to "jump" from one faction to another sometime in the future. For now, I hope that I made my note clear enough to understand.
thanks, this is just the information I need for my second playthrough, after the first one Left such sour taste in my mouth.
Very informative, detailed guide. Best guide on TH-cam! Thank you. You deserve tons of subs. 🙃👍
Im so confused
About what. 😊
I also struggled to understand. But I figured it out.
***** No. You'll get it only if you perform an action that causes you to become permanent enemies with the Brotherhood of Steel.
***** The simplest way, in my opinion, is to kill Maxson.
***** You can then speak with Preston and begin With Our Powers Combined.
Thank you! Every single guide on this said not to do blind betrayal and I really want that perk
I did exactly what you said, and got the ending. Great tutorial man!
There should of been an option to build an alliance between the BOS and Minutemen.
Keep up
Thank you so much for your kind words and incredible support! Welcome to the channel!
Ive had to subscribe just due to how beautifully you've organised this
Thanks so much for this! I was hoping there was a way to destroy The Institute while staying on good terms with all the other factions. I'll definitely use this!
+Joey Redfeather You're very welcome.
Institute/Minutemen ending best ending
I am happy to report we won the war! thanks for your help these all made it possible! time to help runaway synths and help the squires and field scribes! thanks again!
Video worked. I finished the main game and friends with all three remaining factions. Thanks so much!! It's great having access to all their quests
You're very welcome! Glad to hear it!
What a detailed summary. I really appreciate it. Thanks
I found the minutemen ending the most satisfying one.
I'm a bit late but I've done the first quest for the brotherhood and repaired sanctuary for the minute men. I'm up to the part in the main story where I'm in Kellogg's memories and I can't talk to the leader of the the minute men help! Also have a merry Christmas.
Legendary gaming but, YOU ARE the leading the minutemen. so you can not talk to yourself?
Legendary Gaming,
It's a bug.
I've done several playthroughs this way. Easily my favorite ending.
Did you do the more complicated ending or just shoot someone in the institute during mass fusion mission?
@@goblinfood9786 The more complicated one. Unless you are a fan of the Brotherhood probably not worth it. It's nice to have vertibirds late game in survival mode though.
@@dragonscoils8149 I want to go the minuteman ending this time around. Thanks for the response btw :) I’ll keep that in mind whenever I do survival mode. I haven’t done that yet
Thank you, this really helped :D
For anyone who is wondering about how to receive Defend the Castle after being banished from the Institute, and how it leads to The Nuclear Option, I have a new video for it here: th-cam.com/video/vHLRV0C0zCM/w-d-xo.html
A link has also been placed in the related videos section of the description above.
Excellent guide, worked a charm. Thanks.
+UncleCal You're very welcome. I'm glad that I was able to help!
Nice to hear Tim Russ' voice as Captain Kells! Thanks for the video, I just recently started a new playthrough and needed a refresher!
I killed the railroad with the Brotherhood. The only good thing about them is the ballistic weave and caps for easy missions.
*and Elder Maxson's silk voice
Michael Haney Is it possible to destroy the Railroad with the Brotherhood, and still destroy the Institute with the Minutemen?
Joseph Perez i just hate how all meta builds are stealthy sniper/deliverer
Luke Parham yes
The minutemen look dangerous af after using a nuke 😳
I suggest doing covenant before finishing the game or you will not get the full story from them.
Also I got banished by killing everyone in the institute even father, he respawns when you go back the second time.
+Skidaddle J Interesting. I've tried killing Father in another playthrough to get banished from the Institute, and he never came back to life. I will add a note regarding Covenant in the description. Thank you for telling me.
Dude same. I killed father and for some reason he respawns back into his death bed.
I was an hour in to doing this ending when I realized I had to revert to an old save to go back and do the underground undercover quest first
Watching this video to know where to make a perfect save to get platinum in one playthrough
I manage to get the ending, thanks!
Thank you so much, it helped me. Only posityve reaction.
Thank you comrade
Oh Man! The level of detail of your information makes me think that you are a coder or electronic engineer; Thanks for share
Just keep what you are doing. I search for videos to help with the game that I am playing at the time. Yours are good, so be proud of what you have done.
Ah I completed blind betrayal. Am I screwed
No, you're good. If I remember correctly, you just won't be able to inform Ingram during Mass Fusion, meaning you can't access a mission called Spoils of War, which is a fun alternate way of getting banished from the Institute.
@@DerrickCGamingAh I really don't want to kill anyone in cold blood. Was hoping to squeeze as much as I can out of my play through.
i also had this issue, not sure if youre on pc but got around it by using console commands and was able to do the alternate way of getting banished
What command?@@pnkthetrapper6177
+BreakfastLunchGaming Thx once again and now I will get out of your hair. Bye and have a good one.
+The AmazingShark The one area where the order might matter the most is the second method that I used to get banished from the Institute. As I said, Blind Betrayal must not be completed at that point.
+BreakfastLunchGaming It seems complicated for that part so I think I will just shoot named scientists. Appreciate all this advice! bye.
(I’m late I know)
Doesn't he sound like daily dose of internet
I started playing the game again after 2 years of not playing. I just got really overwhelmed with all the damn quests & did the brotherhood ending. I was not satisfied after I killed off the railroad. I wanted all 3 to be alive even the institute, which I found out that it’s impossible. So thanks for the guide
This is the ending that gives the player the most even in after game, because like war never changes, the radient quests never end. 😅
I just hoped the ensings would reflect in the DLCs more, if you decide to play them after the end, like I do with Nuka Cola World and like I did with Far Harbour, which unfortunatelly makes no sense in some parts of the story, as I already deatroyed the institute before I chose to undertake the quest.
This video helped me a ton and I was so nervous I would mess something up
Used your guide many play thoughts. Love it
The only reason I sided with the institute was for all the sweet armors you can get, "Intitute X-01" as a reward and a suit of "Sentinel" as well as Maxson's Elder Power Armor. I hope someone will make them available once console mods are released, I really, REALLY hate the institute.
If I understand correctly, there should be a console command for the Institute paint at least.
+Joseph Perez yeah but I play on console.
Anderson Sousa Ahh, understood. Well hey, one of the great things about the game is you can play multiple times and is usually feels pretty new because of all the random events.
Anderson Sousa mod is called unconditional institute paint job for power armor
INSTITUTE IS THE ONLY WAY TO REVERT HUMANITY BACK TO PRE WAR.
Oxhorn approved
The ears in Fallout 4 look terrible.
Remi Stardust except Maxson's did you saw his ears
Cheers to you! I am going to do this on my next playthrough since right now I'm doing the railroad questline.
Does anyone know if you are able to receive this ending if you kill Kellogg before talking to Paladin Danse?
Jordan Kaltenbach yes.
I wish you could build up an alliance between the Brotherhood of Steel and the Minutemen and they both attack the institute.
I started underground undercover but i did not finish it am i able to still get this ending?
Yes. Just ensure that you don't complete the final objective of Underground Undercover, Continue Working with Father, as that will require completing Mass Fusion with the Institute.
BreakfastLunchGaming Thanks for the continued support of this video!
ThatKidWhoGames You're very welcome! I'm happy to help!
Subscribed.
Thank you for making this guide! I was successful in making every faction other than Institute happy with me
+Du N You're very welcome. I'm glad that I was able to help!
