From Ed Brubaker's newsletter: "My old friend Marie Javins is the EIC of DC Comics now, and so when I found out they were doing a new printing of the GOTHAM CENTRAL OMNIBUS, I asked her if we could finally correct the minor errors of the previous reissues. Since Marie is the best, she let me and Greg Rucka and Michael Lark proof the new book, and we now finally have a DEFINITIVE Gotham Central hardback. Including the missing layers of snow from the first chapter of our big Joker story. This book was done back in the old days, and Michael had made an actual separate layer for the falling snow and while it printed in the single issue, it somehow got left out of all the trades and hardbacks until now. (Also a few lettering mistakes were fixed this time, and a joke that we couldn't get past the censors back then has been added back in because it's 20 years later). Seriously, as a total control freak about my books, it drove me crazy for years that there's a scene where Driver is commenting on the snow fall and even holding out a hand to feel it, and there was NO SNOW. Now this is fixed and I am a happy camper. Plus it was fun to read it all again, I think Gotham Central was ahead of its time, really (we started it before The Wire was on TV but we were highly influenced by HOMICIDE, David Simon's book from the 90s). "
I read that this morning. I’ll be honest I recorded the video Monday and didn’t notice the snow lol, but I did notice the binding being so much better in this version. So glad to hear they got this looking the way he intended it.
Just got Brubaker’s newsletter. They’ve corrected some printing errors for this edition and added a new joke that was censored when the original issues were released. Good stuff.
The book block of your first copy hangs past the hardcover. Have a look at supporting your omnibus book blocks when you store them traditionally (vertical).
I've heard a lot about this one but have never actually gotten around to reading it. The creative team and dope and I love me a good omni! My wallet is starting to sweat while watching this video.
Just purchased this yesterday and really looking fwd to reading and owning this. Been waiting for a reprint of this for the past few years and thrilled to be finally getting it! Great review making me even more excited!
My original copy is in great shape, but I fully admit I have definitely NOT read it as much as the book deserves, I've still only read it once. I'm sure once I burn through it a few more times it'll start to show some love marks. By the way, if anyone is wondering, this is another one of those books EVERYBODY should buy. I don't care if you're a Batman person or not, this book is the magnum opus for each one of these creators IMO.
I’m happy this was one of the few books I just never got to buying lol. Worth a few years wait to get this with the few small changes and better binding. I just wish it didn’t have those bland black boards. They just don’t feel nice to touch either.
Great overview Omar! This is one of my favorite omni's and i'm jealous of everybody who gets to read this for the first time. I think it's time i read this again!
I got this one last Friday & I could not put it down. I have to say this is one of the best comics I have ever read. It’s great how it mixes police work, Gotham, the rogues gallery of villains & the amazing characters. I can not recommend this enough.
I ordered mine from IST yesterday I can't wait for it to arrive. The retroview you did on it is what put it on my radar and I'm excited to finally get to read it.
Definitely my favorite Omni.....read this while rehabbing from knee surgery and crushed it in a couple days. Homicide Life on The Streets on the page. Fantastic!
I was very moved by the story about Montoya being outed. It was such a powerful story and it made me fall back in love with her character (I was not a fan of her characterization in New gotham and Officer down and this made me appreciate her again). It was especially moving as a Christian, and it makes me think about how the church reacts to situations like hers, and how there are alot of real people who are in very similar situations. It was an eye opening and heart wrenching read.
Thanks, I'm avoiding all gay stuff and you just saved me from wasting money on this. FYI gays are not Christians because they don't believe in Christianity, you can't believe in something you don't believe, claiming you do is disrespectful to not only Christianity but all religions.
I have this on pre order based on one of your recent anniunments about it the other week. Can't wait to get it. And it will be at the top of my reading list right after I finish House / Powers of X. I actually bought this with the money that would have gone towards the X-Men by Jonathan Hickman Omnibus follow up of House / Power of X. I'm sure this is the correct decision.
This is probably my favourite comic of all-time. My copy of this printing arrived yesterday as I sold my first printing last year for an awful lot of money as soon as the new printing was announced.
I should add, my copy was in the same condition as Omar’s after I had read it multiple times, which was another good reason to sell it as it wouldn’t have lasted much longer.
Ordered mine this week. The old man comes with me to comic conventions but doesn’t read comics. He can’t follow the art and world bubbles. (Probably shouldnt have made him read vol 1 of Manifest Destiny, Dingess/Roberts for his first in 45 years🤣). i showed him the interior of Fatale and he said he’d be down to read something presented like that but never could grab those hardcovers $$$, so I’m hoping this will do the trick😬😀. Really excited to read it myself but more excited to see if he goes for it 🤞. Take care and god bless
I am grateful DC are reprinting many of their OOP omnis and these new printings can make up for any binding or QC issues. I thought too that the boards would have artwork on them but if that’s my only concern then I’m a happy collector. Thanks Omar, I’m just about to crack open my copy!
I pre ordered this. Not all of the trade paperbacks are available to buy. The omnibus is cheaper to buy than the trade paperbacks. Looking forward to reading it.
Hey Omar; it probably would be good in the comparison to show the new printing with the correction that adds the snow layer that was missing from the first one; people talk about snow but it’s not there in the original printing of the omnibus But was in the floppies.
Man I’ve got the 4 trades of this collected. I’d be tempted to get the omnibus but the extras are the same that are printed in the trades. It’s a great book though, absolutely love Brubaker stories.
When I first got into omnis, the two out of print releases that I most wanted were this and Untold Tales of Spider-Man. Now both have been reprinted. Mwahahahahahahahahahaha.........................!
Not Omar obviously, but I'd go with Batman: The Man Who Laughs, it's Batman's first encounter with the Joker and also written by Brubaker, and if you enjoy that it will put you in a good place to read Batman's origins, so go with Batman: Year One, then follow a Batman reading order, Omar has a few excellent videos on it.
(Jay RoC) powers comic is exactly like law & order but with super power crimes .. the creators of Law & order should have worked on powers.. the wire was a great show but a completely different style of story telling from law & order
So will you be doing a video on the pros and cons of wearing gloves while handling omnis? JK! I've got this ordered and can't wait to read it based on all of the good things I've heard about these stories.
Can you do a complet complet Reading order of dawn of x Regin of x with al the tie ins a complet cronalgial order with everthing i been looking al over and cant find a complet list i watch your vid on the Reading order but its not complet please please it would mean alot PS sorry bout the spelling

Oh no! Now I’m going to have to upgrade the omnibus I have! 😑
Damn it, I have the first printing and now I’m really thinking about getting the new edition. Ugh lol.
Does anyone know what the joke is or which issue it is in?
@@newspooiechannel I was wondering the same thing! LOL
Just got Brubaker’s newsletter. They’ve corrected some printing errors for this edition and added a new joke that was censored when the original issues were released. Good stuff.
I was just writing this. You beat me to it.
Excellent news
Man u always have the best overviews, exactly what i look for when wanting to buy a new book.
Picked mine up yesterday. There was one left on the shelf the clerk was eyeing it pretty hard.
Glad yo see it doesn't say "2022 edition" all over the dust cover.
So excited to get this along with the 5 new omnis on the way from this week
The passenger seat in my car was stacked high with omnis yesterday.
That fall of the mutants omni I'm the background 👀👀
Ed Brubaker say no more. It just arrived added to my reading pile for 2022
The book block of your first copy hangs past the hardcover.
Have a look at supporting your omnibus book blocks when you store them traditionally (vertical).
Books are meant to be read, wear and tear happens.
Got my copy yesterday. Super excited to read this. Omar's recommendations never fail
Pre-ordered this last year because of your high recommendation, can't wait to dive in. Thanks, Omar!
I've heard a lot about this one but have never actually gotten around to reading it. The creative team and dope and I love me a good omni! My wallet is starting to sweat while watching this video.
Get out and buy it. It's a must buy!
It's amazing. True crime noir
@Scott Putnam good to know, thanks for the recommendation!
@Christopher Rue I don't read a lot of stories like that but I'm wanting to!
This is a great book, and I’m glad it got reprinted for those who need it.
Just placed my order ya'll. Got that Ham!
Just purchased this yesterday and really looking fwd to reading and owning this. Been waiting for a reprint of this for the past few years and thrilled to be finally getting it! Great review making me even more excited!

Just checked and my pre-order arrives on Tuesday. Perfect timing for this video to work up my excitement-cheers!
Awesome that they finally reprinted this. I bit the bullet and bought the trades a while ago, but still. Amazing story.
My order is on the way been waiting a long time for this, The Question Omni can't get here soon enough though
Ordered my copy when they first announced it. Missed it the first time around. But after reading a few of the paperbacks, I was sold! Thanks Omar!
Not a Brubaker fan by any means but I’ve read the trades to this series and loved em so I might get this.
just got ed brubakers newsletter informing about this book and bang omar puts it up , snap.
Been anticipating this for awhile and it’s finally here! Ordered my own and just waiting for it to be dispatched so i can finally read this
I got this one last Friday & I could not put it down. I have to say this is one of the best comics I have ever read. It’s great how it mixes police work, Gotham, the rogues gallery of villains & the amazing characters. I can not recommend this enough.

Gotham Central is an absolute CLASSIC, I’m getting this omnibus asap.
If I'm not misatken, Kano is José Ángel Cano López, a Spanish artist.
Thank you so much.
I pre-ordered it from Cheapgraphicnovels. This will be my first time reading it. Your review has me pretty excited, I can't wait!
Definitely my favorite Omni.....read this while rehabbing from knee surgery and crushed it in a couple days. Homicide Life on The Streets on the page. Fantastic!

Pre-ordered my copy right after watching this. Can't wait to read it for the first time. Thanks Omar 👍
Knock knock!
"Hello, I just followed you home. I like your house." 😲😲😲
I preordered this one based mostly on your recommendation, so I hope it lives up to the hype!
Same here. But I'm a massive Ed Brubaker fan, so I'm sure I will love this.
Sweet, sweet Brubaker goodness. Need to follow this release up with New Gotham through Fugitive Omnis
Ordered mine on CGN just now. Thanks for the reminder. I can't wait to dig in.
I have no eye on my copy so i'm trying the butter knife technique to try & lift it
I have this on pre order based on one of your recent anniunments about it the other week. Can't wait to get it. And it will be at the top of my reading list right after I finish House / Powers of X. I love it. I wish there was more.
I have mine on the way. I can not wait to read it. I have been wanting it for years.
I've been hunting for this book since I started collecting editions I'm so happy this got reprinted.
I love Brubaker but I haven’t read much of his work for hire. This seems like everyone loves it, so I ordered up a copy!
One of my favorite comic runs. Ordered a copy but living on a island usually means I wont get things till a week later!
Thanks for the spotlight. I've wanted to read this for a while, and I'd definitely order it if it wasn't for my wallet already having turned crispy.
Finally got my copy. Been on an Ed Brubaker kick.
This is probably my favourite comic of all-time. My copy of this printing arrived yesterday as I sold my first printing last year for an awful lot of money as soon as the new printing was announced.

Got this from Organic Priced Books for 60 bucks. Can't wait to dive in once it comes up in my Batman reading order.
I was just looking for this video. Great timing.
I like your overview of Gotham Central omnibus. Enjoyed the video!
I am grateful DC are reprinting many of their OOP omnis and these new printings can make up for any binding or QC issues. I thought too that the boards would have artwork on them but if that’s my only concern then I’m a happy collector. Thanks Omar, I’m just about to crack open my copy!
Waiting for my copy to arrive from OPB. This is one of my top wants of all time!
I pre ordered this. Not all of the trade paperbacks are available to buy. The omnibus is cheaper to buy than the trade paperbacks. Looking forward to reading it.
I'll keep my trades as I don't adore this run enough to buy the omnibus, but man this edition is nice to look at!
Omar can you please do a top 10 omnibuses for Batman/batfamily
I might read this now. Seems pretty cool. Thanks for the recommendation Omar.
Thanks for the overview! Love your videos man, you deserve so many more views.
Thank you for the kind words.
Wow, glad I pre-ordered a copy and grabbed it today! Love me some Brubaker!
Unfortunately, that Gotham PD HBO Max show isn't happening anymore, but they're doing an Arkham Asylum show instead, which'll be really interesting!
Hey Omar; it probably would be good in the comparison to show the new printing with the correction that adds the snow layer that was missing from the first one; people talk about snow but it’s not there in the original printing of the omnibus But was in the floppies.
I didn’t even notice, brother. Filmed this on Monday and I was focused more on the binding.
Do you think DC will ever print an Omni of New Gotham by Rucka?
Man I’ve got the 4 trades of this collected. I’d be tempted to get the omnibus but the extras are the same that are printed in the trades. It’s a great book though, absolutely love Brubaker stories.
Please get some sort of shipping deal for Canadian customers at CGN. Shipping costs are ridiculoussssss, lol.
just wondering how come all this omnis pages are warped like that, they look like waves
When I first got into omnis, the two out of print releases that I most wanted were this and Untold Tales of Spider-Man.
Now both have been reprinted.
Mwahahahahahahahahahaha.........................!
Just received mine yesterday, so pumped!
Great series. I have the 4 HC's but should read this again.
Hey Omar! Just finished reading this, and fell in love. First time reading DC! What would you recommend reading straight after this omnibus??
Not Omar obviously, but I'd go with Batman: The Man Who Laughs, it's Batman's first encounter with the Joker and also written by Brubaker, and if you enjoy that it will put you in a good place to read Batman's origins, so go with Batman: Year One, then follow a Batman reading order, Omar has a few excellent videos on it.
Can't wait to read this for the first time!
It's in the post, making its way to me right now :)
Had mine preordered. Cant wait to read it
Just got it today. Also have the old printing and the TPBs. : D
Can't wait for mine!
Can you do a video on all of the marvel epic collections I am so confused as a new collector
This book is in my Next Shipment from DCBS 👍😃Great Video Omar 👍 🤩
Got my copy last week. Glad it got a reprint ... was probably my biggest whale !
Dude i am so excited to read it!
(Jay RoC) powers comic is exactly like law & order but with super power crimes .. the creators of Law & order should have worked on powers.. the wire was a great show but a completely different style of story telling from law & order
Going to get it. Always wanted it and you do good work...grumble
Any chance this would ever be an Absolute edition?
They make an omnibus for the birds of prey
Hmm. If your choice were between the Gotham Central omnibus and The War of Realms omnibus which would you choose?
Gotham Central!
Is there a batman omnibus that has most of the stories for the batman animated series
Not yet. What you want are the Batman adventure trades.
They JUST came out with it! Omar has a recent video now 😊
They are not doing a gotham PD tv show anymore they are doing a Arkham Asylum tv show instead
