Glad to see it's not entirely creator centric like so many DC omnibus editions tend to be. IMHO, a comprehensive run by issue number/era is preferable to creator designated volumes that leave orphaned issues and stories.
They're definitely appealing to readers like me that jumped on in 2011. What with this and the upcoming Swamp Thing, Batgirl, and Tomasi/Gleason Superman omnibuses. I'm a big fan of this series and have enjoyed the re-read so far. Such a great example of modern comic art.
The first story arc was great with him returning to the circus and having a mini romance with the girl he grew up with but the series started to lose me with the court of owls stuff. Dick Grayson has always been one of my favorite DC characters so I stuck with this series all the way to the end but overall the first and last story arc of the series were the most enjoyable.
Good review, Omar! Seems like that style binding is the DC standard these days. Noticeable with the newer comic runs that have more edge-bleed and splash-page art, not as noticeable with older runs that had more white margins.
Jumped on this Omni as soon as I saw it was available, but knowing that your a Nightwing fan and the lack of enthusiasm during this video, kinda think it will be a while before I read it... on to the pretty Omni shelves it goes.
I can’t wait till my copy comes in ! Super excited to do a readathon with this and the Grayson omni ! Thanks Omar for another great vid ! I hope we get a chuck dixon omni !
I love Nightwing and I like the New 52 run on him. I got this Omni the other day and it's beautiful. However, my binding was super tight which made it a little difficult to read to. Great review!
This one didn't make the cut for my precious shelf space. From what I've heard the story is fine but just fine stories will be read on DC infinite. I'm more excitedmfor the new 52 swamp rhing and batgirl omnibus.
These videos are beyond helpful for me. I enjoy reading comics but prefer the OHC and Omnibus format so it can be easy to get lost as to where newly released books fit in. I just picked up the Grayson omni, but am going to wait to start it until after I can get my hands on this one. Thanks Omar!
Buying this, even though I have most of the issues, in hopes they print a Chuck Dixon/ Scott McDaniel Nightwing Omnibus. Was Greyson good? I'm not a fan of Tom King's Batman run...
Kinda wack it doesn’t have the cover art for each issue. Would’ve been pretty sick, but still adding to my wishlist and looking forward to a knight in bludhaven too!
My copy is coming in later this week, was so excited when they first announced a nightwing omnibus, and can’t wait to read it. Great video as always btw👍🏼
You gotta finger that hole and push arch that spine mate. Its not excess glue, its just tight binding that needs to be stretched and broken in. Prevent the pages just falling out later on. Most of the omnis I get, especially from Marvel, I need to fix with binding glue because there isnt enough and the page block is falling off the ribbon.
@@NearMintCondition better ton use your finger and apply pressure, it spread it over the entire arch. Ruler i find can create to great a focal point. Finger works, like a physiotherapist for your your book.
Nightwing is easily my favorite dc character but god I hate that red outfit. I'll pick this up eventually but they should have went with dixon or even rebirth.
I aaaalways have a problem when Joker can get the upperhand on Dick Grayson and all the highly trained Bat family and I am not a fan of Scott Snyder. But I will get this from Amazon if it drops to 63 bucks like the Cliff Chiang WW Omnibus. Great video ma dude ✌
New Fifty-Poo. Bizarre choice, but whatever I'm sure it will sell. I think they canceled the first thick trade of Devin Grayson's Nightwing run. Thank god they got all of Dixon's run out there. Now if only I could say the same about Robin and Birds of Prey...

I’m still debating on buying this. It wasn’t an acclaimed run to say the least but for some reason I want it but with all the Omnis coming I cant tspend too much. Man, what should I do???
@@johnnieriot13 I know I'm replying to a 4 month-old comment lol, but I'd say skip as well. If you want to read the issues, you can always sub to DC Universe and read them all on there. Hey Omar I actually just found a comic book store in Canada that has a copy of this. Just bought it for 20% off plus free shipping….yahooo! Jeff from Canada PS - It must feel good for you to be helping so many people with your videos.
I really enjoyed this run. I’ve only gotten up to the third trade so far but I’m really diggin’ it. I’ve always enjoyed Nightwing books, the limited books I’ve read at least. And this is one of my favourites. I actually think the New 52 did the bat family justice. I loved the Red Hood omnibus and am eagerly awaiting a volume 2, the Batman and Robin omnibus is amazing, obviously Scott Snyder’s New 52 Batman run rocks. The Batman Inc. run, Gail Simone’s Batgirl, both great. JH Williams Bat Woman is good, at times great. The Grayson Omnibus is brilliant. The Harley Quinn Omnis are a load of fun to read. What else can you ask for? We all know the New 52 could have been tighter, had more cohesion and direction. But overall it was very good. It’s on the receiving end of too much hate. I think this is more of a contagious aethos than an actual disdain for quality.
I wanna get this, but I’m so far behind on everything, trying to focus my spending money on x-men and core Batman stuff right now, then I will seek out the extended Batman stuff.
What's the run you'd recommend, Omar? I really like Nightwing, and I am enjoying the current run and want to read more. What's the run you'd prefer they would have compiled?
I love the look of this book! Not really a Nightwing book I wanted so I probably won’t but it.. but I loved the review, Omar! Thanks as always. Algorithm gang!
Great video as always! Probably going to get this. I remember really liking this run. I thought a lot of the New 52 was cool. Especially for the Bat-books. I got the Grayson omni and I really didn't like the story. That's weird because I love Tom King. Take care man!
@@NearMintCondition that seems like a significant missed opportunity especially following the Morrison run. I'm interested to see the route they went and then consider how it could have went.
Just want to say, I love your description of Death of the Family. I’d totally pay for an actual issue where the Joker and the Batfamily just straight up had an awkward family reunion-type dinner together. 🤣 Unfortunately that’s not quite what we got (but it’s a great story).
Is this collected in deluxe hardcover edition? I saw that there were the three deluxe edition Nightwing rebirth books. I was unsure if they were the same as this omni.
Because even if he's the King of Bludhaven, he is still the rightful prince of Gotham. Grew up in the city and spent half his life defending it so he earned it imo🤷♂️ I see why it would sound weird to some, however.

Shame they didn't include the alternative issue 30 art, Meghan Hetrick finished the issue before it was redone, it's all online, but would have been a cool added bonus feature
I got this after watching your video. So sad the only good art is from Greg Capullo and Brett Booth. I wish they drew the whole book. Those 2 made this book special. Not sure DC's thought process when hiring artists.
@@NearMintCondition those 2 saved this omnibus. Its tough when Jim Lee, Marc Silvestri, Michael Turner, Brett Booth, J. Scott Campbell, Greg Capullo, Todd McFarlane, Jorge Jimenez, or Whilce Portacio aren't drawing everything. I seriously question what DC does sometimes when contracting an artist.
Uncanny Omar, it seems that while there are some well-made DC Omni(s), Marvel is more consistent with the quality. Not putting the issue numbers on each story, the book closing in 100 pages to the end, the gutter loss of the two-page spreads, and even putting the word 'Omnibus' on the front cover like they did with this one (and with my Deadman Omni that just arrived) - kind of disappointing given how much we pay for these things (I think the word omnibus looks best just on the spine). The Superman/Batman had a table of contents in the Omni but not even page numbers or issue numbers in the Omni. Just venting. Also, this Nightwing story is pretty inconsequential and boring. I would have picked something better. The best of the New 52 was the Snyder/Capullo Batman and the the Chiang Wonder Woman. That's about it in the grand scheme of things...
