I think she changed it to a low top because high tops are more expensive and probably doesnt wanna risk not profiting in case not many wanted to buy it with the high top.
Maybe time constraints while preparing for vacation? I would have liked to see both side by side lol. I also would have loved to see if she could have done proper zebra stripes. Wish you well
When you use a sparkly gold mica in cold process soap, it doesn't come out as sparkly gold. It comes out yellow, tan, or some variation like that. The shimmer is mattified. That's probably why she decided to alter the design. I don't think a muted yellow-tan would have been better than what Katie created in the end. Beautiful soap and yay for you pulling it off through that acceleration. I would have been panicking and just done a plop, drop, and stop, LOL! Hope you get some good R&R on your vacation.

Actually, when I first started watching her I thought her voice was “annoying”. Now it helps me fall asleep and maybe because I got to know her and her channel better, just always makes me smile. She has such an infectious personality. :)
First, you look great! Welcome back. Honey, that was some severe ricing! It was almost sushi grade. Well done on working with that uncooperative fragrance. The soap turned out beautiful.
Curious, it almost appeared to start ricing immediately, even before the fragrance was added. Did anyone else notice that just about as she split into the 3 color containers?
@@justthandie1285 I think what you are referring to is when the light hits the mixture of lye solution & oils. That is not ricing. I think it's just the light reflecting off the oil.

Miss B. She will not make any soaps that claim to treat or cure any conditions because then they would have to categorize their soap as a cosmetic and would cause a lot of headaches on their end. She mentioned that in her activated charcoal soap video To quote “we will not make any claims about our soaps other than they will get you clean”
The thing about making soap (or even lotion) is that none of us can claim it helps with eczema or psoriasis because then it's classed as a drug and that comes with a whole other list of requirements for selling 😁 However, I'd suggest if she has a soap labeled 'unscented baby soap' or you can find an Aleppo soap (make sure their ingredients state that all they use is olive oil, laurel berry/fruit oil and the standard sodium hydroxide & water [or whatever base liquid they've gone with] because if they add any other oils it's no longer Aleppo soap) - those should both be gentle enough not to mess with your skin.
Jasmine is such a difficult fragrance to work with! I made some charcoal bars yesterday scented with jasmine and they riced on me! They could almost not be salvaged 🙈

Katie, if you want the black and white swirls in the soap to be thicker. Don’t move when you pour the two colors into the mold. When you move you’re stretching the colors. This is why the zebra pattern turned out marbled. If you stay still and pour in one area , the color won’t stretch as far. 😉👍

I've been soaping for the past 9 years, and I'll have to say that I find it extremely difficult to pipe riced soap. And even if you do manage to get it all piped out the way you want it to be, it then separates causing the glycerin to run, and you are left with chalky crumbly tops. I think she just did the best she could do, It still looks great though! She managed to get most of the design! :) -Em, at suds by the sea

Is it like victorian gardens that used to have zoos in them or something? Maybe I'm just totally missing it, but that doesn't change the fact that it's a great design and a beautiful soap.
Evelyn Krull Mainly it was the fragrance that stood out to me! Jasmine is such a strong, beautiful floral and mixed with a blackberry it just completed the complicated combo of sun ripened fruit and home grown flowers. 💗
Ooooooh! That black and white with the gold on top looks amazing! ...though, those pastel layers seem a bit out of place.. and I don't really see the connection to this month's theme..

I really like both designs but the original one looked like it was going for a safari look, perhaps. Zebras and tall grasses :)

theres a french pastry called Mille-feuille that has that exact swirl pattern in a chocolate/vanilla glaze

I love the swirl pattern on top, it's one of my favorites. I think it comes out looking sort of like feathers, or like fern leaves.
