Ikr I changed my cabin and engine air filters recently. Luckily I am slim but fuck Nissan, their engineering was designed to make you shill for the stealership.
I am a 60 year old woman. Thanks for the instructions. I was able to replace my own filter, but I had problems getting the door back on. But thanks again Bryant! God bless you!!!
Thank you sir, great step by step tutorial , I’m glad I found this because my mechanic wanted to charge me over a hundred dollars to do something you did in 5 min! Now I’m an expert at changing both the engine air filter and now the cabin air filter!
It would be helpful to explain where your body needs to be to 'easily replace' the cabin air filter. I have to be a virtual gymnast to lay upside down over the reclined seat to see to remove the filter. Kneeling on the ground makes it hard for my back to bend that way.
This is the best and easiest tutorial I’ve seen. I changed my filter in less than 5 min. I used my crochet needle to pull the filter out. It was super easy. Thanks a bunch🙃🙃
Not to bad. Getting it back in sucked but a tip is when you get to the last few inches that won't go in is reach the top and pull the filter down and push it in around the plastic then it'll slide in. Hope that makes sense
Why does Nissan make it extra difficult to access the filte? On most Toyotas it's just a latch where you can open the glovebox and you'll see the air filter cover.
Thank you Brian for this clear and concise tutorial. I’m relieved that I don’t need to remove the glove box! Terrific video! I’ll check out your homepage!
The WORST cabin filter design, placement and retention clip I’ve ever seen! I detailed cars and have removed and installed dozens of these in many different brands in the gloveboxes and this is by far the most horrible design! When I touched the clip it just fell off meaning the techs at Nissan clearly weren’t able to re-install it correctly either last time it was replaced. Then you have to squeeze and bend the filter to get it in? 1 minute job on almost any other car, but 15 minutes of having to first watch a video to find where the filter is, then get the old filter out, install the new one and then 12 minutes trying to get the clip to install properly with no luck is ridiculous. It won’t lock in at the top part and isn’t creating a good seal for the system. Let’s see if the Nissan techs can get it… 🙄
I found the little tab in the back seats of my car. I was guessing where is that from. And I never could figure out. Now with this video I see is from the cabbin filter. I used to take my car to the dealer every time for service. So the technician left the little tab out of the filter. Thanks a lot for the video .
Great video, but what a terrible design by Nissan. I didn't remove the glove box this time, mine didn't go in as easy as in your video, really had to wad that thing up to jam it in there.
Thanks man. I don't think I have changed my filter since I bought my car, something like five years at the moment, and when I finally changed it thanks to this video, HOLY CRAP did a lot of shit come out along with the filter. Really appreciate your concise video.
Yall......thank the good Lord above I work for a Chiropractor.....WHY was the cap thingy SO hard to put back on?!! 😂 Thank you SO much for this video!!!
It should. Also try one of the filters with baking soda embedded in the filter. In addition, check to make sure the a/c drain is draining to the ground outside the car and not into the passenger side footwell. If the drain is plugged, mold and mildew will grow and smell foul, increasingly when a/c is on.
I just did this and I don't know how you filmed this while changing the filter! What a terrible spot to get to! :-) I was lying upside down on the doorsill.
To put the door back in, use the back panel as a support guide. I’m a fairly big guy, and a lot of this was done without seeing much. But if you try to put the door back exactly on the track, it gets difficult.
thank you. after doing it I can understand why people pay others to do this. its not "easy" but thanks to this video I was able to do it. The book that came with the car didn't say how to do it only tat it was behind the glove box. Not really. Not sure which way it should go in however.
Hmm... I've replaced mine last year for the first time , now the 2nd and was just seeing if there was a easier way, never thought to remove the kick panel!
Pain in ass ,,,,,,,,, take the glove box out it take 5 minutes 8 screws and wire connection for glove box light ,,, it helps ,, and the little cover has to be started on an angle to get back in properly
Well, all went well till I went to install the door. Got it to fit in the top but couldn’t get it to snap on the bottom. I’ll have to come back at it and try it again. Great video, good voice to guide through. I’ll check out your other videos as I have more to do. Got to get this one completed before I do more. Lol. So simple but…
@@blueshiftmusic somebody in the comments figured it out. If you still couldn't get the cover sealed, try to lineup the top notched but keep the cover horizontally then close the cover in a hinging motion
You don't need to remove the panel or the glove compartment to get to the cabin filter! (save yourself a LOT of time!!) Just access it from underneath! Yes it's extremely awkward to get to but like I said, saves TONS of time!
Marco Polo Yes! LOL. I checked my 2015 Altima and you are right, I didn't need to remove anything since I could reach the cabin housing. Thanks for tip!
Lol I just did that this morning. Don’t know if I should get that little tool he uses and try. I just tried with my fingers, didn’t want to spend money but now I think I have to
anyone have any luck with getting the FUCKING door back on? it either fits in top and won't let me push the latch in all the way to click in place or the clip goes in leaving the top section angled out completely loose and unsealed!
@@meem7309 Hey I got a response from a Nissan tech that you have to line up the top and swing the bottom out as far as you can like a hinge, then swing the bottom back into where it should be. It worked. Somehow that action causes the little tab on the top part of the cover to seat in correctly.
With my 2015 Nissan Altima SL I got to remove the glove box to succeed in replacing the filter, though I'm not a big guy. Not that terrible removing the glove box, even I didn't have prior experience.
Just a word of caution I was showing my daughter how to change the cabin filter, using a small pick to pull out the filter. She hit a Freon line in the cabin filter box, who knew there was a line in there. Now there is going to be, I’m sure, an expensive repair. Plus the face we inhaled Freon. Be careful
I HATE NISSAN. THIS IS ABSOLUTELY F@#$%ING RIDDICULOUS. I can change my Honda Accord out in like 5 minutes. Between this and the CVTs, I am DONE w/Nissan. They Suck.
Yeah no go for this method theres a reason why you have toremove glove box compartment youll invest the same time by struggling trying to put the new one in.
Thank you, but forgot to mention it requires you to be upside down and cursing. I'm going on 20 minutes to put the new filter in... Edit... 30 minutes. Just threw the cabin filter in the yard and put the panels back on...

Glad you showed it's possible to change the filter and not unscrew the glove box which is a major pain. Thanks

I didn't find it necessary to remove the side panel to do it. It really helps if you compress the end going in.

Great video and explanation! My Air flows quietly and stronger. 👍
Would it be the same process for a 2016 Altima?
Just bought 2015 Altima...when I turn a/c on it stinks right at first...think changing this will solve that?

Does it matter which way the filter goes in? Cause on my filter it has air flow arrows.
Which way does the air flow arrow go? Towards the front or the interior ?
towards interior
they wanted 54.00 at Kwik Kar to change the filter. Thank you for the vedio.

Does it matter if its a Nissan filter(OEM), I purchased an after market one from AutoZone . .....
Does the air flow arrow point into the cars cabin?
Yes.
