    I own a Schecter Jeff Loomis 7 string, and that thing freaking rules, but ever since I heard this was the early Meshuggah and Morbid Angel guitar, I have been lusting after the UV70p.

    I bought one of these back in the mid 90s, it was easily one of the best guitars I'd ever owned. The neck was silly smooth and fast. Still miss it to this day!

    Hey man, I haven't read any other comments so someone might have already said this but I'll say it anyway - the volume level difference between your voice and the guitar is pretty stark, I kept having to ride the volume control on my monitors to make sure I wasn't too loud or so I could hear your voice. That's the only real note I have regarding your videos (or specifically this one really). Love what you're doing! Keep it up :)

    I’ve never owned a 7 string and after much deliberation research reading and watching, & just had my local GC order me this after trading my main 6 string a pedal and another cheap one got this model for under 700$, & I can’t wait for it to arrive !!

    • @kitoyobeni1
      @kitoyobeni1 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I had one too, but ended up trading it. I just wasn't playing enough 7 string material to justify keeping it. Today, wish I still had it. Whatever I traded it for is also long gone, lol. Man, I used to cycle through a lot of gear...

    • @torchlord11

      I still have my 1996 model as well. I've had a lot of the problems fixed (repainted new bridge, and putting a blaze bridge back in), and considered selling it a few times as I'm more into V guitars these days, but I think I'll keep it.

      an update to this comment, a few months ago back in September of 2020 I finally managed to save up enough money serving in the Army to buy one of these guitars brand new for about $1,600 and yeah its fucking worth it havent even had a chance to plug it into an amp yet and its already one of my favorite guitars along with my prototype BC Rich KKV from 2004 (has EMG-HZ passive pick ups and Floyd Rose tremolo with diamond inlays and black/white tribal, was discontinued and redesigned to be more like the actual KKV that Kerry plays so was only in production 2004-2006). Cant wait to plug in the UV70P and shred Cannibal Corpse/Cryptopsy covers on it while I'm on holiday leave for Christmas!

    You should do a video of the Blaze neck pickup in the bridge position. I've seen some saying it sounded really good for a bridge pickup but I haven't found any videos on this. I recently just moved my blaze lead towards the neck for a bit deeper tone and a bit less high-end.

    Been thinking of maybe putting a green pickup back in the bridge position of my 96 UV7BK. It currently has the D Activator in it, but this video kind is making me want to get it back to the Blaze daze for the bridge. I recently just had it re painted, and replaced the old corroded original bridge with a Ibenez Rules bridge.

  • @Thatlegalityburneracc

    The original green dots are AMAZING,I traded my one month old JP7 for a green dot from 1990 in an instant, being my ultimate dream guitar (yes,first run universe ,with the edge 7),and it's better than any guitar I've played,something about them is purely magical,especially with the pickups being 27 years old,they have weakened over time and they are just sooo smooth and creamy,incredible guitar.

    • @torchlord11
      @torchlord11 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      One thing I found out recently is the new Blaze pickups don't have a metal base plate like the original does. I have an original Green dot but after having microphonic bridge pickup it got replaced with a D Activator and the Blaze got the boot. I recently bought a new blaze to put back in my green dot guitar and there is definitely a different characterist compared to the two original remaining metal base plate pickups. Would love to see someone do a TH-cam Video on how much sound changes just from that metal base plate vs the current circuit board type base plates that are in the newer Blaze pickups.

    I've heard that fret roughness can occasionally be attributed to the humidity differences between the point of manufacture and the player's house.
    Idk if that's where the fret roughness comes from, but I thought I'd point that out.

    I still have my original green dot from 1996. I remember it was on backorder for 8 months. LoL I put a D Activator in it a while back and the guy rewired everything with newer pots and a switch. It was in rough ass shape the bridge was all corroded and messed the paint up when I dropped it playing rockstar as I pulled it out of the case one Halloween way back. I had it repainted and bought a new replacement bridge got from Ibenezrulez.com. Now I'm going to put a new blaze bridge back in and I have to re-pot the neck pickup. I realized that the demo songs I did with that guitar just couldn't be had without that Blaze pickup and no amount of tweaking amp settings was going to recreate that doom tone.

      You're going to laugh at how easy the tone is. This was Toontrack EZMIX2, the Metal Guitar Gods 2 pack, and I'm using Ryan Knight's rhythm tones and blending/panning to taste. That's it. As for tuning, I THOUGHT I tuned it to B standard? Maybe just lower than that.

    I was interested in what Arnold had to say about Ibanez. I'm unfortunately pissed at the company to put it lightly. I bought a Ibanez MTM 20 three years ago and am now determined to get rid of it. It has an Ibanez FX Edge III bridge on it that has been the bane of my existence since day one. The saddles keep wearing in way too quickly and thus form sharp burrs that snap your strings within DAYS. If it's not this problem, the blocks that are used to clamp down on the strings are extremely easy to break. Ibanez has done little to help me out with this problem. I got the guitar brand new and have never been able to enjoy it because of the terrible bridge design. Everytime I have talked to Ibanez, they just send me new saddles that wear out just like the old ones do and the cycle continues. The company has accused me of playing too hard (thus causing the burrs) to which I know this can't be the case because I have an Epiphone Les Paul that I can't even remember the last time I broke a string on. If it was my fault, the LP would have similar problems. I would honestly stay away from Ibanez but especially STAY AWAY FROM THE FX EDGE III BRIDGE AT ALL COSTS.

      It is/was Trey Azagtoth of Morbid Angel's guitar. It was colloquially called the "slime" guitar.
      If you listen to "Where the Slime Live" on the Domination album by Morbid Angel, I think you'll see he was paying more tribute to that.
      Also Nile has pretty unashamedly shown their Morbid Angel influence over the years. Not a knock on them but it's really apparent that they came up digging Morbid Angel.

    Is the neck close to the old ones? In terms of being slim? I really want this if it’s close to the old Japan models.
