Aha! Been watching your videos for a couple of weeks as I get started on my sketching, and this is the first time I've spotted a scene I recognise! That first shot is a cafe I've sat in a few times. 😊
Thank you so much. I am in Pennsylvania, USA. I am trying to get loose. I had problems loosening up in high school, 1975-1977. I hope now that four decades have gone by maybe I can finally be loose. I love the buildings, tree and the sky. Moody skys are great!
Hey Toby- i and i think many newbies struggle with color- our drawing is ok, composition is ok, may e our sense of lighting is ok ie darks and ,ights, but when it comes to color, knowing what color to put where, and how saturated/strong it should be hue wise, we stumble terribly. Could you maybe think about a video walking us through color choices, why you choose them, and where to plop in pure color vs muted color?
Hello from Ukraine! I really enjoy your attitude to the art! Listening to you makes me less afraid and numb and just inspires me to paint and enjoy the process:)))So Thank you!!! P.S. Could you please tell me what is your fountain pen size? F?
Sorry Toby I meant to click the like icon and accidentally hit the ‘not like’. Was not my intention! Love your work which I have just discovered and have now subscribed!
Hello! Really enjoyed your live. I like seeing the effect of moving things forward and backward just with lines. I had an epic fail the other day because I wasn't able to capture the tree. So interested in what you had to say about that. Really enjoying your lives. But I'm in Aus so happy to watch the recording after. ❤❤
I really enjoyed watching you resolve the final sketch, and it's my personal favourite of the 3. Maybe it took you out of your comfort zone a little but it worked well!
Such a great live video. An hour very well spent. NZ time meant I had to watch the recording. Really enjoyed your reference to balance as I think it’s important for good composition. I’ve watched many artists who are technically skilled but they fail on the composition.
Great tutorials for those of us on a new journey into loose sketching...
Glad it was helpful!
It is so helpful to see you in action rather than having just a result. Thank you!
You are so welcome!

Oh my goodness, just amazed at the effect on the Mayan Blue with the green and turquoise. #sketch 3

Glad you enjoyed it
Thanks, Toby. I learn something new each time I watch your sessions. I'm looking forward to getting your book which I ordered
Sio
Awesome, thank you! Please let me know how you find the book 📖
Thank you so much for providing more specific information regarding ink. Very helpful. I have a pen and ink on the way.
Glad it was helpful!
Oh I just got my new TWSBI mini AL Diamond today. It's lovely to write/sketch with. My Duke and Hero pens are quite scratchy
Thank you, thank you

Yea F or sometimes EF, thank you for the complements! Sorry for the incredibly difficult situation you must be in 😞
@@TobySketchLoose thanks for the answer and support)
They kill us but we live and write poems and make art, you will see we win!
Hi Toby - what do you do with all your little sketches on loose paper? Do you stick them in a book...or do you just place then in a box?
I have presentation folders I tuck them all in to 😁
I especially like the colors in the last sketchbook

Hi! I’m here for a bit!
hear you loud and clear 😊
Yay I can see you... but that's not useful because it's 630pm in Australia. In about 15 hours later than you posted. 😂
Hehe better late than never
Your sketches always look more interesting than the reference photo.
Hehe that's the aim!
I missed the stream but it was still great to catch up on. I also missed the book! I don't know how. 😞
Oh no! I might do a reprint, keep your eyes peeled 😎
Also in NZ so watching the recording, would love to know what lines you would have added to give Tudor building more emphasis? Great demo 😊
Either just making it bolder or adding in lines to suggest those beams
Greetings from Germany and a question...if I book the free course, do I have to buy the next course afterwards or am I free to do so?
You don't have to do anything at all, you can just enjoy the free course
I use sharpie ultra fine point and I have not problem with water fastness
Thanks for sharing
Just found out about your book and I see it’s sold out :( 😢
I might be reprinting! If you're on my mailing list then I'll update on this soooooon
Enjoyed your livestream. Always great learning from other loose style urban sketchers. Would be fun to connect sometime. 😀
Oh yes, please! I love your loose style too!
Thank you! Cheers!
Are you putting the book on kindle?
That's an interesting idea!
Easier for NZ to buy
Line on walls?
Plenty color. It's done
Top view.
Thanks 👍
