It is pretty hilarious to see how easily Mikey gets riled up. But Ian’s got a point though, why leave yourself with a 20 to 30 foot putt when it just takes grabbing the next wedge up? 😂
@@swisstrader The pro at my former club did a wet test, only the balls were sprayed with water and the difference was definitely noticeable. Not sure about the clubhead itself being wet as it should never be an issue, just dry it like you said :P
Loved the wry smile Ian when you suggested 100 yards might be a bit of a stretch for Mikey🤔😉. Nice review guys, be really interested to see a wet test & also SM9 vs these 2👍
This is never mentioned but ping offers about 8 hand grinds for their glide wedges that can be applied to adjust profile and bounce. Many of which make them more versatile in fitting then even more popular offerings...
Guys, gotta comment every once in a while just to let you know how amazing your channel is, especially for my connections to where my attention should be when upgrading my bag. You all are amazing. Thank you.
Late to this, but what a great video. Love the comparison BUT love Ian and Mikey going back and fourth with each other. All that personal chemistry shining through! Rest assured, my fellow subscribers: It's even more vicious and more funny in person!
Thanks - love your vids. I have bought a Ping Glide 4 58T and I am picking it up next week. When doing fitting it was better than my old Mizuno MP R12 - which surprised me.
I play Glide 4.0 54 and 58 and I love them! I left my 54 behind at a sim place recently, and someone took it home. That Glide pro just looks sexy though...hmmmm
Lifelong player of Ping clubs here from Eye 2 irons to the current models, also numerous wedges - M/B, Tour, Gorge, Glide 2.0. But if Ping thinks I'm paying $279 (Canada) for a wedge they are sorely mistaken. The Glide 4 has to be one magical club to warrant a $70 price increase over the outgoing Glide 3.0 and a $40 premium over an SM9.
I found a 54 and 58 on ebay that were 9/10 condition for $150 each USA. I wasn’t going to pay $200 per wedge either but was willing to go the $150. Not a lot of them out there yet since they are pretty new but got lucky to find the loft and lie I wanted.
Thx, I just invested in the Pro 49S, 54S with a back grind, and 59S High Toe with half-moon grind. Trying to simulate my Artisans. These would go with the i59's which feel very solid/dense with a little crisp thrown in . The 4.0 look better in the vid than in photos. The elastomer probably gives it a very soft feel. Price? I've paid more for special Pokeys so this is actually less pricing and probably a better wedge. I like Vokeys but not the shape or grinds,
I’d like to suite these in to a set of i525. Current wedge shaft is Modus 120 soft stepped. Just wondering how that sort of setup might compare to the Ping stock 115
Picked up 3 new glide 2.0 stealth wedges to try coming from sm8 s. So far they are great. Im sure they are 8620 steel like these 4.0 instead of the stainless steel pings.
I game a Glide 3.0 52°. Play full shots with it, like the confidence in doing that next to my MP18 MMCs and then a bladed 58° A bit like the vid, definitely gives me confidence to swing it hard. Value, even if it is all in my head!
Would you review the new PXG 3x Forged wedge that was updated in 2022? I haven’t seen any reviews on TH-cam for this. I’d like to see how it performs compared to my current wedges. I’m between that and the Ping Glide 4.0.
Hi. I follow your channel for a long time because of your great content. I flew over from Europe to have a fitting at your place. I was realy looking forward to the experience having a fitting at your company. Trying to make an appointment for a fitting with your secretary Rachel ended up in an unkind telefon call making me feel unwanted. I stayed friendly at all times. But that makes my think about where to spend my money at. Pls keep on your great work on this channel!
I was very surprised that my PXG Forged 0311 wedge 54 degree traveled further with higher spin than the Ping Glide 4.0 even though my wedges face is chewed up. Could it have been the beat up simulator balls they use at pga superstore?
i've seen other fitting videos on other channels recommendin an extra stiff shaft for wedges to increase spin. Is this true, and if so why do you recommend lower flex shafts for wedges?
What i find odd is the comment about Titleist "dominating" wedges......Titleist is a wedge I rarely see in anyone's bag. I play with +3's to 25's.....cant think of one that has Vokey. Callaway, Ping, TM......
@@andy66l97 no, I want the 3.0 Really really liked hitting them. Loved zipcore too. I don't really want cavity back wedges I really like the 3.0s just need to stay patient hopefully they'll come in
Ping pricing is a joke, in particular their wedges. $250/wedge here in Ireland. Total joke. Not a chance in hell Im spending that kind of scratch on a single wedge. A piece of steel... Get real Ping. Mizuno T22 all day long
Maybe this is finally the sign that Ping will start caring about the sound their clubs make. Their current hybrid accidentally sounds great, whereas as usual, the Driver, fairway woods, and irons are all terrible in my opinion. Honestly, you are now going to have to make up an excuse not to buy these - pretty much a perfect off-the-shelf wedge for 85% of golfers.
Start caring about the sound lol? Sound and feel is subjective. I know a lot of people who like the sound of modern PING clubs. The G425 MAX could make a fart noise when I hit it but I would still play it because it is the most forgiving driver on planet earth. It's very hard to miss a fairway with it. Performance > sound all day.
@@kevinfletcher6956 Well, you may not care, but millions disagree and hate it so much they will never buy a Ping club - almost every review sites how bad they sound as an automatic caveat - so it's costing them massive sales for no reason. @@wallstreetoneil I think the numbers speak for themselves, and 10s of millions don’t care about sound or notice anything. I think you’re exaggerating the sound and how “every” review site says the sound sucks. It’s different, but their gear flat out performs. Turbulators are still on driver, because they work, making a largest impact on the longest club. Many others started skeptical and now prefer turbulators, leaning on them for alignment. G30, G400, G410 and G425 have done pretty well I’d say. To make something sound that much different I really think you would have to give something up. A company like PING doesn’t compromise for performance. Just not worth it when your mission statement is to let people simply play better golf through fitting and engineering. Designing a club that just sounds good but doesn’t perform is not a real smart business model. There’s also things you can do to improve sound like hot melt, if it really is a big issue. There’s also some evidence to suggest that carbon crowns have had some serious durability and quality issues. Not all grass is greener on the other side. Pretty wedge with the performance to back it up and premium components? Doesn't get any better than that
I would game the Ping wedges if it wasn’t for their funky shape. Might have to pick one of these up as a P wedge in the cavity back
