Yes!! Working with disabled artists, I'm hyper aware of all things that could go wrong in the environment cause people around me don't always have control over what their body does. I'm quick to point out "this is broken, we should move this for accessibility, someone could hit themselves on this"... I've cut myself with a freaking ruler last month cause I wasn't being careful, accidents are weird and can happen from really silly situations

Never apologize for hearing your children in the background. You are a not only a content creator not only a business owner but a mother. As a mother nothing is more enjoyable than hearing kids playing and happy.
I'm so glad you weren't harmed by this D: Just in case you ever need it: I'm a chemist and at least in the lab I'm in, if you get lye on your skin, the first protocol is to pour vinegar to stop the base (NaOH in this case) from reacting further. While it's not ideal to have it on your skin, it can save you from heavy damage ^^
Really? I'm also a soapmaker and every time someone has ever suggested to do that they've been shot down. Also every piece of information I've found during my own research says that it can be a suitable method for lye burns on surfaces but specifically says not to use it for lye burns on skin
@@HollyT95 I'm being honest, that is our protocol. First vinegar, then rinsing in cold water for a few minutes. I had to do it a couple times because either the glove teared or the lye spilled when pouring it, never had a problem or a burn. The thing is that lye on skin itches before it starts burning, and the fastest you react and grab the vinegar, the better.
@@foolishlyfoolhardy6004 I have been reading into that too, I would recommend water over vinegar. (and of course not in the eyes, that is another issue a lot more dangerous) It is the protocol, yes, it had been ever since I got there. But now that I've looked into it, I think it might be a little outdated (we are not in the States or Europe, so regulations are different) so I will talk about it tomorrow too. Thank you for the comment though, I really appreciate you took time to tell me this, even though I have studies in chemistry, I'm not too aware of first aid aside from the protocol of the lab and I like learning more about things in general
@@laevateinn4144 yeah the lab safety and first aid advice I've always received is with strong bases or chemicals remove any clothing it's gotten on from the skin(when applicable) and run water over it for like 20 minutes after you've finished running water over it stop and assess how bad the burn is and go from there. I think the big concern with using an acid to neutralize a base and vice versa may be the concern of them reacting and spreading(some bases react violently and spit and sputter when they react which could result in splashes of the base all over the place that you now have to rinse) the base or producing heat and then you have both a chemical and temperature burn to deal with
Thats the PPE I wear for candle making too. Goggles, mask, apron, sleeves, gloves, hair net, clksed toe shoes and shoe covers. I cannot stress how important PPE is.
I honestly don’t think most understand that candle making can be just as dangerous. I’ve never been burned due to the PPE(I admit that I am klutzy) yet that won’t stop me from doing what I enjoy. I make sure animals are out of the room and kids are adults so I don’t worry about them.
Oh I was looking for the whole mold to fall ❤ so it wasn't too bad Katie! Yes though love your advice about safety u always tell us!! It turned out so good!! Glad to see another video!
I was blending soap one day and it splattered and landed on my safety glasses, it would have hit my eyeball had i not been wearing the glasses. So absolutely! PPE is important! Great learning experience for new soapers as well! Glad you didn't get hurt.
I just came home from a local comic convention and while there I meet a soap maker and we had a wonderful chat about how Royalty Soaps inspired them to start their own company and then I came home and saw this! A truly royal day!
I spilled half an ounce of fragrance oil today and I was UPSET… can’t imagine spoiling that much batter. Thanks for always being willing to share the good and the not so good. Also, if you have never had lavender lemonade, I highly recommended it!
Fun fact, if you go to a "sit down" "full-service" "table service" restaurant that has fruit infused lemonade they normally use a syrup to flavor it. If it is to sweet for you, you can ask them to cut the syrup in half. I normally get strawberry lemonade and I have to ask for the strawberry syrup to be cut in half.
There's not a name for this. I used to be a bartender, which in some places includes non-alcoholic drinks. Just be sweet, which you are, and let them know you're ok with less syrup. It can mess with some servers and bartenders if they're new, but it's easy once expectations are explained. :)
I know it's no consolation, but there's a first time for any mistake, and yes, it does really rattle you. I'm glad yours didn't involve physical harm, which is a huge plus point. I'm 60 in a couple of months and I've been sewing since I was 5, often on heavy duty industrial machines. I bought myself a new industrial machine as my previous machine was struggling with some projects. Two months later, I managed to sew my finger into the bag I was making. I've never done this before but I wasn't paying attention and it happened. Right through the nail as well. So it's not just a beginner's thing but it happens even t9 the very experienced!
What about an imperfection soap? with colours you dont usualy use together, special mix of fragrance and a random inbed ? in a small mold? would love to see that ❤
Glad you were okay, Katie! The previous raspberry soap with the little raspberry embeds remains my favorite fruit soap, but this one is cute too ❤Put in an order for the entire collection just a few moments ago, so I'll be set for a while 😆
My husband and I LOVE your soap!!! I bought a bunch back in 2020 and 2021 so it took us a while to run through all that soap. We ran out about a year ago but our financial situation didn't allow us to purchase any from you. We have been using one from the store but our skin isn't as nice and we would run through the bars super fast! Well, last night we were able to make a large purchase from you! We are both super excited to get your soap again! Thank you for making an amazing product!!!
Thank goodness you are okay, Katie ! 😮 You did say just before this happened that you felt rushed. Your community cares so much about you 😢Near misses are lessons never forgotten & this incident may have saved the eyes, skin of how many viewers, Katie. Thank you for your humility & for sharing this footage xxx
There's a video of a girl here on TH-cam that was making soap and I believe had a soap volcano happen and now she's nearly blind and she even had safety glasses on (not sure what kind)! PPE caution is so important. Just because the soap is pretty doesn't mean it's not dangerous. This is such a good reminder when it has happened to you even after all these years making soap!
As someone who works with resin, I always make sure to wear PPE. You never know when something will go wrong and if you get it on you, the damage can be awful. I've had a similar accident with resin and had to make sure everything was cleaned down completely and there wasn't any stray liquid anywhere. Glad you're okay and everything worked out in the end, the soap looks incredible! I am a huge fan of strawberry lemonade. Mix it up as a slushie and it's delicious.
I miss your videos about your maker questions. Your QA has been a long time since we got one and a tour after your move back to the cottage! You inspire us small makers! 😊❤
So glad you’re safe! I really appreciate you taking the moment to talk about safety and show that accidents can happen even if they’ve never happened before. For all the trouble it caused, the soap turned out really cute Blackberry lemonade is definitely my favorite. I can’t decide between blackberry mint and blackberry lavender though
Honestly, that hefty love tap made the coooolest side effect on your drip swirl!!! So so glad you were wearing your PPE - and of course, that ya took us along on this adventure! And my fav lemonade is either strawberry basil lemonade or raspberry 🤤🤤 If you grow basil in the summers, making lemonade with it is NEXT LEVEL!! 🙌🙌🙌
PPE ALWAYS! Yes!! Os yes a packing video would be great, also can you do a new studio tour its been forever would love to learn how you expanded and those hard choices you made growing pains. thanks for being a pillar of inspiration and for giving us a platform to grow !
Safety googles are the one piece of PPE I will never make soap without. I find if I get soap batter on my skin I can rinse it off quickly with lots of water and avoid getting burned so I might soap in short sleeves when it's really hot out, but I'm not taking any risks when it comes to my eyes. One time I did have soap batter splash onto my googles and I was beyond glad I had them on.
Katie! I'm so excited you're planning to make more instructional videos! I've made cold process soap a few times now and I learned everything from you ❤ But I keep having the same problem - my soap batter thickens SO quickly! I've never been able to do a drop swirl because the batter just gloobers right away. I've tried tweaking the water content and temperature of my recipe but it keeps happening! It would be great to hear you do some troubleshooting about common soap challenges like this. I love your channel and your designs! Keep up the great work! 🎉❤❤❤
I just left a soap group on fb because the admin kept saying that she never used goggles or wore long sleeves. She made a joke of it. I got tired of seeing the stupidity and there were new soapers in that group who were getting dangerous information. My fav is lavender lemonade !
I don't make soap, but I do work with glass regularly and we've used a thicker glass lately. Never been this grateful I always wear eye protection cause there were bits flying everywhere while I was grinding down a piece. Our usual fusion glass doesn't behave like this, so I was surprised. You just can't know when an accident will happen, it could be way worse than you're used to!
It's so wild that you dropped a batch too. I dropped about 5 lbs in a pot on the floor Wednesday night, covering my face, arms, and kitchen. I'm really lucky to not be blind right now.
Side note, I get covered in batter all the time, and the biggest hazard is slipping. It takes a decent amount of time to actually get burned. It's pretty uncomfortable, but it really isn't a huge deal.
I would love a video where you show us the complete process, with all the waiting times. I wouldn't mind if it was five hours long, I would gladly watch all your content Katie! I can imagine a video with the pov view with go pro or from a wide angle looking at your entire space. Being able to see that way, how you arrange all your stuff, how long it takes to blend the soap and how long it takes to firm up, and being able to see what you do in the meantime. You could perhaps narrate it, or tell us with Caleb about details and suggestions, or even just lofi music....
I'm glad you were protected the spill! It's such a cute soap :) I made sure to pick up a couple of soaps from this collection (my first actual soap purchase, my other one has just been scrubs!!) And I loooooooooove lemonade, but I go wild for a good peach lemonade. 🍑🍋
I just yesterday had an accident! I was working with my 5 gallon bucket of granulated lye!!!......... Well the lid was not on tight! So it has a crust over it I laid the bucket sideways on my work bench, well praise God I had all my PPE ON! I had a chunk break of and flick lye all over the work area!! I stoped and jumped in the shower lye was all over my clothing and my face I had goggles on but got my lips and chin! I got off fast but also where my gloves stopped and my long sleeve came to get her got burned pretty good! I need to find some of the sleeves I see people wearing!! This is my first oppsie and it was a doozie!! I'm glad you shared with everyone I love your video on safety you made it fun but to the point for all to understand!! I've only been soaping 4 years but bing watched you in a few months then started soaping!! Have a great week!
My first batch of cp soap...i took off my goggles cuz i was sweating...and then accidentally splashed raw soap into my left eye. Had to wash it with vinegar...which burned more than the lye. So of course after that...i bought a full face shield....and wore goggles until it arrived.
😮 I hope your vision is OK. That's insane. I wear eyeglasses, I swap to the safety glasses, but then I can't see when I am done mixing the lye water and switch back to my normal glasses. Makes me nervous!
I was legitimately just the other day thinking about how i saw a soapmaker not wearing any sleeve ppe and hearing you talk about the importance of ppe (and using NaOH/solvents/assorted chems at my job). Thank goodness you're ok! And a plus that the whole batch wasnt ruined. Good on you for removing yourself from the situation to calm your nerves and system back down 🫂
Seeing you ad TD to that yellow somehow makes me want an Uber vibrant rainbow soap. Use the reddest red, bluest blue, etc. would probably be garish as heck TBH, I’m just curious how bright some of these colors get since you often tone them down with white.
Katie, can you do a video showing us how you make custom embed molds? I know it must be a ton of work to make these molds and subsequently 100s of embeds.
HI KATIEEEEEE ✌️😎 GHURLL I have a suggestion for a soap design! I think it would be really cute if could make a tanghulu inspired soap! Like imagine fruit embeds glazed with clear Melt and pour soap! Or likeee a Japanese Fruit Sando Sandwich inspired soap! Also lovee you and your content ghurlll thank you for being a pillar of my will to live during tough times!❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
Everyone’s worst nightmare. But it does happen. One time I slipped and ended up with soap on my face mask and I was so grateful that I wear full protective gear. The soap burned the mask so bad I had to throw it out but my face was fine. Yikes. Good video for soap makers to see. Glad you shared it!! ❤
Idk if it's the wrong time of year for it or if you maybe just don't have the time, but if anyone over at 👑Royalty Soaps wants my two cents, I would love to see Katie do the like soap maker challenge/course thing. I've looked for the video but had some trouble finding it so hopefully what I'm saying makes sense. I remember Katie doing what I think was called a sort of scalloping technique and just really pushing her own boundaries as a soap maker. I really loved watching her go a bit outside her comfort zone with super challenging techniques😊
If you are going to have a spill that Raspberry Lemonade is the one to do it with! It's a very slow mover and one of my top choices for when I need a fluid batter. Have you tried NG's Watermelon Lemonade? It's also a slow mover and smells divine!
Black cherry lemonade is my favorite! There is a Black Cherry BOMB fragrance oil that Nature's Garden makes and it me melt. It smells like a cherry slushie in the best way ever.
Very rarely (because it’s so time consuming) my husband & I will make lemonade from scratch. One time we blended it with ice & made lemonade slushies & THAT was my all time favorite lemonade 😋
Accidents can always happen! You do all you can to prevent it, but gear up just in case it does. I should know, I ride a motorcycle (all gear, all the time). Does limeade count as lemonade? Cause limeaid is my favorite.
I could tell Katie was already having a bad/clumsy day because she splashed a couple of the other colours before she dropped anything. It really does happen to everyone eventually & I’m so glad no one was harmed because of their precautions
Ooohhh noooo!😮I learned how to make soap watching your vlogs and shorts. Now that I’m knee deep and understand how much the ingredients cost, this would’ve sat me down for a while 😂 I would’ve had to reconsider making and selling soap 😂
Ingredient cost is cheaper than $600! It would have cost me $600 in potential revenue! haha I think I may have worded the title in a confusing way... lol
@@RoyaltySoaps I don’t want to lose $600 either way🤣😂 I’m a newbie, I’m using failed batches for my lifetime supply. I don’t ever plan on buying soap again🤣
While I'm glad you were still able to save the batch, I'm just relieved you didn't get hurt. It could've ended a lot worse had you not been wearing the PPE. Hopefully this will show other soap makers and artists who work with hazardous chemicals that you cannot just skip out on PPE
I had a rose quartz stone fall in a full $ store white bowl. Stick bled sounded rough. When I picked up that bowl a golf bowl size hole and the batter poured out other bowls below counter, dripped flowed down cabnits my jeans feet & floor. A disaster. Very glad I had my feet covered. My biggest disaster ❤
@@ST-vt4nu when a couple of the Quartz stones I was showing off dropped. I did not realize one fell in the bowl. When I stick blended it made one louder sound only. Older blender ignored. The hole had to be made. While the bowl was flush on the counter the batter staid inside the bottom rim. When I picked it up to pour it came flooding out quite quickly. I was on a live I really couldn’t believe the extent of everywhere the soap went. Inside silverware drawer. I had new cabnits stained not yet finish coated. An island we added. It was a mess.
Last time I ordered from you, I cut the bars into thirds. It was a couple of years ago now and I still have some😂. My dad’s favorites were Campfire and another orange one. They take off tractor grease better than Gojo❤

My favorite lemonades are blackberry mint and cucumber basil.
I'm glad you were protected the spill! It's such a cute soap :) I made sure to pick up a couple of soaps from this collection (my first actual soap purchase, my other one has just been scrubs!!)
And I loooooooooove lemonade, but I go wild for a good peach lemonade. 🍑🍋
Do you have any packaging videos? I love watching those
I just yesterday had an accident!
I'm glad you shared with everyone
I love your video on safety you made it fun but to the point for all to understand!! I've only been soaping 4 years but bing watched you in a few months then started soaping!!
Have a great week!
The fragrance descriptions is very convincing ❤
This is really cute and I like strawberry lemonade 🥰🥰
It’s ok life happens. You kept going and that means a lot
Good on you for removing yourself from the situation to calm your nerves and system back down 🫂
mango lemonade is my go-to! but really any lemonade is good to go in my book!
Any Lemonade, Lemonade is delicious.
Seeing you ad TD to that yellow somehow makes me want an Uber vibrant rainbow soap. Use the reddest red, bluest blue, etc. would probably be garish as heck TBH, I’m just curious how bright some of these colors get since you often tone them down with white.
I think she made something like that in the past, smelled like fruity pebbles.
Katie, can you do a video showing us how you make custom embed molds? I know it must be a ton of work to make these molds and subsequently 100s of embeds.
Ooh I had some raspberry lemonade today from the Olive Garden and it was perfection!
Wow, most people make soap on a rope. You make soap on the floor....lol. Thank you for sharing your wisdom with us. It is so appreciated.
I ADORE those pinks!!!!! 😍😍😍
HI KATIEEEEEE ✌️😎
GHURLL I have a suggestion for a soap design!
We have all been there, deep breath, carry on!!
Thanks for showing PROOF of why safety is key. Ooh. Safety is key! Wear your PPE!
That yellow is bright!
Love you Katie! Really! I watch you and you lift my spirits.
I love lavender lemonade :)
I’m curious, for uncured soap how would you go about cleaning up spills like that?
The strawberry lemonade at Chili's is delicious!😊
Blackberry lemonade is definitely king! We have a ton of blackberries locally and it's such a treat to enjoy them as a drink
Beautiful soap
How do you clean spilled soap batter? Does the lye damage your floor or table? What cleaners are safe to use around lye?
Well done for getting up from that and getting back on that soap shaped Horse Serious admiration for your professionsum and determination
If you are going to have a spill that Raspberry Lemonade is the one to do it with! It's a very slow mover and one of my top choices for when I need a fluid batter. Have you tried NG's Watermelon Lemonade? It's also a slow mover and smells divine!
That's starburst soap. Fight me besties lol
No need to fight, you're right! hahahaha
@@RoyaltySoaps 😲😲 hi! Fell free to take that idea 😃
Lol when I was a kid I would roll out my different starburst colors and twist them together. This looks exactly like that
Black cherry lemonade is my favorite!
I love cucumber lemonade and strawberry lemonade 😋
Ooohhh noooo!😮I learned how to make soap watching your vlogs and shorts. Now that I’m knee deep and understand how much the ingredients cost, this would’ve sat me down for a while 😂 I would’ve had to reconsider making and selling soap 😂
I recently started to sell only because someone other than my family actually liked it😂@Izzylovesdogs2024
I’m not official just yet
For the Question of the Day: I really love the watermelon lemonade from Weinerschnitzel! It tastes just like watermelon sour patch kids.
BIG PPE WIN
Wait how did the hole get formed? I feel like im missing something?
4:10 The raspberry lemonade after I drank it mixed with vodka be like~
