  • No boat launch? No problem. I built this for my Bass Raider 10E as there are times when I do not have access to a boat launch. I can use this to simply wheel it up to the lake. Dimensions: 49.5" x 17". I used 2 - 8" pneumatic tires from Harbor Freight for the wheels. 2x4 pieces include: (2) 49.5" and (6) 17".

    I am a female senior citizen with minimal experience building things. I made this, actually two of them because the first was too heavy as I used pressurized lumber. The second one works perfectly and I am so proud. Thank Y O U! I am using the one that is too heavy to hold my motor when I take it off the boat.

    Bass Brothers sent me here. Thanks for the design idea. It's a little on the heavy side plus I went with 10" wheels and treated wood but cheaper and more sturdier than anything else out there you can buy. 👍🏿

      Bass Brothers have some good content. The design is a little heavy but it’s never been a problem. I was going to originally use treated lumber but I knew I was going to be keeping it in the shed so it’s always been protected. It still looks new for the most part. I’ve used it for kayaks and Jon boats as well. Thanks for watching.

      Thanks for watching. There's been a few times I've used this where there were several boats lined up waiting to use a launch. I simply used this and walked the boat right past them to the beach and launched it without having to wait.

      I've used this dolly so many times. There would be 5 or 6 guys waiting in line for a launch and instead of waiting, I just hook this up and walk it right past them to the beach 20 feet away. I hate waiting for a boat launch and for me, this solves the problem. I've also used it in locations that do not have a launch. Thanks for watching.

    I built something similar but less wood. Makes it easy to throw on the back once i get it to the lake however I have a lot of stuff on my boat. Battery and trolling motor alone make me think I may have to do 4 wheels and handle to pull it. This works short distances but no fun 100 yards+.

    You need the wide base for certain...I built one with a 2x8 and the same wheels you have and it wouldn't work at the sandy area where I launch because it flips when you try to pull it through sand. I thought the pneumatic tires would stay on top but they aren't wide enough and dig in. I wanted it to be lightweight and still be able to handle the weight of the boat with the gear in it-battery, trolling motor, cooler,etc. so I can roll the whole rig to the truck and load it all at once. I'll be trying your frame with some big tires off of an old lawn tractor cart. I thought about adding some sort of handle made from 1/2 inch pipe that would hook to the dolly so I could pull it without pulling on the boat itself but don't know if it's necessary if the wide tires stay on top of the sand ....Anyway- thanks for the video....I think your frame design will work great. Hope you're enjoying your Bass Raider as much as I'm enjoying mine.

    I've made 3 so far. The first one was too heavy, the 2nd one was okay, but too wide, the 3rd one is just right, will fit between tires wells in back of truck. Using the composite decking board and same wheels you used

    What a great design! Have you had any problems with the loop screws getting wobbly? I just started thinking that something with a two screw attachment might hold better, but if you havent had any problems with those, I think I'll use them as well.

    Thank you very much for sharing your design. I just got my first boat, the Pelican 10E. Did you pick 8 inch fixed casters over 10 inch for a specific reason? Just curious. I live in an area of soft sandy ground.

    • @Subariblet
      @Subariblet  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      There was no reason I picked the 8 inch over the 10 inch. They were probably cheaper.

      I’m sure you could use pressure treated wood as long as it doesn’t warp. I keep my dolly in the shed so it’s always protected from the weather so I don’t have to worry about it getting ruined. It is still like brand new.

    I'm ripping off, I mean I'm totally borrowing your idea to build this dolly. Question though, do your dimensions allow for the dolly to be wide enough in the middle of the bass raider? I got a bad back and would think it may be easier for me to place the dolly underneath in the middle. Thanks!

    • @Subariblet
      @Subariblet  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Yes, it's wide enough for the middle. In fact, I've used it that way and used a single ratchet strap. By putting it in the middle, I put the battery and other heavy stuff in the middle to easily walk it down to the lake.
